I bought this 1998 SVT Contuor in 2003 after always wanting one. This car does not dissapoint. It is certainly a drivers car. Not the fastest at drags, but it will outdo most anything when it comes to finesse and balance. I am impressed there are no rattles or shakes at 60K miles. Surprisingly solid. I would recommend buying one used over many of the new sports sedans of today.

This is about as close as any american car company has gotten to german engineering quality and performance. The stock shifter is alot like an 80's honda, but it flies with a short throw replacment. This car is definately a collector, and I would suggest purchasing one to anyone that has the opportunity. There are not many of these cars out there, so get them if you can. The only downfall is the lack of a healthy aftermarket. It seems that ford built the SVT Conour and then forgot about it. But many parts for the Cougar are interchangable.

This car is so much fun to drive, it takes the corners like its on a track. I love this car ever since the day i frist drove it. It is a great starter car for that teenager looking for a sports car.

I have owned this car for four years now and it continues to find new ways to put a big smile on my face! The great thing is I went from a single guy to a married-with-two-kids guy in the interim and I didn't have to give up the sports car! There's nothing like smoking 3-Series BMW's with your "lowly" Ford with your two-year old daughter screaming "wheeee" in the back. Great car, great drive, yeah the stereo was a pain but a quick aftermarket fix put an end to that.

as I was driving my new Contour svt home from the dealership the waterpump went! (62K miles) not what I was expecting from a new purchase car.. but they fixed it and it seams to run fine now!
