Superb Car!
After 115,000 miles in our '98 A4, we drove most of the available all-wheel options and chose the 2005 Audi A6. We have been extremely pleased. The car handles beautifully, as if its magnetically connected to the road. The acceleration is strong, yet we get decent mileage (low 20s). The interior is luxurious and very comfortable. MMI allows custom control over virtually every aspect of the car, yet is not so complicated that you feel intimidated. An excellent job!
remarkably fun and practical
This car is old. Do they make 'em like they used to?

I'm not sorry I bought it, but....
I like the performance and reliability of this car. Handling and responsiveness is excellent. The outside styling is fair, and believe it contributes to a reduced visibility/window view through the windshield, as it is now canted at a very aerodynamic/rakish angle. I would have preferred more glass at a more upright angle. The trunk is adequate but deep and overly narrow when comparing it to the BMW 500 series. The ride on the mandatory 17" wheels (4.2 engine) is a bit too stiff for my taste. I would have preferred regular 16" higher profile tires.
Audi A6 4.2 rocks
I watched the pictures & video as they appeared on the AudiUSA.com web site. I didn't think the car could look or drive anywhere near what they advertised... I was wrong. Once I saw the new A6, I new I needed to have it! I traded my '02 A6 4.2 for the '05 - Its faster, the interior is amazing, and it handles better than the '02, if you can believe it. The redesign finally puts cup holders where you need them, but they removed the carpeted door pockets, darn.
Buy anything else!
I bought an A6 CPO vehicle last May thinking that I was buying a premium vehicle and a premium dealer experience. Wrong on both accounts. In the first 6 months my car was at the dealer's service department for 30 days total with not much to show except more frustration and gray hair than I would have liked. The car drives and handles like a dream, however, the cacophony of squeaks, groans, creaks and rattles from the interior is enough to drive a sane man to insanity!
