Tailgate Issue

A.Wasson, 05/09/2021
2020 Ford Edge ST 4dr SUV AWD (2.7L 6cyl Turbo 8A)
5 of 5 people found this review helpful

I am leasing the ST model & while I love the car I have had nothing but problems with the rear tailgate. I have had it serviced at the dealer 5 times in the 7 months that I have had the car. I picked it up once again yesterday, & today it's not working once again! Very frustrating! Then the hazard light turned on as I got on freeway & earlier the car brakes turned on by itself with message about collision something or other. I was on a straight road with no one else on it & nothing to cause the warning to go off. I'm ready to turn it back to dealer!

The awesome 2020 Ford Edge

The 2020 Ford Edge Titanium is an awesome SUV! I absolutely love the features that came with mine. The driver assist feature and blindside feature in the driver and passenger side mirrors are a great feature to have! There’s also the brake assist when you get a certain distance within the vehicle in front of you! There’s also the Ford Pass app you can add to your phone where you can crank or turn off your vehicles engine. You can also use your phone to see the exact location of your vehicle at all times! There’s so many more options you can also get with your vehicle! This was an awesome purchase for me to give my wife for our 32 anniversary! She absolutely loved it! Happy Wife Happy Life!!!

Love my 2020 Ford Edge SEL

I wanted an SUV vehicle but one that handled smooth like a car- I had a 2005 Ford Five Hundred previously- and the 2020 Ford Edge did not disappoint. It has many positive features and after driving my Ford 500 for 15 yrs I was not sure I would ever be happy with any vehicle but the 2020 Ford Edge is awesome. Handles great, smooth ride and has plenty of cargo space, more than the Ford Escape. Only bad thing I can see is that Ford is discontinuing the Edge after 2022 and my lease is up in 2023 so once again I will be forced to find a vehicle I will like.

Transmission Problems on a 2020 Ford Edge Platinum

Disappointed Ford Edge Owner, 06/13/2021
2020 Ford Edge Titanium 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A)

I purchased a 2020 Ford Edge Platinum in early April of 2021. I purchased this SUV from a Ford dealership in Valdosta, Georgia. I did not test drive this particular vehicle because I had already test driven another Ford Edge at another dealership. Well, as soon as I drove off the lot, I noticed that the engine on the Ford Edge had a funny buzzing sound. The engine sounds like a sewing machine that is on its last leg. When I tried to accelerate, the vehicle started bucking, skipping, etc. The vehicle just didn’t want to accelerate. I told myself to ignore the issues with my new car since I have not had a new car in over eleven years. But, as I have continued to drive the Edge, the issues have only gotten worse. So, I took the vehicle to my local Ford Dealership (not where I purchased the vehicle), and the service manager told me there is nothing wrong with my car. WHAT????? Yes, there is. So, I started a case with Ford Motor Company. A representative helped me get a service appointment with the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. I had to wait over two months because they didn’t have a loaner, etc. This past week was my appointment. The service manager at the Valdosta dealership called and told me that there is a TSB #21-2081 on the Ford Edge. He told me that they have updated the software as stated on the TSB, and that I now need to drive the vehicle a week for the vehicle to adapt to the new software. Why hasn’t the dealership already done the software update? Seems like they haven’t done their job by not checking everything before this vehicle left their dealership. Poor management, professionalism, and sorriness, if you ask me. This whole experience has caused me to hate this Ford Edge and the Ford Motor Company. This week I plan to get rid of it. I will never buy another Ford.

Beautiful car with a JUNK engine

I’m full of regret from buying a ford. Brand new 2020 edge has transmission issues that no one will acknowledge or admit to. Main issue is 0-35mph. It jerks and hesitates between gears. Especially around slow wide turns. It’s scary and very disappointing after paying so much for a car. It’s a bit noisy until it hits 40mph. Once you get that fast it drives fine. Their solution- “drive it hard”...nice smh. Interior is nice but what good is that when it drives like a go cart. I’ll never buy a ford again. The manufacturer could care less. I will trade it in ASAP

awesome ride!

smooth ride when the turbocharge kicks in; very roomy in the front and back. reclining back seats, leather seat, navigation, driver assist, cruise control, handfree phone, etc. Love all these features. Drives better than the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento. Ford offered much bigger discount than Hyundai, so that pretty much sealed the deal.

Ours and many others owners with the 2.0 engine are stuck with a hefty repair bill when you are told, that you need to replace your motor in your car. Because of a factory defect in the casting of the engine block, it failed at any mileage or time, no reason or why. It lets water seep into the cylinder and the engine fails. But the best thing, Ford doesn’t care. We were just in our 4th year and garage kept, retired. Be ready for a big bill, ours $7000 and the car has been sitting at the Ford dealership for a month, the engines are on back order. No release date.

After only 2 months of owning a 2020 Edge ST, finding it goes dead, like battery has been drained. See this also in Ford forums. And tow truck driver has seen this many times. Not good when you cant rely on a brand new vehicle.

Well, we're back to Ford again. We've owned a Bronco (our start with Ford) three Expeditions, two Explorers, a T-Bird (older version), a Mustang, a Focus, a Fusion, a F150 Sport 4X4 (my husband's current truck), a Taurus SHO (I'm sorry I ever sold that one) and now . . . an Edge. Despite all the cars I researched, I ended up with a Ford. As with most Ford, products, we just get more for our money and great quality and customer service. We have never had issues with our Fords and I have no complaints about the service I've received from any Ford Dealership. I just came from a Chevy Volt (also excellent customer service). Interesting concept, and I saved a ton on gas, but just too small. I don't need anything as big as my husband's F150 or a third-row seat SUV. I really like the Edge. I purchased a 2020 SEL just a week ago. Maybe too early for a review, but I really do like it. It handles well, and it has more bells and whistles than I really need - but I still like them. Nice having AWD again, as we live in the mountains. Plenty of pickup. I agree with some of the reviews I've read, the transmission is a little hesitant at take-off, but not a deal breaker. I like the power lift gate, power button to flatten the back seats, remote start, blind spot monitoring/lane assist, etc. and the auto brights were a nice surprise. It's the perfect size for me. I prefer the uncomplicated, simple dash of Ford vehicles. Lots of cargo space, even without the back seats down, and my 7-year old granddaughter, who despised getting into the Volt as she got taller, loves the space. The seats are very well padded, comfortable and high quality. The Edge isn't huge, but so much bigger and more practical than the Volt. I put 500 miles per week on a car and trade often. Okay, I'm going to miss only putting gas in my car once every two weeks or so - the Volt was a real gas saver and a great car, but I think I'm really going to enjoy the Edge! 03/22 Update - Still love the Edge. I'm disappointed that the auto lift gate doesn't ever work. I can't seem to get my foot in the right spot. I've heard that complaint about other brands as well. Very happy with my purchase. Of course, now that gas has gone up, it's a punch in the gut every time I fill up, but you can't have everything. Averaging about 25 MPG, which isn't bad at all considering my heavy foot. Very happy with my Edge. Highly recommended.
