2015 Volkswagen Jetta Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta sedan earned the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

VW's 2015 Jetta received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The top rating also applies to the 2015 Jetta Hybrid model.

The Jetta arrives at U.S. Volkswagen dealerships in late September.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2014 Jetta a "good" rating, but has not yet rated the 2015 Jetta.

Standard safety equipment on the Jetta includes six airbags, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. New optional safety features include a blind-spot monitor, plus rear traffic alert and forward collision warning.

Key competitors to the Jetta include the Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers will note that the 2015 Honda Civic sedan and Hyundai Elantra also earned the top five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze has not been rated.
