i purchased my Aerostar used. It's been to Cleveland and back about four times. All non stop driving at about 70 mph. Only stopped for gas. The body has dings and scratches but no rust. I love this little van and so the mechanics I take it to one actualy wants to buy it from me. I will never sell it though. It's got its little quirks but what auto doesn't.

Comfortable and Reliable

This vehicle has been virtually trouble free. The AWD makes it unstickable in the snow and gives great traction on slick boat ramps. The interior is spacious and comfortable (I'm 6'5" and have plenty of head and leg room). The optional captains chairs keep the kids from fighting on long trips and the extended length holds plenty of cargo. Fuel economy has been 19 mpg all around (3 mpg less when towing my 17 ft runabout). If Ford Motor Company still made Aerostars, I'd be first in line to order another.

No problems

Most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. Now have 102,000 mi. No mechanical failures. Just normal maintenance, and even that I've slacked off on. Took the beast on a 4,000 mile road trip with 93,000 on the ticker. Flawless, safe highway driving. Got an amazing 23 mpg on the open road. If you can pick one up with modest miles on it, do it.

Update: Nothing has changed and i can't afford to put more money into it. So, I'm not sure what's going on but this van will NOT drive up even the slightest incline and it keeps smelling hot. It's fine on flat ground or downhill but on the freeway, on the slightest incline, it drops down to about 45 mph. It wad a friend of mines and she passed away and left the the van. She was 90 years old and had bought it new, it's had the best of care and maintenance, garaged it's whole life. It's flawless, 85000 original miles so I'd expect it to handle the mininimal freeway incline but it sure doesnt.. Maybe someone has some idea of why it might be doing this?

I have over 178,000 miles on ours and it still runs and drives great. Never a problem and the AC both front and back still work like new. We got it used and i have never had to fix anything on it. Used up two sets of tires. This is one amazing van. It just keeps going and going we love it. Best van I have ever had and I have had vans all my life.
