Hard to understand why this vehicle had 4 doors when it runs and handles like it should have 2. Very nice package. Bettr than the V-tec 94 Prelude we have.

A true partner for the road and track

This car gave me 185,228 miles of devoted service before passing into the automotive afterworld. Every mile was a pure pleasure, whether on the road or on the track. Great for long trips, aggressive driving, racing, and the daily commute. I could not ask for anything more of a car. Access is great, even if the rear is a little tight. My 90+ year old grandma always commented how easy the car was to enter/exit.

Close to being declared a lemon in Ca.

The SVT Contour left such a horrible impression on me, I am now writing this review seven years after owning one. My first mistake was buying a first gen specialty car. Problems became as persistent as the car was fun to drive. Leaking truck, upper reading light console broke, dash started to warp around 62K miles and the first of three transmissions was replaced at 64K miles by Ford dealership. A year later tranny goes out again: $1,800 at Amco. Two weeks later tranny fails again; Amco replaces for free under warranty. Ford denies mechanical failures are due to poor design. Maintenance costs would have yielded a moderately used BMW at the time.
