NEW YORK — Rockstar Games has released the official trailer for its upcoming video game title Grand Theft Auto V.
The trailer has generated more than 1.7 million YouTube views in just one day. It was released on Thursday.
The latest installment in the open world, action-adventure video game allows players to control one of three characters. Gamers will have to swap between them and exploit their unique strengths during missions to successfully advance. This official trailer shows that there is some serious backstory to each of the heroes' lives.
The three characters are Michael, Franklin and Trevor. Michael, an East Coast bank robber, is retired, while Franklin is an active street hustler looking for a quick buck. Trevor is the wild card in the bunch and is a violent maniac driven by his search for the next big high or score. Teaming up for GTA V, the crew looks to set themselves up for life through a series of dangerous heists.
Outside of heists and carjacking, Grand Theft Auto V will feature a variety of other new gameplay aspects. Scuba diving, golf, BASE jumping and the option to purchase a car legally are all on the table for this title that is guaranteed to have a splashy debut.
Grand Theft Auto V will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.
Edmunds says: Gamers everywhere wish they could wake up tomorrow and have it be September 17.
