Econoline Review
This van is definitely a family vehicle. It is sure to be comfortable for all ages and great for weekends away from home. Car had been very dependable with no major repairs to date.
Good van
a good van, It used to be my boss's private van for hauling people, untill he got a newer one, We took the seats out and put a shelving unit in. It is loaded down to the max all the time, but still works good at 130,000 miles. Brakes give me a little bit of trouble because of the heavy load it hauls.
It's a moving living room!
This Vehicle is great and fun to drive. The intirror is comfortable and u hrdly know that your moving.
Got a Lemon
Luckily I bought the 70000 mile extended warranty. At 50000 miles the transmission went out requiring a complete rebuild. At 65000 miles the engine leaked coolant into the crankcase requiring a new longblock. Most irritating was that the radiator was replaced by Ford with a faulty radiator which I drove 18000 miles in 8 months---Fords policy is 12 mo. or 12000---which means I had to Pay. In one three month period the dealership had the van longer than I did!.I hope that this is indicative of the newer vans--my 1990 has 200000 on it and going strong.Warning! don't buy the V6 standard engine---it's absolutely gutless in every sense of the word.
Heavily used van, great reliability
We have 3 children, one handicapped and load up the van for semi-annual trips of 500 miles. We've never run out of room and the trips are always comfortable. The van had a service contract for 3 years. We've had no major problems, until last year when we replaced the transmission after 140,000. Now the A/C is shot and unrepairable. We'll trade it in and get another.
