2022 Chevy Blazer Review

Sleek and stylish, the 2022 Blazer is Chevy's five-passenger midsize SUV that competes against rivals such as the Honda Passport and the Hyundai Santa Fe. This is the Chevy SUV to get if you find the Traverse too big or the Equinox too small. The Blazer's chiseled, Camaro-like styling could be a bonus too.

Not much changes for the 2022 Blazer. Most notably, Chevrolet eliminated the previous base trim levels — the L and 1LT trims — as well as the engine they came with, a 193-horsepower four-cylinder. It's no great loss since those trims were rather sparsely equipped and the engine was underpowered for a SUV of this size. The former 2LT trim is now the Blazer's entry-level trim, which is what we previously recommended anyway.

These changes, however, don't exactly catapult the Blazer to the front of the class. It falls behind top competitors in terms of cargo space and comfort — two areas that are pretty critical if you're in the market for a midsize SUV. The Blazer is a five-passenger SUV available in four trim levels: 2LT, 3LT, RS and Premier. The 2LT, 3LT and Premier come standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (228 horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque) and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Optional on those trims, and standard on the RS, is a 3.6-liter V6 (308 hp, 270 lb-ft). Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional for all Blazers.
