Great for the price, one of my favorite cars!
I was very iffy about buying the 2018 year equinox with the “reviews” I seen and the feedback but I bit the bullet and decided to buy one. Is it a bit boring? Yeah but the price in today’s market is well worth it. It’s a bit slow but extremely roomy. I bought mine used at 25k miles and currently I’m at 115k without any major issues. Personally I do my oil at 5k miles, transmission fluid changes at 50k miles, spark plugs at 60k miles as recommended by Chevy in case anyone wanted to know about maintenance. This car has a good sound system, reliability has improved, a quiet ride and I’m 6’4 with ample room for myself plus rear passengers. My only complaint would be the acceleration is awful compared to cars like the RAV4 and Rogue but at the end of the day the car gets me where I need to go.

Love my Equinox
2.0 L engine is fast. All wheel drive is excellent. Has safety features of a more expensive automobile such a automatic braking, lane keep assist, and the best camera (which shows overhead 360 degree view) that I have ever seen. The leather interior still looks brand new after 6 years.

Great car and even better when it comes to safety
I had a 2018 equinox premier 1.5 with every option and I loved it. I bought it used with 60,000 miles and had it till 78,000. I had it for a little over a year and I never experienced any problems with it, it wasn’t fast but it handled and steered very well and felt very solid. I maintained it well so it never gave me issues. I was making a legal left turn when I was t-boned by someone going 45 mph. all the airbags went off and the vehicle did a 180° but I was able to walk away with just some bruising and a sore hand. the side of the vehicle was crushed in but somehow all the doors could still latch shut. this equinox did incredibly well at keeping me safe but also held up very well to a hard impact. even a collision repair specialist said it did very well in the crash compared to others he’s seen. unfortunately it was deemed a total loss but it did its job and kept me safe. the equinox not be the best vehicle for long term reliability but it’s very safe and feels strong. I have a 2020 equinox now and it’s just as good. maintenance is needed if you want 200,000 miles out of it. Change the oil every 5k miles and transmission fluid every 45k miles, and coolant every 5 years. doing this will dramatically increase the life of it and it should be a pretty good vehicle.

Did not turn out to be what I'd hoped for
After owning a 2018 Chevy Equinox Premier 2.0T for nearly a year I realized it did not turn out to be the vehicle I thought or hoped it would be. The first few months it seemed great, the little 2.0 liter turbo engine performed well. After about 6 months I began to feek a noticeable vibration at speeds over 30 mph. Driving on smooth pavement felt like driving on a bumpy road, At highway speeds it was more of a vibration. On the first visit to the dealer for the problem I was told it's because the 9 speed transmission is shifting to higher gear and the engine if lugging. I disproved that by manually shifting into a lower gear, still the same problem. Second visit to the dealer I asked for a wheel balance check, and to check the suspension and shocks for any out of spec condition. They only checked the wheel balance which was ok. I realized I wasn't going to get any resolution to this issue. I was also frustrated with the navigation system. One of the worst I've ever used (also a complaint on an Equinox user forum). A good percentage of the time it would not recognize voice commands. Also interior noise level is higher than it should be for a $40,000 vehicle. I hadn't owned a GM vehicle for for 25 years, and I don't think I'll own one again. Took my losses and traded it in for a new 2019 Honda Passport.

A huge step in the right direction (Verified)
The 2.0 litre turbo will run on regular or plus, but premium fuel is well worth the cost in performance, mileage and the engine loves it. Easy to drive, acceleration and handling is great and this new generation Equinox is a huge improvement over all previous iterations. So far, tech features and electronics have been flawless. Headlights are very good, unlike some recent models we have owned. We are not traditionally a GM family, and during the shopping process looked at lots of SUV's before giving the Equinox a chance. Rarely am I impressed with any vehicle enough to say "WOW", but this car did that! And so far it has not disappointed. Great on the interstate, good acceleration and handling is very precise -- acceleration is always available and braking is flawless. Equinox lacks nothing we need, great on forestry roads, never falters and the option to select or deselect all wheel drive for better mileage is another plus. so happy! (not a single problem with this car/ SUV... and my better half loves the Equinox -- Over four years, it has become HER car! Continue to be VERY satisfied. Update after 35k miles and 4 years with this car has done nothing but reinforce the good. This is a very good SUV/ Crossover. The only maintenance required has been routine: wiper blades, tires, and rear brake discs. Performs like new, no problems to mention! Amazing GM product, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a compact/ midsize SUV... give the Chevy Equinox a try before buying... you will not be disappointed. Wife is a happy camper-- that's a big PLUS. I am not easy to please but happy to say after four years, Chevy did a great job with the 2018 Equinox 2.0 Liter Turbo.

Cold weather problems
Leased a new 2018 Equinox in November of 2017. Had problems immediately when driving on a road trip in Montana at 10 below zero with the engine slowing and unable to travel over 50 miles per hour. The nearest dealership indicated that the charge air cooler of the 1.5liter turbo system force up causing this issue. They cleaned the system and the vehicle got us home but then, a few weeks later this occurred again. We have now leased this vehicle for two years and have had the same issue nearly every winter, even after 5 trips to the dealership for "fixes" for this issue. Would not recommend this vehicle for use in cold climates.

Bullet Proof
My 2018 with 34K miles has to date been the most reliable car I have owned. Contrary to many reviews, I find the engine to be more than adequate. You drive torque, not HP.
