Gee, we must be one of the lucky ones!
We bought our windstar with @45k. Less than two years later we have 85k on it. It has traveled very well for us. So far we have only fixed the front brakes and some wiring damaged by a mouse that got in our van! Brakes are sometimes squeaky and engine runs loud - but this appears to be the case with every other Ford I see (or hear) on the road. So far, I like my van!
I like mine
Bought with 110,000 miles on it. It now has 125,000. I know that's not much for a review but I have had zero problems with mine. Not even an odd noise. And the paint still looks new.
good
the windstar is a great minivan, the 3.8l provides plenty of power a bigger motor than most, bigger is not always better but in this case its close, it also has the nicest rims you can get and 5 star crash test 9 years and runnin, they're doing something right
Should have bought the Oddesy!
Bought the vehicle pre-owned after we found out we were having twins. Did research, safety was great I didn't expect the vehicle to be so awful. Replaced PC Module after 3 months, tranny after 9 months. Have numerous electrical problems, doesnt start on cold days. What a mistake I should have spent the extra money for the Honda. Called Ford Motor Co., and they don't seem to give a hoot. Pretty bad when I work in the car industry myself as a sales consultant. Can't wait for the Saturn Mini-Van in 2005 model year.
Nomorefords
I have owned two Windstars; '95 & '97. Bought the '95 used. Engine blew. Bought a new '99 LX with 4 doors. Justification was the '99 was "redesigned". I learned "redesigned" does not mean "improved" it just means different. All of the same problems everyone else has had.The pinging started at mile 1 off the dealer lot. Blamed many times on bad gas in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Finally with 74K they replaced intake manifold - on my nickel. What a difference! First time it ran right. Now the tranny problems begin. At 94K traded for used Tahoe.
