The Azera is a great family car!
Purchased used in 2009 w/17,000 miles. It has been very good with no maintenance issues. I wanted a Toyota Avalon but they cost thousands more for the same car. Also chose this vehicle because we have had such good luck with our Hyundai Sonata. Everyone that rides in it loves our car. This is a nice luxury vehicle with great features that is very affordable. Hyundai has a great warranty & they have always been very good to deal with, we will buy another Hyundai next time-possibly a Genesis.
Still the best value in the land
Still the best value. Bought my Azera only six months ago and already put 12,000 miles on it. It's a dream. What a value for the bucks (less than $20K). And I always get looks and comments. Minor annoyances: driver's seat doesn't go back far enough; bumps are over exaggerated. But all in all it's more than likely the best car I've ever owned (and I've owned about 15). Nothing to think about. If you're looking for a great car at a great price - Azera's your only real choice. I'm even thinking about getting another one.

Replaced Michelins with Bridgestones
OEM Michelins with lots of rubber were driving me nuts with their noise. Replaced them with Bridgestone Turanzas Serenity. Holy Crapola! What an upgrade in so many ways; it drives like a new car. No more noise and hippity hopping down the bunny trail anymore. And the car drives like it is on a track, unbelievable. Got the tires out the door for $400. Great deal; great tire; finally great handling and cruising and silence - blessed silence. Those Michelins were driving my buggy. Those are the only Michelins I have ever had on a car and they will be the only ones. SemperFi
Excellent Car
A few month ago I have bought a used 2008 Hyundai Azera Limited (Canadian Edition) with 68,000km. Since then, I have driven about 10,000km and managed to get a consistent/avarage 28MPG (25MPG city and 30MPG highway). The car looks good, fun to drive, comfortable and no reliability problems whatsoever. I have purchased an aftermarket DVD/GPS unit with rear view camera to replace the factory radio, so now the vehicle is complete.
Low cost luxury
Hyundai Azera has a good value in regards to comfort and ride. But not so good on the brakes, fuel economy and resale value that should.

BEST car I've ever owned/maintained!
I purchased my 2008 Azera Limited in August of 2008. It had 23 miles on it. I now have 233,000 miles and I STILL have the ORIGINAL belts, ORIGINAL hoses AND I have NEVER had it tuned up! It runs the same today as the day I purchased it! Acceleration, performance, fuel economy are all as good now as they were then! I would NOT hesitate recommending this car to anyone! I believe the 3.8L engine as well as the Azera line was discontinued because the Koreans did not understand the concept of planned obsolescence. This car appears to be able to last forever with little to no maintenance issues, UPDATE: Just passed the 245,000 mile mark and the car still running like a top!

Best car I’ve ever owned - hands down
I purchased my 2008 azera limited two years ago with about 145,000 miles on it ..LOVE this car - it is smooth, reliable, strong, and great for long distance driving. Now it’s almost at 200k and other than replacing normal things due to wear and tear (suspension, struts, battery, and radiator) she still purrs. I always get compliments from my mechanic when I bring her in for an oil change and I plan on driving it until 300,000 miles. Nice leather interior, built in gps, satellite radio, and DVD player to boot 👌 even at 12 years old this car holds its style, class, and value
Going to 300K....CURRENTLY 215,000
I have had an unbelievable experience with this car----did regular maintenance only------215,000 with only front axles replaced ($600). Car still drives/rides great...little mushy but am replacing shocks struts soon. This was a former rental car when I bought it w/19K on 6/09. Long distance driving is GREAT (Charlotte-Boston three times; Char-Chicago twice; Charlotte-Raleigh sixty times; Raleigh-Atlanta 6 times). I "feathered" my gas pedal, drove 70-75mph from Raleigh to Charlotte and got 33 mpg----WOW. The engine is simply awesome for power. Sound system great; seat, gas pedal personalization is great. Big trunk, backseat and much much lower price than Lexus. Love this car....

dont buy an azera
I bought a 2008 azera on june 1st of 2009. It was a program car and had 8,400 miles on it. It cost a little less than a camry, and had a better warranty, but that's the only good part. It in no way matches the quality of a toyota camry. I've read these reviews and have decided that they must have been written by hundai dealers. My overall gas mileage is around 18 mpg. I guess that's good if you compare it with a hummer. I took the car on vacation and the throttle sensor went out 22 times before i could get it to a dealership to fix it. The mechanic who fixed it said that he had fixed several of them, and he didn't know why they didn't have a recall on them. I'm very disappointed in the car.
Overall... VERY good car.
I bought my '08 Azera Ltd used in 2010, and aside from the very poor gas mileage, and needing to have the entire dash replaced under warranty... and a transmission that doesn't seem to shift smoothly when accelerating... I have been very satisfied with it... Lots of power with the 3.8, good handling, though it feels like a heavy car... unique good looking body, leather interior has been very durable, though I treat it often... and not overly comfortable/cushy... I only around 15mpg in the city... which is poor for this class of vehicle... had to replace the front struts after 43K... now the stabilizer arm bushings are needing replacement and maybe the ball joints. Not a ton of repairs for a car this old... but for a car 43K miles... not great. I am satisfied though the resale value is very low. UPDATE: Still driving strong... still poor gas mileage, but runs and drives great. Leather seats holding up really well. I'm having a hard time picking out a new car to buy, as this one still has low miles and the reviews on everything but Lexus are troubling... cars seem to be getting more and more unreliable... so maybe I'll drive this until the wheels fall off! Update 7/21: More and more pleased with my Azera... the design is unique, which is unusual for a Korean or Japanese vehicle... I am not tired of it at all... still runs great, plenty of power... I added some LiquiMoly to my oil and now am getting 18 in the city, which is an improvement... mileage is still not great, but acceptable. Ride is pretty smooth, handling is fine, visibility is xlnt... leather still holding up great... no real "Tech", which to me is fine... I am actually in a bit of quandry... I often think about buying a new vehicle... but can't seem to find any that blow my hair back enough to pull the trigger... I thought about a Lexus GS350, but the styling is VERY dated, IMO... Audi A6 is not reliable enough... Toyota 4Runners and Tundras are overpriced and the gas mileage is stinko... Camrys and Accords are boring... GM and Chrysler products are low quality... so... I'll just stick with my Azera... and be just fine with that. Well... I finally let my Azera go... the used car prices were getting crazy high, so I sold... I will miss it, as it was a really great car and I was so used to it, it almost drove itself, it seemed... but I picked up a new '22 Toyota Avalon XLE and its specs are very similar to the Azera... 50 more horses, much better mileage... and so far, drives just great. I hope to keep it as long and be as satisfied!

Where are these!
I have been interested in the Hyundai Azera's for a while and finally found a good price on a used one. With 78,000 miles on it I still cant believe how well it looks and drives. What really surprises me is how little these gems sold in America. For the money I don't believe there was a better buy in this class. All cars have issues and for what you pay for this car, and the amenities you receive it is amazing. I can't wait to buy one of these brand new some day. Great job Hyundai and Kia!!!!!
It DID run great
My review will probably be a bit confusing. I got the car pre owned probably 4+ owners when I got it it was at 196k miles already bought it with a mid firing spark plug so I replaced all of them and the engine coils and it ran perfectly until 197k miles it then had a loud engine knock looked around at what it was and a mechanic told me it was one of the engine pistons going out and if I kept driving it it would EXPLODE but he told me with these types of engine you usually see that around 150-170k miles so mine lasted past it’s expiration date per say but for the short time I had it it was nice and smooth and for being a 2008 it still felt pretty luxurious

Own a 2006 & 2008 azera
Bought a used 2006 (1st year model) limited edition, with 12,000 miles. Now has 103,000. Gave it to my wife, when I bought a used 2008 azera with 12,000 miles, now has 30,000. I have owned over 25 cars in my life, and these are among my top 3 all time favorite cars. You can't beat the quality and features for the price. Dealer service is the only way to go. They stand behind their cars 100%. If I have to complain about something, its the amount of road noise on the freeway. My 2008 has navigation, but it is outdated, and not user friendly. Hyundai is updating the nav in 2011. Two friends have bought azera's, after driving mine.
Poor Quailty vehicle no care fromHyundai
Guess the frustration is everything gone wrong seems to not be able to be repaired or not covered under Hyundai warranty. In 2 years CD has gone out, not under warranty, head gasket blew, not has a battery discharge short they cannot find and been in shop for 4 times same issue for a month. Hyundai won't return calls to me to discuss the issue and shop says they know it has a problem but don't know how to repair. While I enjoyed this car at once as a company I now have to give Hyundai an "F" for consumer assistance and standing behind their product. They are not a brand on my do not buy list for any reason.
Disappointed - Not for Everyone!!!
1) After first week, I felt the car pulling ...took to the dealer and they aligned it. 2nd wk still pulling...took back to the dealer and they found that the left front tire was defective and replaced for free... 2) After ~13K miles vibration upon applying brake...dealer stated that rotors needed to be "turned"...I was outside of 12K miles for what Hyundai calls "adjustments" and so had to pay 3) Dashboard cracked - KNOWN PROB WITH AZERAS- this was what was stated by dealer-My car is garaged and was so very disappointed/frustrated that yet another prob-replaced under warranty 4) Loud noise in Engine. Dlr ran diagnostics & checked front end.Could find nothing wrong...hoping nothing awaits me next
I'd look at a Sonata
I own a Sonata. Mine went in to the shop for a recall and I got a 2008 Azera with 20k miles on the odo. It rattles like crazy and you hear the back end. The transmission is terrible and doesn't shift right. There is cheap plastic and door handles are plastic. My Sonata is so much nicer and roomier. I don't understand. Was looking forward to driving this car. Like Hyundai, but I would look at a Sonata. Mine has twice the miles and no rattles. Oh, turned the radio up so I couldn't hear the rattles and the Infinity radio is pretty bad too. This one pulls to the right, maybe it's been wrecked since its a loaner car?
Best Car I've ever owned
Previously owned a Pontiac Bonneville, didn't ever think I would find a car as comfy as my Bonneville, but this car has surpassed it in the Comfort Zone! I test drove 7 different cars before I drove this car, and it was by far the best!! The steering is so precise you feel like it's doing all the work for you! The power side view mirrors the heated seats with lumbar support for the driver and passenger, the adjustable pedals, the auto settings for the mechanical steering wheel for 2 different drivers, the back seat has great leg room, I just can't say enough about how much we are enjoying this car!! This is definitely a Luxury Car!!
Unhappy Owner
I bought this car used Aug 09. Had 28k miles on it. It has developed a quite load ticking in the engine. Worse on cold days but can be heard always. Tried twice to get dealer to fix under warranty. They refused. Said until something breaks there's nothing they can do. What good is a warranty if they won't honer it. I actually am starting to hate this car. Its has a noisy, jittery ride. I just have a feeling in another 20k it will be a hunk of junk. I will get rid of it somehow this summer when it warms up and the ticking sound is not a obvious.
shoot this car
I loved this car for the first two months. Since then I have had nothing but problems. So many rattles and clicking noises. I hate this car now. I have had it in the shop so many times I have lost count. I am sick and tired of the dealership telling me the car is fixed and then driving it home, the same noise occurs. I am ready to shoot it and put it and me out of misery.
High Quality Car
I bought my 2008 Hyundai Azera in June of 2008. And so far with about a month and a half of driving the car, I still enjoy the ride and its features. It took me a while to find out all the features it had. The ride is smooth and the comfort is great with leather seats. I really enjoy the LG Navigation system, this way I won't get lost anymore. There were a number of reviews I read before and after buying the car, and overall they speak well of the car, however they point a little about the steering. I find the handling and steering to be fine. I guess the only thing I could complain about is that there are a few squeaks and rattles from the car when going over bumps, which is annoying.
SURPRISING
I was in the market for a 5 series BMW and decided to a take a friends advice and check out the Hyundai Azera. Very glad I did, it has all the features of the BMW with extras such as folding mirrors, telescoping pedals and steering wheel. The entry and exit from the vehicle was also easier than the 5 series bmw body. The HP on the Azera is surpasses the BMW 525 as well. Warranty was also much better. 6yrs/60K compared to the 4yrs/50K BMW. The Azera is very stable at hugs the road well on turns. OVer all very pleased.
Azera is a Good Automobile
I have driven my new Azera for 3 weeks. So far,I love it. Powerful, smooth, noiseless ride. I wanted the white ,But not in stock. I purchased the Titanium Blue. How lucky was I??? The blue is soooo rich looking. To own a car for 10-20000 dollars less than I was expecting to pay is a huge bonus. Hyundai makes a fine product. I ...Will write a comment in about 6 months, after the break in period.
No Better Near-Luxury Car for the Price
I traded a 2006 Sonata GLS 4-cyl for this car. I was also looking at a 2009 Sonata 4-cyl Limited. After driving the Azera, there was no comparison. I got the Azera with 15k on it for $1,000 less than the Sonata Limited would have been; even after $4,500 in rebates. The Azera is a solid car with a quiet ride. Only over certain types of broken pavement could the suspension be a little more supple. The 3.8 liter engine is very quiet and goes almost unheard up until 4,500 rpm. The engine is very strong throughout the powerband. The 5-speed auto is smooth, though shifts could be a bit more swift. The gas mileage averages only 2-3 MPG less than my Sonata 4-cyl.
Great Reliable sedan
We have 193,000 miles on our Azera and have done very little to it. It's been a great car.

Excessive road noise inside
I've had my 2008 Azera for 9 months, and have noticed the road noise inside the car to be very loud, compared to the 2006 Azera I still own, and my wife drives. I have adjusted the tire pressure on the Michelin tires, and still see no improvement. Both cars have the exact same tires, and maintain the same tire pressure. The dealer says "it is what it is", and couldn't explain why both cars would vary so much in road noise. I still have 1000's of miles wear left on these tires, and hope when the time comes to replace them, it will make a difference
Nice car for a nice price
Purchased used from dealer (executive car with only 22K miles) It was extremely well taken care of and looks and drives brand new...still smells new! It now has almost 30K and I'm still pleased with it; plan to keep it a long time. I get lots of compliments and now that I have one I'm starting to notice them on the road more. You can't beat it for the price...however the Genesis is very tempting.
One Helluva Car
I never, never ever thought that I would buy a Hyundai. But, I did. And I am forever so glad. I have owned over 40 cars including Lincoln, Lexus, Buick, Lancia, Karmin Ghia, Oldsmobile, Ford, Volvo, etc.; and by far this 08 Hyundai Azera drives circles around all of them. I traded an 07 Buick Lucerne CXS after only 9 months of shear frustration with all of the problems including a bad vibration whenever the engine was doing 1500 rpms regardless of the speed of the car. And the turning radius was horrendous. And you could not see the instrument in the daytime. And the front seat belts were nonfunctional (would not lock up). And on and on and on. This Azera was an answer to my prayers
Anyone else have this issue??
All features work well and car handles well. I now have about 13K miles on the car and the front rotors already show signs of wear. The dealer indicated that this was due to the hardness of the brake shoes. It would look as though the rotors would already need to be turned. Has anyone else had this issue? Gas mileage is less than impressive.
WOW What a Car
Have had Taurus's since 1986. Went to look at a new Sonata and saw this used 08 Azera. We fell in love and a short test drive was all we needed. I've driven BMW's, a Lexus and this is right at the top with them, only less expensive. We can't say enough about the car. Ride is smooth and quiet. XM Radio and stereo system is top notch. Power fold mirrors are the cats meow. Driver 1 and 2 position seting should be on all cars. So many features We are very impressed. If you are looking for a car and a value for your money you should drive one of these and purchase it. Oh, by the way.... The wife hardly lets husband drive it......it's hers.
Luxury for Less
The 2008 Azera Limited (with the Ultimate Package)is one fine automobile. You can own an excellent, reliable, comfortable, powerful and safe auto for thousands less than the other "driveway dressing" brands. You'll turn some heads (and leave them at the starting line)in your Azzie. It has so many upscale refinements. Very well designed and the mechanicals (transmission and engine performance) behave like a refined auto costing much more. Quiet, comfortable cabin. And a great warranty. If you're looking for a great car at a great price, check out the Azera. Do your homework, give it a drive and you'll see...big bang for your hard-earned buck.
Dont Believe the Hype
After 6000 miles, I have had several problems, mostly electrical. The air bags were broken 1 week after purchase, and my driver seat moves backwards while driving. The finish of the dashboard is separating around the airbag housing. The car drives well, but I fear that it will be falling apart in a few years. After this experience, probably wont buy another Hyundai.
Great car so far
This will be my third Hyundai. We have come up the line from elantra, sonata and now the azera. This is an excellent riding vehicle. Very quiet. There is some road noise but I'm attributing that to the tires. Not a lot of people who rated this car like the michelin mxv4 plus tires. I will be taking them off. It handles well, great pickup from the engine. Very, very roomy. Great trunk space. The basic stereo system could use more power. The XM portion doesn't come through very loud. The steering wheel volume control are kind of hidden. Still these are minor problems that wouldn't stop me from buying another azera. It shouldn't stop you either. Take one for a spin.
Really comfortable, lots of power, smooth driving
It's a near luxury car with a low price. Cheap maintenance.
Very Pleased Azera Owner
This car will not disappoint you. It offers many luxurious features at a fraction of the price in comparison to Lexus. It is truly a pleasure to drive. It is equipped with ample power for safe passing and responds well on hills and navigating turns. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a car with style and grace - it more than measures up to Lexus or BMW.
best
I get so many people that look at my car. I get mileage in the high 20s. And now they have the option of the navigation. And its great. Love the wood and the power folding mirrors and the rain sensing wipers. I also like the seat memory for the mirrors and sterring wheel. And the sunshade in the back is great. Best price for this much stuff.
08 Azera
I love the car. Drives really smoothly, and has great acceleration. All the safety features are great, because I pick up my kids from school, so now I can feel more comfortable knowing that they are more protected. Looked at the Avalon, maxima, acura tl, and merc. C300 series. For the price I got the most with the azera and I have the safety net of the 10 year warranty. Definitely give it a test drive and it will be on your short list as well.
Love This Vehicle
Great value. I'm not sure why, but I was able to buy this vehicle for about $3,000 below dealer cost. I've never driven a new car off the lot and have the ability to go trade it in for a profit. That aside, what a find. Great power, smooth ride, awesome sound system, sunroof, navigation. My wife drives a BMW X3 and I prefer to drive this vehicle. That pretty much sums it up.
What a great car!!
We went to the Hyundai dealership to look at the Sonata and while it is a great car, was not big enough for our family. We the looked at the Azera and drove it. We found that the car drove and ran excellent. More power than the Sonata, and my 6'1" son can sit behind me in the back seat and still have leg room. The car rides excellent, looks great, and gets decent gas milage, considering it's size and horsepower output. At many thousands of dollars less than the competition, this car sticks out as an EXCELLENT alternative. The warranty doesn't hurt anything either!
great ride!
I'm 23 and I like my 08 azera. It is a nice pearl white but very hard to keep clean. I like the power of the 3.3 liter 234 hp engine. Spins its tires easily. Love shiftronic is good for redlining it.0-60(timed myself) is 7.8 seconds. Ugly alloy wheels.
Great Rental - might consider buying
An excellent car. We rented the Azera for a trip around the Northwest. I was initially skeptical about having a Hyundai (even with only 7 miles on it), but that wore off immediately. We could fit 5 suitcases, a full size stroller (folded) in the trunk and two kids in the back seat comfortably. Our round trip was from Portland, around the Olympic Peninsula, to Seattle and back to Portland. Whether cruising on 101 or climbing mountain roads to over 5000 feet, the Azera gave a smooth, comfortable, and powerful ride. MPG was quite reasonable for a full size car.
Very Good but no Great
This is my first Hyundai. I had done loads of research before purchasing this car. I've been a Toyota man for 20+ years and it was difficult to change brands. The low resale value of this cars helped me to purchase the Hyundai. I'm not sure if I regret this decision or not, but, time will tell. I don't believe it is the same quality as Toyota, but, it's close in many areas. The performance is excellent, gas mileage is very good for 263 hp. Seating comfort is a little lacking due to very short seat bottoms. Many many lxury features, but, they haven't changed much at all since 2006. Needs a major updating.
Great value!!
Simply the best car I've ever owned.Cannot understand its lack of popularity with the public. Extremely reliable and not overly pricey for Hyundai's top of the line (at the time) model.

Best Value
Purchased used (rental) with 13,500 miles at more than $8,000 less than a new '09. I looked at all options in the mid-size/full size (new & used) and settled on the Azera when several became available from the rental fleets. Traded a 2005 Maxima. I use for business (sales) and needed something that was safe and comfortable. The Azera wins hands down! I have averaged around 25 mpg (75 highway/ 25 city) and find the freeway drive exceptional. Trunk & rear seat offer plenty of room. Ride in the city is a little sloppy compared to the Maxima.
Very Happy
I bought an '08 Azera Limited yesterday so this is my initial review. I'm very impressed with the car's ride, overall quality and appearance. I bought it with 16,500 miles. I paid $17K + my 2002 Sonata that was essentially a write off. I'm very happy with the deal I made. $17K for a $30K+ car is awesome. It's comfortable, SAFE and classy. I don't see any reason to pay the premium for other brands. This is my 3rd Hyundai and there probably will be a 4th.
AUTOMOTIVE EXCELLENCE
Traded an 07 Buick Lucerne CXS in on this Azera about a month ago. I had been researching and test driving earlier versions of it. Traded it in on an 08 Azera Limited with the Ultimate Package. The Azera is a driver's car; it performs and handles excellently. I have added mp3 (wireless) and a lip spoiler, etc. Gangbusters. SemperFi
Amazing!
I purchased pre driven with 72,000 miles on it for $10,500 out the door. 7 years later I still have it with 225,000 miles on it! Just took a trip from Chicago to Spartanburg SC, AVERAGES 26mpg at 75miles per hour! BEST vehicle I've owned!

best deal
I spent a lot of time on line researching the purchase of a second car. Hyundai warranty is very persuasive. Had all the intentions of getting a 09 sonata limited with the navigation option. After a very satisfying demo of the sonata, I made the mistake of sitting in a 2008 leftover azera. This car wowed me right away. After some negotiating, I was able to purchase the azera limited, with the ultimate nav. Option for an " out the door " price of $27,500. This made it about $2,500 more than the sonata, and it is very well worth it. It is a beautiful ride, and you really need nothing more.
Long-Term Update
This is a long-term update to my earlier report about 16 months ago when the car had about 20,000 miles. I now have about 60,000 miles on the car and I still love it. No question that this is one of the best cars - definitely the best value - I have ever owned. I have only had only one unusual problem - had a broken tooth on the timing gear, it was replaced under warranty. Otherwise it has been perfectly reliable. As you can tell, I spend a lot of time in a car covering al-ms in technology sales. I often will drive over 3 hours in a stretch and I arrive still feeling good as the car is so comfortable.
Been there Done that
Looked at Hyundai in 1986 and didn't buy. Had 2001 Audi A6 which I sold and wanted to replace with a newer model. Drove a Sonata on a dare and enjoyed it but wanted a more powerful luxury car similar to my Audi Quattro which was the best handling car I've ever owned. The Azera that I bought was $6,000 less and 2 years newer than a comparable A6. Mileage at steady 80 is 22 mpg at 53 mph was an astonishing 29 mpg. Very comfortable ride, excellent handling for a FWD full size sedan. The dealer in Delray Beach treats me like gold and has replaced shocks, turned rotors above 30k miles. I've driven all types of cars in my over 40 years and this has to be one of the best. Definitely will buy again.
Don't look any further!!!!!
This is my third Hyundai, my two others were Sonata's. I loved both of those but after upgrading to the Azera this is by far more bang for the buck than BMW,Lexus or any other high end car this size. I'm getting 28-30 mpg on rural roads at 45-50 mph and 32-36 highway at 70mph.Powerful 3.8 ltr and great mileage to boot! Try and find one coming off lease and save big$$$$$.
