What is the GV60?

The 2023 Genesis GV60 is an all-new, all-electric subcompact luxury SUV. It shares many components with the forthcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, but the GV60 adopts many of Genesis' styling traits that include an oversized grille and double-striped headlights and taillights. The clamshell style hood is a nice touch and we dig the neatly integrated rear spoiler, but the overall look is one that will have to grow on us over time. The interior features more refined materials and additional tech features to match a higher price compared to where its Hyundai/Kia siblings sit.

What's under the GV60's hood?

All GV60s will pull from the same 77.4-kWh battery pack and feature all-wheel drive courtesy of an electric motor at each axle. Combined output between the two motors stands at 314 horsepower on the entry-level Advanced model. Estimated range is 248 miles, according to Genesis, which is pretty good considering the capacity of the rather small battery pack.

If you're after even more poke, the Genesis will happily sell you a top-of-the-range GV60 Performance model that produces 429 horsepower normally, or up to 483 hp while you're using the short-term Boost mode. Range falls slightly to 235 miles, but we think the significant power gains are worth the minor hit to ultimate range.

It's worth noting that when Genesis first pulled the wraps off the GV60, a single-motor version with 225 horsepower was intended to be the base powertrain. We don't yet know if this rear-wheel-drive model will eventually appear in the lineup.

How's the GV60's interior?

Like a number of major automakers these days, Genesis is focusing on sustainable manufacturing processes for its new EV. As a result, some of the GV60's interior panels, including the seats and armrests, are covered in a synthetic leather. The seat inlays and parts of the door card are made from fibers that are harvested from recycled plastic bottles and fishnets. Genesis is also offering the interior with five different color palettes to give customers the chance to go for something unique.

How's the GV60's tech?

The GV60 comes with a healthy list of standard features, including a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and a full suite of advanced driving aids. You also get some cutting-edge tech like a fingerprint reader and the first application of Genesis' Face Connect feature — designed to grant access to the vehicle without a key and match a driver with his or her vehicle presets.

I agree with the previous poster, the only downside is not having the wireless Apple and android carplay. Otherwise I’m really happy with the design, acceleration, charging speed and mileage. I believe the car is supposed have a range between 235-248 but my Advanced 2023 GV60 consistently charges up to 275 mile range. I usually never drive it below 50% charge. I do wish they sold this …

It's pricey and truthfully it's a step down in luxury from the GV70 Sport Prestige I had. But the acceleration and torque are unbelievable. Biggest downside is lack of wireless Android auto and apple play. And range isn't the best, but it charges very quickly.
