Used 2002 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 4dr Quad Cab ST 2WD SB (4.7L 8cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
Horrible
Radiator hose blew at 29000 miles. Blinkers don't work properly. And now the head gaskets blew at 36,800 miles and I don't even tow with it. Also the rear end hops real bad at highway speeds.
My first Truck Dodge Ram
I still own my dodge ram since 2004, bought it from a salvage dealer main reason it's a salvage title because it auto thief. It had 26k miles and right now has 99k miles and no mechanical problems at all. Recently I only drive it on the weekends and use to work only. But it was my daily truck in my college years and cruise around town. It does have poor mpg I average 11 city and 13 hwy with combine 12 mpg mixed driving. I personally like the 3rd generation design 2002-2009, don't like the new design it resemble to much of Toyota tundra not that I don't like it but it just look alike. I'll try not to sell it no matter how high gas prices is. Is going to be classic soon.

Dodge has a problem.....................
I love the design of this truck but have had numerous problems, mostly small, except for one. Other reviews of this vehicle refer to "rear end hop at highway speeds". Dodge actually has a name for it.They call it "beaming". It is an engineering flaw with the suspension. They are aware that the truck vibrates at highway speeds but have no fix for it.I have just lemon lawed mine. I went to test drive a replacement vehicle and it does the same thing as my lemon. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the rotors will warp!!!!
found out it's made in mexico. oh noooo. but the truck is great only a little jittery over rough surfaces. also i need to warn others of the rotors, they will warp. your first roadtrip and it will happen. go to dodge truck world.com and look under forums and brakes. warping rotors have 4 pages. plus this defect is only covered for 12 months or 12000 miles. after that, the local dealer for me chages 100 bucks to turn rotors.no aftermarket company makes em yet, so be forewarned.but other than that i love my truck. i have a 2002 qc with the 17 inch alloy option wheels
I'll never have another make of truck...
I've made some normal hot-rodding mods to my truck. It can almost run even with a Hemi Q/C, yet now gets 19 MPG on the highway. I love this truck, and can't pry my keister out of the seat (hence the abnormally high miles on it per year). It's reliability is rock-solid, and I can easily drive twelve-hour days or more. I'm a GM convert, and will always have a DCX Ram from here on out.
