Hyundai review
great value for the money with many options (e.g. traction control, 6 speakers not available on other compacts in same class)
Happy
I am very happy with my car I has some small trouble and would buy another when I buy another car
Great for the money.
What has been done to this car that is not a wear item: 1) Clutch interlock switch (so it starts). 2) Clutch Slave Cylinder (recently) Maintenance Items: 1) Timing Belt. 2) Front Brake Pads. 3) Tires. 4) Oil changes. 5) Antifreeze change. Super reliable.... I am in the rust belt, so I expect an exhaust pipe in the future.
Elantra GT
Handles like a sports car. Ride is a bit stiffer than an Elantra sedan, but to be expected. Peppy 2.0 liter engine. Adequate trunk space. Good stereo system. Leather seats are comfortable and durable. Moonroof seals well. All in all, well worth the money and a serious look.
Love it
First Hyundai was a 1991 Excel. Got 36 mpg. This '04 Elantra GLS with Automatic is fun to drive. It just wants to go!!!! Got it with 28K miles and I'm getting 35 mpg. Better than rated.
can't touch the deal
Does everything I ask it to and at that kind of money, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, none can touch it. Gets me from here to there (commute's over 120 miles) with no fuss and easily cruises at high speeds. Big back seat fits car poolers and more than enough power to pass.
Great car for the money
I like the fact that we got a good four door car for less than other cars with a great warranty. We looked at Kia's and Hyundai had better standard features. Hyundai matched and beat Kia by $700, how can you turn that down? Power locks and windows and A/C standard, can't beat that!
Great Car - Style/Safety/Price Superb
I own 2 Elantras. They are great vehicles re: price, style, quality, performance and, in my opinion, safety. I recently skidded on ice and hit a tree broadside on driver's side w/my 2002 Elantra). The driver's *side* airbag (not available on many more expensive cars) deployed and likely saved my life. I got top dollar on the "totaled car" -- so they hold their value) and I promptly bought a 2004 to join my 2003. Got super customer service, as well!
Best
Good car, runs good, best warrenty, good gas mileage, good styling, reliable, runs smooth, great second car
My 2004 elantra GT
i bought a elantra GT last month,i looked at the civic and the sentra. Both were 1,500 to 2,500 dollars more. The fit and finish on my car is excellent, i have yet to find any defects inside or out.
Very Pleased
Love the look of this car and I haven't been disappointed with its performance. Great acceleration!
Great all around car
This car is great! Fun to drive, fast, sporty, and great on the gas. The only complaints I have are that the car does not have cruise control and the paint really stinks. We have a car port that the cats like to get up into the rafters on. When they jump out onto the car it scratches the paint so I have to figure out a way to keep them out of the car port or keep them from jumping on my car.
IMPRESSED
Great car, awesome handling, teriffic gas mileage! I have never recieved so much buyer satisfaction with any car I have ever owned. Compare other 5 door hatchbacks, include all the bells and whistles (leather, moonroof, cd, front bra, front and SIDE airbag protection) and you WILL NOT FIND A BETTER DEAL OR A BETTER VALUE! While all of my friends pay OVER $350/mo-$450/mo for their gas-guzzlers/clothed-autos, it makes me feel wonderful about the decision I made the day I decided to test drive the elantra GT hatchback. I fell in love with this car as soon as I opened the driver's side door.
My Second Elantra
My first Elantra was good and extremely great in the snow. This new one has "grown up & become sophisticated"!! I see the looks from other drivers. Most people don't believe it is a Hyundai. I really like driving this new Elantra. This car can really move out when it is necessary. I think Hyundai did a real good job with the 2004 model.
Great overall, lousy in snow
This is my 2nd Elantra, first being a 99 wagon; pleased with both, but one consistent problem: both are horrendous in snow. I think the tires are just too wide, and they float. I've driven in snow all my life - Italian sports cars to trucks; these are the first cars I've ever been seriously uncomfortable in. Snows all around help, but narrower rubber would be the best. Overall, great car, 5- spd gets 34 mpg consistently - on my 8 mile commute and highway (at 80 mph last time). Just replaced rotors all around - I don't normally go through brakes, but..??? Would recommend to anyone - great package for the price!!
This is a great car
After 99500 miles, this has been a great car - fun to drive, reliable, economical. The only repair I have ever paid for on our three Elantras was an oxygen sensor on this one. I replaced the rear brakes once (still OEM in front)and the tires twice (only got 35000 miles from the second set). Gas mileage is great, power is great, 5-speed shifts nicely.
Great Reliability
this has been a great car. very reliable, have not had one mechanical problem with this car. i would buy this car again.
One of the best
I like the price -- $15000 out the door has everything on it...
go with elantra
i went from a accent to the elantra and am very happy with the change. the car rides and handles like a dream. the car is fun to drive and handles well in snow. i would certainly buy another elantra. i'm hooked!
My favorite little car
I bought this little car in Sep 2001, to date have put over 30000 miles on it. Gas mileage is consistently over 30 mpg (due to a 100 mile a day commute). The comfort and performance are excellent for its class. I regularly recommend it to friends, two of whom have bought Hyundai products. I regularly get comments on its styling and questions about reliability and economy of operation. I'm 65 years old, and would willingly buy another Hyundai Elantra.
Great car!
I've had the GT for five years now, few problems, only one repair I had to pay for myself. Original clutch and front brakes. It's been fun to drive, economical and reliable. After 99,000 miles, I'm looking to trade on a Sonata, and I just wanted to say that anyone who buys one of these used, if it's been treated right, you're getting a great value.
I've just bought a terrific Elantra
After my parked 98 Accord was totaled by a reckless driver that was driving too fast my heart broke. I thought nothing would be able to replace the Accord. However the moment I test drove the 2004 Elantra it felt right. I felt so comfortable and safe driving it, I had to get it!!!! The exterior/interior are very classy looking and i've been getting tons of compliments on it!!!! Lauren
Go Get One!!!
What a great car!! Great on Gas
Dependable Car!
I have had one repair in 20 months of ownership! I have 75000 miles on this car and my only complaint is that It just won't break down and give me an excuse to buy a luxury car! LOL I get 26 miles per gallon even without cruise control.
Great little car, for a decent price!
I purchased my car brand new and it'll be two years in May since I've had it. I keep up with the maintenance so in return, my car has not let me down!! I take day trips on the weekends and the gas mileage is great. Smooth ride, good handling, and pretty comfortable (unless you're over 6'0" and sitting in the back-seat).
New '04 GLS auto sedan is just right!
Hyundai did their homework by slightly revising the '04 model with an updated interior that "works" just right! Instrument controls, seat comfort, stereo sound, quiet cabin, visibility, a/c -- all make for an excellent ride. The updated exterior is also just right and "works" to make this a sharp looking car! My wife and I are so impressed with this car over the corolla we traded in, we just can't believe we got such a nice car for the money! The review that Edmunds has given this car is right on target -- don't pass this one up if you're looking at a civic or corolla. Good job Hyundai!
Fantastic
This car handles great in the snow, as I live in the east and we have had qquite a few snow storms. The inside in very quite and the car runs like a dream. I get 270 miles to a full tank of gas but that is both Highway and city driving. Teh car comes with electronic wondows and door locks as well as keyless entry.
GREAT
great car, I bought two. The car drives great and gets good gas mileage. Would highly recommend.
2004 Hyundai Elantra ;)
21K in just under a year and she is running great. Running so nicely I just purchased a 2005 GT for my wife. All regular maintenace done and no problems with anything.
love it
This is the 2nd Elantra we have owned and it just gets better, I really like this car, between the value and the warranty, I couldnt ask for more.
I love my car
I love my car. I wasn't sure about buying a Hyundai although I knew it had been selected as car of the year. However, my mechanic recommended it and I am super glad I listened to him. It is a fun car to drive, I can park it anywhere and gives me great mileage.
Great buy!! Lot of car for a low price!!
I have been typically a GM man. I was rather hesitant when my wife suggested going and test driving a Hyundai. The last I remember about foreign cars was they fell apart rather quickly; within 5 years or so. Also, they were an arm and leg to fix. Well, I found out differently. It is a great car. It handles well. It is a sterdy car. It is comfortable to ride in and is fun to drive. I was rather impressed to say the least. You will get your money's worth out of this car.
best car in its class
this is our second Hyundai, my husband has a 2000 Elantra as well. you cant beat the warranty...you cant beat the preice...all in all, Hyundai is the car to buy if you are just looking for a family sedan or a car to commute in.
Happy with my Hyundai and selling dealer
I wasn't sure if I should by a Honda or Hyundai I know that Honda has a very good track record and product . But everything I read about Hyundai kept saying buy the Hyundai so I did I am very happy with the car it has more power a better ride and more standard than the Honda And to top it all of it has the best warranty, warranty was important but the Hyundai seems like a better built car.I was very happy with the dealership I had a salesman named Jerry he did not preasure me explained everything on the car and backed up facts with reports .
Great Car
Our 04 Elantra was a great car for us. Unfortunately, it just got totaled after an accident. It was very reliable for us and we put minimal money into it outside of maintenance. We would definitely buy another one. It was our first car but will also probably be the best car we ever buy.
Happy Elantra Owner
Its a compact car that doesn't feel so compact. It gets excellent gas mileage and performs well in both city street and highway driving. With such a great warranty and looks, what could be better?!
Little things don't work
Great gas mileage, neat 5 speed, alittle gutless, overall turning radius is fine (u-Turn) on a normal street works, however it's the taillight that won't operate replaced it 5 times, not the buld, and the headlights, do not last. this is my 5th replacement, I'm a courier, so I never shut off the car from morning to night, saves on starter motor, and all the other pertinent parts, only lose about 4 mpg so instead of 30, I get about 25-26. not too shabby for a 2001, with 168000 miles so far
GREAT LITTLE GAS MIZER
I BOUGHT THE CAR A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND LOVE THE OPTIONS. I HAD TO TRADE IN MY 99 GRAND CHEROKEE FOR TRAVELING REASONS AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE WARRANTY.
Better than I thought
This car compares with several much more expensive auto makers. My suspicious nature said too good to be true.
Great car
I just love everything about this car it is my first "new" car.
Elantra
Although I have just purchased this veh. for less than a month, I love this little capable car. The performance on highway is quite impresive.
Great Car
I really like my car. No major issues. I had car break down but Garden Grove Hyundai took care of it and it was covered under warranty. I would definitely buy another Hyundai. Very dependable and worth the money. I seem to not get as good mileage as they claim but still overly happy with vehicle.
Exactly what I need.
I use this car as a daily commuter in Houston and for about once monthly trips home to Louisiana. Gas mileage averages 27/28 mpg in combined city/highway driving, and mileage on the highway varies depending on how much speeding up/slowing down I have to do for 18 wheelers and slower traffic. I have gotten as good as 40 mpg on one trip setting the cruise control on 70. The car is remarkably comfortable and quiet for a compact car. The OEM tires have nearly 40,000 miles on them and will soon need replacing (strangely, the rear tires wore down sooner than the front tires, having never been rotated.) I am a very heavy man and the car is quite comfortable, even on my 4 hour road trips.
elantra
Drove from Massachusetts to Florida, have taken a 6 hour trip since then, and joy riding with my friends. With all of that since June the only problem I've had is the brake pads (understandable) and and windshield problem, which is being worked out now. Good car.
Great Car
I love this car. I wish I had gotten it a while ago. Competatively priced and I only have a $185 a month car payment and I am 18 so that is great. I hope everyone has good luck with theirs as well!
Hot in Arizona
Brought it used in 2004. Former owner didn't take good care of it. Local Hyundai dealer fixed all problems with no hassles. Great car so far after putting on 11,000 miles. Love how it drives.
Nice Car for the Money!
Great car was surprised how cheap it is and also the Dealer was able to better the offer very pleased.
Wow! A++++
Great value for a single mom wanting reliable transportation for a busy life! Love it! would purchase another one in a heartbeat!
Very happy with this car
I bought this car fully equipted and am very happy with it. Comfortable ride, sound system is nice, everything is tight and it's fun to drive. The options I wanted came standard in the Elantra!
After 4 years ...
After 4 years of owning my GT, I'm on my third set of tires (all good brands), have had the breaks replaced once and the front end aligned twice. This is all within the first 40k miles!!! The car is horrible in the snow, almost to the point of being dangerous. Other than that, I've had no other real issues. It still looks good and handles great. On my daily commute (city and highway driving) I average 28mpg. I'm debating if I want to buy a 2009 or go to a Civic/Corolla
