2014 Ford Edge Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2014 Ford Edge has earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Edge received three stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Five stars is the highest rating.

The 2014 Edge received "good" ratings in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, including the moderate overlap front crash test. The forces in the test are similar to those that would result from a frontal offset crash between two vehicles of the same weight, each going just under 40 mph.

Standard safety equipment on the Edge includes six airbags, antilock brakes and stability control. A Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert is optional.

The Edge competes with the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda Crosstour and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, among others.
