IRVINE, California — A teaser image of the redesigned 2014 Nissan Rogue has been released ahead of the compact crossover's official debut in September.

A one-sentence statement accompanying a closely cropped image of a single headlamp said: "The all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue will push the envelope of CUV design starting on September 10."

Dan Bedore, a Nissan spokesman, said the Rogue will be unveiled on that date and go on sale later this year.

The 2013 Rogue, which is priced from $21,170, including an $860 destination charge, competes in the same segment as the Honda CR-V, the Toyota RAV4 and the Hyundai Tucson.

Rogue sales through July were up 13 percent from a year ago.

Edmunds says: The current Rogue is considered to be one of the most stylish vehicles in its class, so it will be interesting to watch how Nissan plans to kick that up a notch.
