What is the RX 350?
The 2024 Lexus RX 350 is a two-row midsize luxury SUV and one of the Japanese luxury automaker's most popular models. The RX is fresh off 2023's full redesign, with all-new styling inside and out, new in-car tech, improved driver aids and a new turbocharged powertrain. Despite its popularity, the RX was an aging model that was in need of some updates, and we're happy to say the changes were mostly successful. In addition to the RX 350, Lexus offers the RX 350h hybrid, RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid (or PHEV) and RX 500h performance hybrid. All are covered separately on Edmunds.
The RX 350 isn't the quickest or sportiest model in its segment, but it is one of the more comfortable ones, with a smooth ride and quiet cabin, though we'd steer clear of the stiff-riding F Sport model. The interior is an improvement, too, with an updated design and new in-car tech that ditches the cumbersome and distracting touchpad controller. We're also pleased by the power and punch of the 275-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic. Because of all the recent changes, we don't expect Lexus to make any major updates for 2024.
There is plenty of competition to keep the RX on its toes as nearly every luxury automaker offers one or more vehicles in this class. Some of Edmunds' favorites include the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5, though those are all a bit more expensive than the Lexus. If you like the Lexus but don't need as much space, check out the recently updated Lexus NX compact SUV.
