Love this truck!!
I purchased a 2023 Ridgeline Black Edition on August 31 and have no regrets!!! I drove a Toyota Tacoma Limited, interior was too tight and lack luster, a Nissan Frontier and wasn’t like the 2010 Frontier I was trading but with terrible gas mileage, Ford Ranger no fun and very choppy ride, interior last tight. I drove the Ridgeline and was not sure about it initially but it’s the most comfortable, average combined mpg is 23.5 at 5k mileage, I LOVE THE TRUCK!!! Price was similar to all the other brands, high 40k, but I have enjoyed the ride on long and short trips! More than enough power, flex open tailgate a big plus and the trunk in bed is priceless!!! Finish is flawless seats are very comfortable, climate control is nice, voice commands are good but we still have a learning curve…… The back seats flip up and are great for my dogs, floor is flat and with a blanket down they are quiet and comfortable, a great feature!!! I can go on for ever but I have nothing negative to say about this truck.

Satisfied first time pickup truck owner
My comments are around the 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL. The vehicle was purchased last Friday and we are still working through the new features. The ride and comfort are amazing. The display is easy to navigate and the controls are intuitive. There are many safety features along with some helpful driving assist features. Yesterday we used the truck bed to haul a used treadmill and the two-way tailgate and ample tie-down points were a big help in loading and securing the load. Looking forward to the new home-building project. The gas mileage so far is the advertised 19 miles/gallon.

The perfect truck for simple cargo hauling
I went into a dealer to trade in an Accord for a new Accord coming off lease, but was diverted to the 2023 Ridgeline. I had long considered getting one, so I wasn't totally opposed to the idea. Once I took the test drive I was hooked as the buttery smooth, unibody experience and ample creature comforts of the RTL trim level. The Ridgeline is Honda's hardest product to sell and there were plenty on the lot to choose from. I'm not sure why it's not more popular, but for people with only simple hauling needs or trailering, the Ridgeline is the perfect balance of truck and comfortable daily driver. I've had Toyota Tacoma's in the past, but I'm not interested in the rough handling of that truck line anymore. The look and feel of the Toyota is aggressive and tough, but I'm at the age I don't care how I look driving a Ridgeline as long as I can be comfortable in the cabin and transport furniture, garden materials, or other hardware around whenever I need to. The 2023 model doesn't have any new features compared to the 2021 refresh, but the RTL has some key features I wanted like memory seats, leather, built-in Sirius XM, and a sunroof.I can live without the 540 watt indoor/outdoor stereo and other amenities of the RTL-E. The radio has a volume control, so consumer demand got that returned to the Ridgeline. The gas mileage is the biggest sacrifice on a 6-cylinder, 9-speed transmission truck. If you are coming down from something in the 30's mpg range, 18-24 feels like a big drop. However, I won't drive it so much I go broke filling it with gasoline. I didn't buy the Function+ package with the tonneau hardcover, but may purchase it aftermarket because I want the ability to cover the cargo bed for materials that I want to hide or protect from rain (although the tonneau cover is not waterproof). I've only drive it a few hundred miles so far, but will update this review with real world experience as I put miles on it. So far, so good. Update October 2023: I’ve had the Ridgeline 6 months and still love the truck. It’s been reliable and fun to drive. A few weeks ago I had Honda install an OEM tonneau cover to be able to load cargo without tying everything down. The hard cover is very solid and easy to open and strap down for open travel, but a warning: this OEM cover is not waterproof and you will still need to cover items with a tarp or plastic container to ensure dryness. I leased mine and didn’t want to install a cheap 3rd party cover, but in hindsight should have worried more about my needs than the dealers upon lease return. I will say the cover reduces drag and has improved my mixed driving mpg to 23 mpg from 20-21. I will take the truck on a road trip soon and see how it does with mostly highway miles. I wouldn’t want any other mid-size truck currently on the market but am disappointed Honda hasn’t added a hybrid option to any of its truck products yet. That probably won’t come until 2025. Due to the low 20’s mileage I’ve limited my driving somewhat and only have 2800 miles after six months. The auto shutoff feature during stops can be annoying as it shuts off power steering until the engine restarts. Since this is an industry-wide trend to have auto shutoff, I can’t blame Honda. I’ve heard that the auto shutoff and 6-cylinder Variable Cylinder Management are bad for the engine over the long term. For now I still recommend the truck. No problems at all so far. Update May 2025: The truck was great but I traded in for a TrailSport at 9500 miles. In part, it was to beat the tariffs. The 2024-25 tech upgrades make the Ridgeline a solid buy.

All the truck that almost everyone needs.
I bought the 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTLE after carefully researching all mid size trucks. My son has a 2022 Toyota TRD off-road, so I was very familiar with the Toyota. For me, daily driving comfort is way more important than being able to off road rough terrain. My Ridgeline gets me anywhere off the path that I want to go and can tow most anything that I need very comfortably. It looks better than past models of the Ridgeline, as they did a great job of updating it to resemble what a truck should look like. I actually get compliments regularly from people while I am out and about. It has so many features that are standard that you are charged extra for with other brands. All with legendary Honda reliability, and their proven six cylinder engine. This truck is a wise choice for those who must get the most bang for their buying dollar. Ask yourself honestly, Will I risk tearing my new expensive truck up,by going off into rough terrain? Will I need to tow over 5000 pounds? If the answer is yes, they buy a different truck. If the answer is no, then buy this truck.

Ridgeline for the win
I was torn between the Honda Ridgeline or the Toyota Tacoma and after test driving the obvious choice became the Ridgeline. Much more comfortable if a ride and better visibility. No need to upgrade this vehicle

2023 Honda Ridgeline is "Just Right" for most
Life long American "Big Truck" owner here but life has just changed for the better. At 57yrs young with a 100 mile work commute through the Appalachian Mountains of Central PA and a very active lifestyle (hunting, fishing, hiking, DIY'er). My last "big", "real" truck (Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi) was breaking my bank...primarily gas mileage & the fact it was 11yrs old w/ high miles (again, commute) w/ rust starting in many places. The Ram Hemi served me well & I have no complaints. I've had previous Rams, GMC's and Chevy's that also received high mileage & years also serving me well. So, I researched the crap outta mid sized trucks for months w/ the Ridgeline checking the most blocks. I purchased my new 2023 Ridgeline Sport two months ago. I'm not a big gadget/comfort guy when it so no higher trim needed. With that said, the Sport has more gadgets, comfort & safety features than I've ever had. At 5,000 miles today I'm not disappointed with this truck. It has plenty of (realistic) power, plenty of realistic payload and bed space and plenty of realistic towing capacity. Yes, I USE my truck as a TRUCK often yet rarely, in the past, towed over 5,000lb...rarely loaded my bed beyond 1,500lb & never "Off-Roaded" (only dirt roads/trails leading to hunting or fishing spots...NO ROCK CLIMBING!). Thus, the Ridgeline will ft my bill perfectly. The added bonus(s) has been 23mph combined (although, as noted, alotta highway), in-bed lockable trunk &&&... I can place 4x8 sheets (plywood/wallboard) flush to the bed floor!!! AND...like Toyota...this puppy should should last me years and 100's of thousands of miles! 1 negative is the quirky factory radio, annoying!!! Needs to b either fixed or changed as does not work right too often! In the end, no regrets during this short term and I recommend for must light truck owners.

Sonic Gray Pearl, nice color.
Love this truck. Had an 06 Ridgeline, did me well, looks like they addressed the valve tick that was common on these engines.Way more comfortable then the Gladiator I traded on her.

2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL is awesome
We sold our Chevy 2019 3500 Diesel as we no longer needed it. Instead of waiting for the 2023 Colorado to be released, we decided to look at the Ridgeline. After the 1st test drive, we knew this was our new vehicle. It already had the tonneau cover and all the amenities and safety features that we wanted at a very good price point. It is so comfortable, AWD is great especially in the snow, it trailered our boat with no issues and the fit and finish is awesome. We have never had a Honda before and already know we won't be looking at buying a chevy in the future. We love this vehicle!

8.5 out of 10 !
I love this truck , it does everything I need to it do and more . It’s just the right size for me . Big enough bed , love the lockable storage in the back. Edmunds rates it 8.5 out of 10 … check any OTHER cars on their site see what their ratings are . Not many get that high of ratings . It’s a comfortable, drives great ,carries everything I need ..and is solid ..

Smooth, comfortable, fuel efficient and capable.
In the past I have owned many trucks (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota). The 2023 Honda Ridgeline has been my most favorite so far. The roominess, ride quality and fuel efficacy (25 MPG Highway) of my truck is unmatched. Before the facelift a couple years ago I thought the "looks" of the truck were underwhelming. The current adaptation presents a sporty and elegant appearance. As for capability, the truck is more than adequate for my needs as a househusband and small business owner. The truck is Truly A Gentleman's Pickup.

Honda Ridgelike
This is my second Honda Ridgeline first was a 2020 now I got 2023. I have read countless comments about the Ridgeline not being a real pickup truck but the real thing is that after 8 or 12 hours of work I get on my Ridgeline and drive back home comfortable like I am driving a Cadillac or any other costliest car.

Nothing else comes close
This is my second Ridgelne. I've also had a myriad of pickups from compact to full size. Most were 4WD. I don't go off road. I tow trailers weighing around 3K. I do frequent 500 mile trips and that is where the RL shines. It's the most comfortable high way cruiser I have had. It makes driving a pleasure. The utility of the bed trunk setup is brilliant. Perfect no. The sensing functions are marginal. I hate the push button shifter.

ALL THE TRUCK ONE NEEDS
The Honda Ridgeline is all the truck I need. I had a 2012 and 2020 F150 prior to getting the Ridgeline. When I drove out of the Honda dealership I had a "moment" where I questioned if this truck was man enough for me. Lol that was short lived as the Ridgeline is capable of every truck duty I have needed it for. I dont own a farm and I dont tow anything huge. If you have those things then maybe you should get an F250 instead.

Left My Tundra back to Honda
Boss was having difficulty getting in/out my 2020 4wd tundra..got a black edition in sonic grey..29th new Honda since 1979..I can only echo the positive reviews others have mentioned..enjoying the two way tailgate and rear under floor storage is nice..the tire noise is a little more pronounced but it’s probably quieter than our 22 pilot se..independent rear suspension rides nicer than live axle Tundra..I must say it will probably never keep its value like the last gen Tundra did..but we are enjoying our well optioned Ridgeline…a recent 3 day trip produced 26 mpg in mostly highway scenarios..a quite decent senior citizen vehicle..

Reviews are Right
1 year old RTL 2023 model with everything running perfectly. Big pluses: truck-bed trunk, ride, basically everything EXCEPT the overly sensitive driver aids (believe the reviews - ACC can act really wonky) and the fact that a regular size ice chest doesn't fit in the bed IF you have a bed cover. Still love this truck, though.

My Ridgeline in central Virginia.
The Ridgeline is a polished pick-up truck. The drive component is composed and smooth with very comfortable seats. After an 8-hour trip I had no fatigue from the seat. Well-built with a solid structure. Has good handling. Good storage spaces. Well-engineered suspension. Quiet interior. Good headlights. Great sight lines. Spacious interior front and rear, with good headroom. The usefulness of the trunk and trick lift gate. Decent gas mileage, I average 20.5. An outstanding highway cruiser. The most glaring CONS: the electronics. The stereo is outdated. Wireless charging is useless. Same for the high-beam assist. Auto stop feature restarts with a jolt and needs refinement. The radar cruise is very hesitant to restart after slowing for vehicle in radar path. And, missing a few features that should be included at this price level (automatic folding mirrors, cooled seats, head-up display, all lighting should be LED lighting, and rain sensing wipers). Even with the weak electronics, the Ridgeline is a great driving truck. The drive/handling, quality build, and the polished nature of the truck all help to overlook the shortcomings. The Ridgeline is still a solid 4 out 5 stars with Honda's reputation for reliability.

2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL
I have owned 2003 Toyota Tacoma and 2007 Toyota Tundra. Both are excellent trucks. After deciding about a new purchase, I went to the 2023 Honda Ridgeline. It is not a traditional truck, but rugged and reliable as any Toyota truck, and it is not a turbo but a normally aspirated V6. I have owned the truck for 6 months. It can haul and drive as smoothly as a car. My wife loves it. We plan to take it back east when we retire next year. As solid and reliable as expected. Highly recommended!

Excellent real world mileage long trip comfort
Excellent mileage 28.7 mpg on 1411 mile road trip from 600 to 9500 ft elevation from Oklahoma to red river New Mexico plenty of power with approx 800 lb cargo weight on trip smooth ride handling excellent. Very dependable have 12100 miles so far looking forward to 300000 miles and more. This is my 3rd Honda .250000 miles on my 2011 accord/ 203000 on my 2013 pilot and 12100 on my 2023 black Edition Ridgeline no issues to date on any of them as of present. I have been blessed with these vehicles and will be a Honda owner for many years to come . Honda keep doing things right. I am thoroughly impressed. BEST CAR LIKE TRUCK
I believe this is the best car like truck on the market today. It rides like the Pilot, but gives you the versatility of a pick-up. The trunk in the bed is perfect for a set of golf clubs so they are always with you but out of site. Haas good performance and the RTL-E gives you all the extras you want or expect from the vehicles being produced today

transmission surging at low speeds- neck brace?
at low speed, 20-50 km/hr. the truck surges. just touch the gas and it surges forward. let your foot off the gas and the torque converter? kicks in and slows the vehicle. there is no "coast" in between acceleration and engine braking. very agrevating. if they can't fix it, its gone
Utility SUV
I love the Honda Ridgeline. Drives like an SUV and works like a truck. Fantastic vehicle.
Great mid size pickup
This truck drives like a car, smooth and easy to handle. The engine six cylinders are more than enough for the size of this truck. The many features standard on the vehicle seem more than standard on many other trucks.

Great Truck Soft Brakes
Just bought a new 2023 Ridgeline. Very spacious and comfortable. Very similar to our 2021 CR-V except for one thing. the brakes are TOO SOFT! I have a mountainous trip coming up and I am not looking forward to the decline, I just don't trust the brakes. Other than that, the truck is perfect!!

Not Such a Good Buy
Going in for the 2023 Honda Ridgeline, I had really high hopes after reading all the glowing reviews. Three weeks and 300 miles later, I am crying foul! The vehicle drives well, although a little low on power, coming from an 8-cylinder Lexus. In any case, my disappointment stems from the fact that I am getting very low mileage. For a vehicle touted to get a minimum of 18 MPG for city and 24 for Hwy, I'd say 13.8 miles is a bit mean. Right out of the factory, I was getting 14.9 MPG. It gradually sank to 12.8 and then snuck back up to 13.8. I took it back to the dealer and was told that new cars have to be driven a few miles to start getting good gas mileage. I thought that was baloney. A new car should be getting way better mileage from the get go. It has since hovered around a steady 13.8 MPG. At this point I am debating whether it would be to my benefit to launch a return the car to the dealer before my 30-day window closes. I know there is no lemon law in TN, but I can't imagine driving this car for its life with this insatiable appetite. I should have just bought an 8-cyl GMC. At least I know what I am getting.

Hate the Idle Stop System and downshifting!
Just bought a 2023 Ridgeline RTL, only 1700 miles on it. So far so good. The truck drives well, is well equipped, and looks good. I hate the idle stop feature; you can disable the idle stop system but you must do it every time you start the engine. Also, the truck supposedly was assembled in Alabama; some clown stripped a screw while installing the console and just left it. It was very, very, very difficult to remove the stripped screw! Also, I hate the constant downshifting on hilly terrain! Other than that, nice truck so far.

Black Edition Upgrade
This is my fourth Ridgeline. This one has all the options and I’m very happy with the upgrades. Update 19 care-free months and 17,000 miles. Still enjoy the simple layout and utility. Nothing I can say to add to other positive reviews. Mine is a lease and I’m looking forward to the next generation which will likely mirror the technology and ruggedness upgrades of the 2026 Passport. No complaints.

3 Jump starts in 2 days?
Bought my 2023 Honda Ridgeline in August 2023. Other than getting used to too many 'bells and whistles', I was pleased with my lease. UNTIL I had to kill time awaiting my daughter getting out of recovery room at hospital. I DID listen to my radio with just ACC on but for less than 10 minutes. Drove to another parking lot but changed my mind about doing unneeded shopping and my truck wouldn't start. Called AAA and the man jumped it. He told me two nights before he had a woman call him for a new Honda for a jump and the very next morning, needed another jump. Drove to Hyannis Honda and didn't shut it off until a Service man came out and he shut it off and it re-started fine plus went to visit at hospital - no issues. Next day I needed another jump start - I called Hyannis Honda and spoke to the same man that had shut it off and re-started. We agreed I would bring it in first thing Monday. I drove the truck around for an hour and parked and went into shop at a farm stand and didn't shut off the truck. This morning (next day) I went to start the truck - dead again! I will wait until tomorrow morning (Monday) to call again for a third jump and drive it directly to Hyannis Honda. This is UNACCEPTABLE for a vehicle that hasn't even gone in for it's first service!

Our third Honda was far from charming….
So some of the stuff I blamed the dealer for mainly that the car was not detailed out and that cooler underneath the truck bed smells like a cheap boat and was absolutely filthy because they leave the cars outside so I guess that is just the dealer, but there were so many things wrong with the car. The most annoying was I squeak and rattle at 65 miles an hour that they could not fix right away and I was going to have to leave my car with them forever so a brand new car disabled and in the shop for something that should never never have happened I usually research my cars on websites like Edmunds and car magazines I subscribe basically to many of them none of them alerted me to the fact that the Honda safety features especially the cruise controls are terribly lacking in sophistication . the cruise control, quits working at 25 miles an hour. It just turns itself off. This is ridiculous, all of my other cars have stop and go cruise control and you can use it in the city where it is very handy in traffic. even though the Honda had a back up camera the back lights were so dim they failed to illuminate what was in the rear, so I was very dissatisfied with their so-called technology features In the short period of time that I had the truck. It never came close to approaching the mileage that it was supposed to get neither around town nor on the highway and there is so much cheap looking black plastic on the truck that you better buy stock in Armor-All . needless to say I lost money and got rid of it quickly. my prior experience with Honda was very good and involved almost 300,000 miles of trouble free motoring.divided between two Accords. The Ridgeline does not deserve even a one star rating. I disliked it so much i traded it in after one month of ownership and took the loss.

Hazard ar night in back roads
I drove a Honda Ridgeline 2013 putting on 350 000 klms. Loved the truck. No problem. Bought the black out edition 2023..2 months ago and will be trading it in. Looking at different brand. This is a uninody on a passport. Rides like a car with a loose steering wheel. The windshield blacks out 3 quarters to not have safe driving North in the back roads. It's a city vehicle with light pollution to see. The headlights on low get flashed because they are too bright thinking I have my high on and I don't. The dealer told me to use high beams as much as possible because it only see 4 guardrails I front on road my old truck low beams could see 150 ft. Dealer said design of brow over the light of truck design blocks the lights. Driving it feels like a blind mini van with a box. After 10 years a Honda Truck driver totally disappointed. Unfortunately I'm leaving Honda. Take my loss and moving into a 2024 GMC. Honda doesn't have a truck . Highlight the swing tailgate.
Saved my life
My husband's Honda Ridgeline saved my life last week. Another driver pulled out in front of me to make a left-hand turn across two lanes of traffic. I had about a second to react and not hit her driver's side door head-on. I hit the brakes hard, turned the wheel to the right as far as they'd go in that time frame, and managed to hit at an angle. The truck took the hit along the left front quarter panel, also shredding the front left tire. It aimed me towards a metal pole. I could still turn the truck to the left to avoid hitting the pole head-on. All the airbags were deployed. I walked away with a bruise on my arm and a couple of cuts to my face because of my glasses. The other driver was completely unscathed because the truck maneuvered so well in a crisis. The accident was unavoidable (except for the other driver not making a left-hand turn without looking). I don't know if another vehicle would have protected me as well.
