2025 Genesis GV70

There was a time when luxury and affordability were mutually exclusive terms, but in the 1990s that all changed when Japanese carmakers spun off their own upmarket sub-brands. South Korean manufacturer Hyundai followed a few decades later with Genesis and has been making a strong impression since. The 2025 Genesis GV70 is the company's small SUV, bookended by the smaller all-electric GV60 and larger midsize GV80. As with Hyundai, Genesis makes its mark with value, delivering a lot of features at a more attainable price while maintaining a very high level of quality.

You can't go wrong with either of the Genesis GV70's engine choices as both the four-cylinder and six-cylinder deliver plenty of power that will easily satisfy the vast majority of drivers. Unlike some of its European competition, the GV70's suspension is tuned to favor comfort and compliance more than handling performance. As a result, it's more composed over rough pavement for a more serene in-cabin experience. The Genesis GV70 is our favorite small luxury SUV for a number of reasons. You'll save a few thousand compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLC or BMW X3, but that's meaningless if the quality and performance aren't there. To the GV70's credit, you likely won't be wanting for more athleticism, and the interior is most certainly up to luxury SUV standards. If performance is a priority, you'll have to spend a whole lot more for the higher-end Benzes, BMWs or the Porsche Macan.
