Seat Skirt problem on drivers side seat
I have had my Expedition since 2/28/15 and I had problems with drivers side seat skirt where the bracket has broken twice. The first time was at 7000 miles and second time at 44000 after being repaired. I also went the dealership and voiced my concerns at 37500 oil change service that seat skirt was separating from seat. The dealership took pictures and I was told they would investigate the original work order on the repair and they would contact Ford. I never heard back from Villa Ford in Orange, CA. I returned to inquiry on their finding to only find that service person was I longer with them. I asked for Ford’s CSR number to Lodge a formal complaint. The weak bracket that holds the seat skirt looks not strong enough the the cover of the power seat and this is on a $50k truck. I had the exact same problem on my 2008 Eddie Bauer Expedition. Both are third generation Expeditions 2008-2017 models. Ford has ruled that there nothing they can do financially and rejected my request of this serial defect. This bracket is designed to failed my opinion and very poor craftsmanship for the interior of a $50K truck. You can understand once but this is the third time between my two vehicles. I never had this problem with my first 2002 Expedition which was part of the first generation. The bracket seems to fail if you slide across the seat as exiting the vehicle. The part is not made sturdy enough to hold a person weight. The dealership tried to tell me I had to step out of the vehicle by using the retractable side steps to avoid this from happening again. I follow the advice of the service department, but upon my visit back in March for my 37500 oil change service I noticed that the Villa Ford lot employee sold out across the seat just like 99% of the population would when e outing the vehicle. The employee delivering me my car is exiting the car incorrectly by Villa Ford own advice. If you can’t controll your own employees how can you blame the customer when your team is contributing to the stress to seat skirt. How can you control any valet, car wash or dealership to exiting the car without sliding out across the skirt? Ford has given me no choice but the not buy a Ford anymore for the poor quality and design of the seat skirt. I dont think I should pay $700 every other year to repair a product that not designed not to break. I have pictures but I didn’t see an option to add them. Disappointing outcome. Beware.

Beware!
I have been driving Ford vehicles for 25 years. My 2015 Ford Expedition King Ranch is perfect in every way, except one of the most critical....the windshield. The windshield cracked just 1 month after I purchased the vehicle and has been cracked for more than 3 months now. Apparently, Ford is unable to obtain replacement windshields for Expeditions with rain sensors. I paid more than 60k for this Expedition and it has been totally useless for 3 months. The rain sensing windshields are certainly a convenience but I would advise consumers against this upgrade until Ford is able to produce replacement parts.

Thought about a Yukon, then tried this…
We needed to upgrade tow vehicles since moving from a 12’ Scamp to a 23’ Outback. We were seriously considering a Yukon or Suburban. Then we test drove a 2012 Expedition Limited and was floored by the rude quality and features. The Chevy would certainly have done the job but it rode like a truck, very stiff and harsh. The Ford was just different, very quiet and smooth with the air ride independent rear suspension, 20’ all terrain tires, and capable towing capacity. Handling is surprising and taking it out into the forest service roads is never a problem. Rarely is 4x4 ever needed and in snow, just a flick to 4x automatic is all that’s needed. This thing weighs out at 5,500, so it’s a beast. But my 1986 full-size Bronco weighed 6,800. Ford did a lot of weight trimming here. Some people complain about the interior trim. Yes it’s plastic everywhere. But so is everything else in this world. It all works and is thoughtfully laid out. The pedals even adjust! Our Expedition has just over 220,000 miles on the original drivetrain. One big recommendation is to never miss an oil change (NEVER). The variable valve timing, camshafts, lifters, timing train all depend on clean fresh oil ALL THE TIME, so keep up on the maintenance schedule. The upside to this is that you can get one cheap, with a bad engine and do an (expensive) rebuild and still come out ahead (if you are a sadist). The engines are complicated pieces. But…if you wanted to throw $$ at it you could go crazy (twin cam anyone?). But stock is just fine for most of the universe. A recent trip from Missoula Montana to Olympia Washington, in winter, over several mountain passes, lots of slow going in 4x auto, got me to 18.5 mpg loaded. Considering the size, the safety, the convenience and comfort, it was worth the price. We were looking for a Chevy, but chose Ford for the long haul. Keep an open mind and you’ll be surprised at what the universe has to offer you.

Updated Review after 80,000+ miles
I had to have the throttle assembly replaced again. They seem to be an ongoing problem. Otherwise it seems to be running fine and as you would expect. My previous review was titled "Air conditioned seat - NO! Frozen butt - YES" This is still a major problem. Ford really screwed up the way the seats are cooled now and it is a real shame. The second issue is that I have had more mechanical failures on this vehicle then my previous ones so I have downgraded my stars. At 24,000 the struts needed to be replaced and at 33,000 I had to have the throttle assembly replaced. Luckily this was all under warranty. On a good note, I purchased a 30 foot travel trailer and the Expedition is pulling it nicely with a weight distributing anti-sway hitch. I had to change the exterior mirrors to an aftermarket brand because for some reason, Ford does not make a large telescoping mirror for the Expedition. My original review follows. This is my 3rd Expedition and my second with air conditioned seats, well supposedly AC seats. My previous one cooled your back along with your bottom and it was heavenly during the hot Florida summers. This new one only cools your bottom and does nothing for your back, both front seats are this way. In fact if you leave it on longer thinking that it will eventually get the back cold, it gets way too cold on the bottom, never reaches your back and you have to turn it off because it gets so uncomfortable. I have complained to Ford and had it back to the dealer twice but they are telling me that the "seats are functioning as designed." I say it is a design failure then! I didn't pay for AC seats just to get my butt frozen. EXTREAMLY disappointed in this 2105 design flaw.

9 years old and never had one issue
I love my expedition. This is my second. Neither have ever left me in the side of the road or broken down.
