Worst Vehicle I've Ever Owned
My 2006 FORD F150 4X4 4.6 motor was probably the best looking land-boat (break out another thousand) that I ever owned. I purchased it as a lease return in 2008 with 26,000 miles on the odometer. Within 30 days the four wheel drive crapped out, costing the dealer $1,800.00 to repair. At another 30 days the instrument cluster dies and I had to wait two months for a new one. Three months later the left front vacuum operated locking hub froze and had to be replaced. Apparently this was a once a year issue for me (owned the truck for 5 years) as water and crud would work its way into the sealed unit. Then both front window regulators starting squealing so bad everytime the window went up or down, that they were replaced. Then the posi rear-end stopped being posi and the clutch disks had to be replaced. Then the real fun started. At about 120K miles the alternator died on the way to work. It was replaced but the the truck would engage in four wheel drive all by itself and the alternator would discharge all the way. I'd have to stop the truck and shut everything off. Re-start and then wait (usually within minutes) before the whole sequence would start all over again. Three alternators later.....same thing. Traded it in on a RAM.

Transmission Problems
The transmissions are junk in these trucks and Ford Motors will not even acknowledge that there is a problem with their design. A person with a normal job making less than $40,000 a year cannot afford both maintenance and the payment on one of these trucks.

Not bad for the money
I was very surprised with how roomy the interior is for the size truck. The seats are pretty comfy and are very accommodating HOWEVER they stain VERY easily and it is hard to it out. I have had this ford for 23k miles and I have noticed a few disheartening issues. 1)always seems to be a quart low on oil. 2) always smells of hot brakes and burnt oil after even a 40 mile drive. 3)Bed liner is cheap! 4)Always has a shutter/ticking while at slow speeds along with a clunking sound when accelerate from a stop as the weight shifts. 5)THE GAS MILEAGE STINKS!even when i was hauling a refrigerator my mileage was pathetic! I have the 5.4L but I would still not expect the mileage to punk out that bad!
rough idle on start
Bought this truck used 2 weeks ago, dealer gave a warranty, thank god....Noticed it had a miss at cold start. Took it to the dealer a week later...they have had the truck for 3 days now...changed plugs, checked fuel pump...still no word on what the problem is....said the compression was low...still waiting on the verdict....I am happy with the looks and comfort, but not happy with this issue, this is my 4th ford...all the others were wonderful
More Bang For Your Buck
You can't beat what you get for the dollar. Found this truck for thousands less than Dodge or GM, and got cloth interior which was way better than the Chevy W/T package. Getting 19 MPG with 4.6 v8. Use the truck to haul and have had no problems, have only done general maintenance, oil is easy to change. My only complaint is a light tailgate!
