Used 2019 Honda Accord Sedan Consumer Reviews
Gives you way more than you could ask for.
I've had my 2019 Accord 2.0T for 2 years now. This car is great. It can do things that an Accord has no right to be doing. I'll start with the engine. The 2.0T is undoubtedly quick. There's always ample power right on tap. It's shockingly easy to dust people without even trying. The torque comes in really low in the rev range, so all you need is a subtle tap and you're gone. The engine has an interesting way of making you work for the power. In typical Honda fashion, there are times where you have to put your foot into it a little, but just subtly ask and you're rewarded with quick, smooth, precise acceleration that leaves everybody behind you gone. I've never driven a 4 cylinder turbo that just gives it to you like Honda does. A truly remarkable engine. The handling, oh man. This car will surprise you with how well it carves corners. The body stays remarkably flat, the steering communicates with you to a very precise level. The steering has a perfect amount of weight, precision, and sharpness that I really love. Not even some expensive sport sedans can capture the same feel. The car can be whipped around all day and it never feels shaken by anything. Take a tight curve on an interstate and it's so easy to keep the car perfectly tracked and centered in the lane at high speeds. Even really tight corners are an absolute breeze. The car grips so well and feels very sturdy, smooth, and refined while doing it. It's almost like it's saying "is that all you got?". It truly does not feel FWD with the level of handing capability it provides. I've taken this car to some really high speeds and it always feels just as competent doing it as it does driving 30 mph through a neighborhood. It tracks perfectly straight, it's very easy to control the exact position of the car, even on roads with sloppy and undulating pavement. It has this certain on-rails feel that I really love and admire. The 10-speed auto is worth talking about. When my hard-to-please father drove the car, he did not like the 10-speed as it is not quite as buttery smooth as Toyota's tried and true autos. However, I personally love the 10-speed. You feel the shifts slightly more compared to other cars, but never to a bothersome or disruptive level. It's just enough to feel mechanically connected to the car without being disturbed by the shift quality. 90% of the time, the shifts are very smooth, quick, and precise. This 10-speed auto really has a way of shifting exactly when you want and adapting to your driving style like no other automatic I've driven. It feels like a hand fitting perfectly into a glove with the way that it shifts. It reads hills, traffic, and varying terrain very well and adjusts accordingly. It doesn't typically downshift lighting quick, but that's just the nature of this car. You get more torque riding the engine out in a higher gear, than you do with a snappy downshift. The transmission gives you the linear feel of a CVT but the precision and connectedness of an automatic. Even the response from the car impresses me to this day. The accelerator is tuned precisely to how you want it. Any little input on the throttle makes the car react in the exact way that you expect it to. The brakes kick in really sharp but it's easy to be smooth and precise with them. Very smooth and powerful brakes, there's no brake chatter or lack of refinement in the pedal at all. The only discomfort you may feel while braking is just the simple inertia of slowing down, that's it. It does all of this while maintaining a really smooth and comfortable ride. Truly, this car glides right over bumps and road imperfections. It is very gentle, yet so precise. Road noise has never been an issue for me. The car also has ample features. The EX-L 2.0T gives you everything you could possibly want, need, and expect from a modern car, without anything frivolous. The leather seats are supportive and comfortable even on long drives, the LCD tachometer looks great and is easy to use. The center screen looks good and responds quick, has a nice Apple Carplay and Android Auto setup, and it's very easy to access whatever you want through the screen. Buttons and controls feel very sturdy and well put together. The two-tone dash looks good and I've been very pleased with the aesthetic and material quality. The LED headlights provide good visibility at night. The ring around the climate controls changing color is nice attention to detail. The center console is huge and provides great storage. The remote start is also great and reliable on cold or hot days. The engine does take a while to warm up, but the heat and A/C both kick in very fast, within only 2-3 minutes of driving even in extreme temperatures. I could go on and on about the positives. However, what would a good review be without negatives? I'll touch on the handling again here. While I do really praise the handling of the Accord, it does have a very subtle amount of heftiness/instability to it. If you dart into the next lane really fast or try to fool around too much at high speeds, you can feel the body shifting around. It's still a midsize sedan in that aspect, you can only fight physics so much. The heated seats don't get very warm, though that is a trait of most modern cars I've been in. The push button gear shift is definitely weird at first, though you do get used to it. The engine sound is a little brash, and while that's never been an issue for me, some people might not like it. I'm still not in love with the exterior styling, though I do think it's a respectable and good looking car. That said, I'm really nitpicking here and these negatives do not detract from the overwhelming positives in any significant way. I'm probably missing some things here, but overall this car has been very comfortable, reliable, and great to drive.
