2006 Lexus GS 300 Sedan 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Smoooth best describes the GS 300 AWD. Have owned a number of mid-sized sedans including BMW 5 series, and Audi A6 2.7t, the Lexus is considerably quieter with a smoother ride, but gives up a bit of ultimate handling if you like to shave a 10th of a second off your time turning into the local shopping center. On the highway, it's hard to beat with a natural (and potentially ticket collecting) cruising speed of 75 to 80 mph while returning 26 mpg. Overall, if you are not driving at 10/10ths all the time, it's a great compromise between ride and handling, not to mention Lexus reliability and build quality.

Best Features

The Mark Levinson sound system is in a class of it's own... it's subtle, but the more you listen, the better it sounds. The AM & FM tuner are superb. Also love the the keyless entry and start button... it's a "must have". The HID headlights that "steer" are great.

Worst Features

The nav & phone only allow you to access pre-programmed locations and numbers while moving. Otherwise you must stop, although you can cheat the phone by dialing from your cell, but the connection takes much longer. Overall, a little too much "Big Brother" for my taste, but nothing is perfect.

Review

My AWD GS 300 holds the road as though Elmer's glue was on my tires. The rear camera make parking a breeze. The nav system is a pleasure... but it is the driving experience that sets this car apart from all others.

Worst Features

Even with the rear view camera and the tilt side mirrors I have trou ble seeing all that is behind me as I reverse.

Review

I test drove most of the sedans priced between 45 and 50K. To me, the Lexus GS 300 drove the smoothest. I was impressed with its acceleration, fuel economy, ride and the responsive steering. My GS 300 is loaded. Something I did not plan on... but am totally satisfied with it.

Best Features

Audio, instrument cluster, lighting, six speed auto/shift trans., seating comfort and ride.

Worst Features

Make the front grills all the same design. The DC accessory outlet is in the bottom rear of the front center storage compartment. It is awkward to connect an accessory power cord and then close the cover.

2006 Lexus GS 300 Sedan 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 6A)

Review

This time, Lexus added more road feel and is sportier. But the same Lexus comfort and all the great technology of the LS 430 is very much present. Just handles better and it's a joy on the road.

Best Features

Bluetooth phone connection, Mark Levinson sound system

Worst Features

More room for rear seat passengers would be cool.
