From CR-V to Pilot

2006 Honda Pilot LX 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

I just recently brought a Pilot and I love everything about this vehicle because of more space and comfort. I went from CRV to Pilot which was a huge upgrade. The CRV was a great small SUV but wanted something bigger for hauling things for my small business and to tow a camper trailer. It also gets great gas mileage for the sizes of the vehicle and been getting 21 and 22 mpg in town and a little highway mixed. Can't wait to drive it longer on the highway and see if it gets 26 mpg. It looks similar to the CRV but it's nicer inside and outside and it drives quiet and rides softer than the CRV.

Love my Pilot!

i bought the 2006 Pilot after owning a minivan for 5 years and I love my Pilot. The ride is very nice and the interior extremely comfortable. I have lower back problems and have never had any additional pain from driving the Pilot, even on long trips. The 3rd Row seats are wonderful for my children and quite roomy. I've read other reviews that state they don't receive very good gas mileage, but I keep track and I average about 17 mpg with mostly city driving so I am very happy with the performance. I will certainly look at the updated model when it is released to replace my '06 model. I truly love my Pilot!

Primarily bought for my wife, currently we have 12000 miles on the pilot and have had no problems. Great features such as the leather seats, DVD, AWD, and definitely a bargain compared to what other SUVs cost and charge extra for.

Noisy ErgoNot

I bought a Honda Pilot because of Honda's reputation and my need for an SUV. I traded in a fully-loaded, Ford Explorer Ltd Edition, that was a fun and reliable piece of luxury machinery. I came to realize that the Pilot is incredibly noisy on the highway. Every little creak and creep of the tires, body and plastic is amplified tenfold. Additionally, the egonomics are ErgoNOTmics. The steering wheel blocks the gauges. The steering controls are constantly being activated by my fingers, accidentally, while turning (very annoying and dangerous). The radio controls are backwards and difficult to reach with the seat completely back. The trip odometers are impossible to reset while driving, etc.

Good, but not great

I've owned this car for 15 months now. This is a very good, safe and reliable SUV. It's very solid with no rattles. However, there is more road noise that expected. The gas mileage ratings of 17/22 are a dream. Reality is more like 14/20. I've taken this vehicle on several 300 to 800 mile trips. I've soft pedalled the gas and kept the speed between 70 & 75. The best I've seen is 20 MPG. I would certainly recommend the Pilot, as long as you know ahead of time the mileage is overstated.
