Yes, Cup holders are important!
Written by: marshella on Jul 1, 2004 8:04:16 AM
Can anyone tell me whether the new Malibu and the Malibu Maxx have cup holders to the left of the steering wheel like on the previous Malibus? Believe it or not, it was a prime consideration factor for our family car purchase. We had a 2000, and now own a 2002 Malibu. I'm keenly interested in the new Malibu or Maxx for our next family car and would be extremely disappointed ... Read More

Im not really sure what you're talking about, although it seems you are comparing the Consumer Reports figure for city fuel economy of the Prius Hybrid and the Malibu highway experience of some people here. Additionally, it sure seems there are a lot of band wagoneers here who cant present facts to back up their anti-hybrid assertions. Lucky for me, I can: Here are the numbers FROM Consumer Reports: Toyota Prius ... Read More

What Malibu should have looked like
Written by: hunt0694 on Feb 3, 2004 2:00:13 PM
I saw the new Cobalt at the Phila Auto Show yesterday, and this is what the new Malibu should have looked like. The Cobalt doesn't look cheap and has a beautiful facia (except for the bow tie). I like the look of the four door, especially the rear. Price will be from $16,000 to around $25,000. Unfortunately, it has the same ugly bow tie on the front--just like all chevy products. ... Noise in front left wheel

2004 Malibu company car
Written by: newhydebob on Oct 12, 2003 8:11:04 AM
Hi all, I recently acquired a 2004 Malibu as my new company car, replacing a 2000 Ford Taurus with the Duratech. The new Malibu is a base model with the 1SF equipment group, available to fleets only. This package adds the V-6, 16inch wheels, cruise, ABS/Traction, custom cloth, and interestingly, 4 wheel discs. With this group, it is equipped like the LS. I must say, the car is superb, with great ... Read More

(giggle) I figure I will probably end up at the Mazda or Subaru owners party, but the old 2000 Chevy Impala LS just crossed the 135,000 mile threshold yesterday. What with trips to Branson and Orlando coming up in just the next two months, I sure wish the wagon/hatches I am interested in would come out soon. (Mazda, Subaru, perhaps Malibu) I could also end up taking a Ford 500 detour, ... Read More

...here's my $.02. Reg...a Packer/Viking color schemed 'Bu would probably sell better than you think! Although given the intensity of that rivalry in recent years it might incite road rage incidents. It would be one way to introduce some needed color contrast to the Malibu's interior! I think everyone has said their peace (or is it 'piece') about the Midwesterner thing. I agree the body style has somethign to do with it but to be honest, people who buy in this segment aren't necessarily looking for cutting edge styling. Remember the Honda Accord was the best seller in 2001 when that model was 4 years old and still sold over 400k units as a five year old model. I do think it has to do with marketing and reliability. The malibu has ... Read More

It is bigger then the Malibu, of course, and drives very nice. It had a very soft ride , but not at all floaty. The feature content was actually about the same as my bu, except my ... Read More

Malibu Rotors on My 2000; Windshields

I believe if you do a search of this Malibu topic, you will find that Malibu front brakes and rotors have been an issue that's been discussed previously. Some model years are more prone to it ... I own a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS approaching the 59,000 mile threshold. Does anyone have any suggestions for long lasting wet traction tires. I have to contend with the "florida ice" so I was thinking Aquatread 80,000 mi., but they are pricey. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it.

I have a 2002 Malibu I purchased Oct 01. In almost all respects I like the car quite a bit. However, during the colder months, my fan started vibrating so badly I couldn't run it above the #2 position without seriously shaking the console. Also, practically no air flow from the vents. When I took it to the dealer, they took a look, called me, and said the warranty didn't cover ... Read More

Lotsa places to put cups & toys. Smoooth ride. The biggest thing is knowing that a V6 should last longer than a V4... so with a 2000 model, I should be set for awhile. I hope. RE: 2000 Malibu vs. 1997 Honda Accord
Written by: dtownfb on Sep 17, 2001 10:51:20 AM
Personally, I would buy the Chevy Malibu. Here are my reasons: 1) less miles on the Malibu and better warranty. 2) You will be hit with a huge bill for the Accord in exactly 12,272 miles. The timing belt of your Accord needs to be replaced at 90,000 miles. That will run oyu at least $300, $500 if you replace the water pump (which you should). 3) 1997 is the last ... Read More

After you have the engine serviced on that car, be very careful to check the coolant level, and keep an eye on the oil too. I had the pistons changed out in my 2000 Malibu in March. There are two explanations of what happened next 1) My thoughts...they didn't put it back together right, and the head gasket was compromised. My 2000 Malibu is due to have the pistons and seals replaced as a result of the "piston slap" problem.
