Reliable, Strong and Fast Car
The vehicle is very reliable and has a strong engine. Its ride is comfortable and controlled however it is not a sports car and should not be expected to handle like a Porche or a Corvette. Make sure you have the fire hazzard GM recall #99033 work done on your car to prevent a short that can melt a plastic fuel hose and cause and underhood fire. The Dealer will do this and all recalls free. There are two other recalls relating to the headlamps GM recall #99093 and a new recall that came out 9/04 GM recall #04052 all of the work is free just go to the Buick dealer with these recall numbers and make an appointment. They may have to order the parts but its free and important to these recalls.
Regal GS ... a great car!
My 1999 is my 3rd Regal. Am disappointed they are no longer being made. I've always gotten comments on the style and comfort from my friends also!
1999 Buick Regal
I purchased mine used at 12k miles, and its now at 70k. Stereo is amazing! It was my favorite car, but now "little" things are going wrong. Sometimes windows won't go down, the body control module went out - cost several hundred to fix, the ABS sensor went bad - cost another several hundred, had to have trim fixed around the windows, and now the interior display panels won't light up! I love the car, but I'm starting to get fed up!
My favorite car.
This is a great driving car. Car handles well in most driving and weather situations. Since Aug of 1999 I have driven nearly 80,000 miles. I have had no repairs other than normal wear. Both interior and exterior have held up well to the wear and the road conditions. In the winter they salt and sand the roads when it snows, no major damage has been the result.
Long Term Review of the Super "Sleeper"
I still love this car. My #2 son fights with me to drive it. Runs great, but of course, needs maintenance care as my car ages. As of this day, I have 130,000 miles on this car, 85% highway and 15% local (all local these past 3 years). At 80,000 miles the dash lights failed. I fitted interior LED dash lights. A $15 fix, cheaper than new interior light autodim controller. Transmission failed at 110,000 miles. Drive faded into neutral and stayed there. Replaced with new tranny. Replaced old, leaky engine manifold seals. Replaced worn-out front passenger wheel assembly. No wings, no lowering. I need to be incognito, and need pothole/snow clearance!
A lot of bang for the buck
I get so tired of Americans whining about American car quality. If you do not maintain a car properly, it won't last. The Buick Regal is a great car and I will definitely continue buying them.
No Hassle Car
I have owned this car six years. It has been a pleasure. It has plenty of power for highway driving. Merging onto freeways is never a problem. It rides well and gets great mileage on the freeway (30mpg - really). Mileage around town is 20-22mpg. Not bad for a nice size car.
