Positive Experience
I was concerned when purchasing because of the Consumer Reports below average reliability rating but the price was right so we went for it. Well five years later I'm happy to report that not one thing has gone wrong with my Blazer (other than the normal stuff brakes, battery, tires etc.) I change the oil every 3k miles and follow the suggested maintenance.
So far so good
Only had 1 mo. Mech. said except for possible oil leak this is a verry reliable veh. Could certainly use more power, but if you put your foot in it it will suffice. Verry good handling for size. Feels verry stable & corners well. Does not feel top heavy like others.

Bad tranny
i like this vehicle besides the fact that the tranny in it stinks. i've heard alot of bad things about Blazer trannies and now I can relate as my tranny went out last month. Otherwise a nice SUV. Plenty of power and a comfortable ride overall.
About to retire this at 110K miles
I am trading selling my 1997 Chevy Blazer after 5 years of ownership and 110 miles. Had about 3 major repairs (heater core, transmission, signal) all covered by an extended warrantee. This CAN'T handle for nothing in snow!
The Blazer from hell
After 10000 miles had to replace the ball joints and the brakes. drivers door as rattled since day one: can not be repaired. At 30000 miles the pinion seal gasket leaked and was replaced only to have the rear pinion bearing go 30000 miles later. Windshield wiper modular board broke at 40K
