Fun To Drive
This car is so much fun to drive, it takes the corners like its on a track. I love this car ever since the day i frist drove it. It is a great starter car for that teenager looking for a sports car.
Very Balanced Car
I bought the car from a guy who had just put a new engine in it after the water pump blew at 63,000 miles. It runs like a champ. Exhaust sound is nice. Interior is very nice. Prior owner also had new clutch put in; he should have had the shifter forks and synchros done as well since I had to do that just recently. If you have transmission work done get it all done as labor is the killer for transmission work, as the parts aren't that much. Gets great mileage and is an awesome car in terms of speed. Very easy to go fast in this car. Great car for the $7500 I paid for it, plus my engine is under warranty still! I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

98 svt 62K
as I was driving my new Contour svt home from the dealership the waterpump went! (62K miles) not what I was expecting from a new purchase car.. but they fixed it and it seams to run fine now!
One of a kind
I fell in love with this model when I worked at a Ford dealership in 1998. I am a family man and could not justify the price of a new one so I put it out of my mind. Last year I saw a nice one on E-bay and placed a bid for $2700. Not only was that the set minimum but 30 minutes later I was the proud owner! I drove 150 miles to pick it up and fell in love all over again! The growl of the engine, the smooth shifting, the elegant interior and the white face gauges. I had it tuned up this year...ouch! It has been problem free and the most fun car I have ever owned. Now I am practical (a 4 door) and cool (so my kids say). When you start this baby and she growls at you, she makes you growl back.
This car is awesome
In reading other reviews of the Contour, it becomes evident that the owners of higher level Contours (SVT and SE/SE sport) are far more pleased with their cars. For me, the SVT was an obvious choice due to its ground effects with wire mesh, standard leather seats, strictly 5-speed transmission, and last but definitely not least, the amazing sound that this car lets out. Sometimes I find myself turning the radio off to listen to my exhaust. Once the car hits 3500 RPM's, you can hear and feel the power that the Duratec 2.5 High Output produces.
