Great small car
Great gas mileage 36-37 mpg highway. Best vehicle I've ever owned when it comes to reliability, only 1 small repair charge in 100,000 miles. Interior design and style much better than other cars in the size range that I considered buying. I will probably drive it for many more miles, still looks great inside and out.
More than I could afford
Got car used w/11k miles on it, have had nothing but problems with it.I don't know how many sensors this thing had but I think I have replaced them all. Also, transmission went at 77k mi after I brought it in several times for the same problem (over a couple of yrs), either that or the dealership got tired of trying to fix it, it was not covered by the warranty. Horrible to drive in the snow, it's like rubbing crisco on the tires then driving in the snow. I spent more time getting it fixed and money on this car (seemed to be something every 3 months)than what it was worth. Traded it in w/the check engine, brake & battery lights on got $1400 for it, though I would have paid them to take it.

Hyundai - Best vehicle ever
This vehicle now has 122,831 miles on it and has only had the brake pads replaced and oil changes. There has never been any problems at all - Hyundai is the #1 non luxury import brand in America - rated higher in initial quality than overpriced Honda and Toyota. If you are looking for the best price, best car and best manufacturer - you owe it to yourself to buy a Hyundai
Good at first- Didn't last long!
This car was great for about the first year only. If that! I had a major problem with my transmission in the first year. They told me that I was lucky it was covered under warranty because it would have cost me an arm and a leg! The next major problem was the brake light - apparently their was another major problem with the engine. It served the purpose of taking me from point A to point B in the city. I commute and I DO NOT recommend this vehicle to commuters! After commuting for 1 1/2 years the car broke down left me stranded twice. I put so much money into this car because the parts are soooo expensive for such an inexpensive car! The gas mileage is about the one good thing.
Good Job
I think the people at Hyundai have done a great job with the 2002 Hyundai Accent. It is a great car for its size and it is fast for the engine size also. However, the car disappointed me last Sunday, in that the transmission is slipping and it is high idoling. That confuses me because I have had no problems. Its only a year old. Besides that I can't complain with the performance.
'02 Accent - great car for the money
I just resisted the urge to trade in my 2002 Accent largely because it is so much fun to drive and has been so reliable for me. At 80,000 miles "Little Red" is still zipping along merrily. Average MPG in the high twenties for city driving. Totally agree that the standard tires should be jettisoned ASAP. Like all Hyundais this Accent runs and drives (and on the inside, looks) like a more expensive vehicle. Exterior styling is a bit on the dumpy side, but hey, you can't have everything. This Accent is a terrific buy, especially at a used price.
Not Bad For $8900
Bout this car in august '03. It had 15000 miles on it at that point. Now (Nov '07) it's at 102000, and I have had my first tranny problem. None of my service was done at the dealership. I don't trust dealers so no one touches my car other than my regular mechanic. With regular oil changes (and tranny fluid changes every 30000 or so) it's run well for me. had the plugs and wires changed around 50000 and had a problem with the rear brake hardware somewhere in there. I've actually been really pleased with this car. It's made several trips back home (1200 miles twice a year) and only just now conked out. I can accept a tranny problem at 100000, hope it's not an expensive fix.
Best car I've ever had in my life
I bought my accent brand new and never have had any problems with it. I have always kept up maintenance in the car myself. It has never been in a mechanic shop or dealer shop for anything. I now(07/08) have 200,000 miles on it and it is still going strong even after driving it very hard its whole life. It seems like nothing will ever make it quit running. I have a very heavy foot and it doesn't ever phase it. There are also no oil leaks or burn off and has the original plug wires. I have also hit a wild hog and run over a curb at 55mph and it only bent the wheels and didn't cause any other damage. I still to this day get around 40 mpg on the highway and 35 in town.
