Used 2000 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab Consumer Reviews
Dodge Dakota Quad V6 4X4
The interior is roomy and the rear seats are comfortable. Exterior styling is great and gets a lot of compliments. Performance is fair to poor. 15.5 mpg with A/C, less in winter in 4wd. Transmission performance is poor, shifts very hard when accelerating uphill. The truck seems to bounce down the road. I won't buy another Dodge truck.
Very reliable
I have had this truck for 4 years now.It is by far one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I bought it in 2001 when it only had 25,000 miles on it.I now have 92,000 miles on it and it still performs like a new truck. Everyone who rides it say it rides like a car.I have driven from georgia to Oklahoma several time without a glitch. Whenever I travel driving ,I drive my truck . I get complements all the time about how beautiful a truck it is. The only problems I have had is the air conditioner compressor went out and,the passenger door lock was humming when activated. Those problems were covered under the warranty and resolved. I think I can say I love my truck.

2000 4.7 Auto Quad Cab
Love this truck. The handling and power are well above what I expected for a "mid"sized truck. The 4.7 V8 accelerates flawlessly and has power on demand on the interstate. At 47500+ miles she still has NO rattles/noises inside the cab, very low wind. NO excessive tire wear for the mileage(with my regular rotations). Problems encountered: engine rough idle. Crank Shaft Position Sensor failed. The electric aux fan relay stuck on, damaging the fuse box, dealer replaced with a loaner Durango the whole wait. My brakes chirp constantly even with cleaning. Summary: QC still performs as good as the day I drove her home.
I Like It
It's been a great truck. There are times where I wish I had the 4.7 instead of the 5.9, but other than that, I can't complain. The only major problem I've had with it was the transmission went out at around 60K. I took it to Powertrain Development and they told me it was most likely not assembled correctly at the factory because of the way it failed.
Dodge the king of truckville
I have had my 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad cab for almost two years now and I have put on about 64,000 mi. on her with out a hint of a problem. At work I use her for hauling cases of beverage and parts, at home I use her for hauling the family and a trailer from Long Island to NJ, & PA. So I spend a lot of time in the truck, and I find the ride is smooth and quiet. My Dakota probably has the least cabin noise of any small pick up I have driven. OH YEA! It's fun to drive on the weekends (especially when the kids in there little 4 & 6 cylinder rev. rockets pull up) In my opinion the best value / Bang for your buck bar none!
