TORRANCE, California — The 2014 Acura RDX starts at $35,415, including an $895 destination charge, reflecting a $200 price increase over the outgoing model. The 2014 RDX is on sale now.

The midlevel 2014 Acura RDX with Technology Package starts at $39,115, including shipping, while the top-of-the-line 2014 Acura RDX with AWD and Technology Package starts at $40,515, including shipping.

An all-wheel-drive system for the 2014 Acura RDX is a $1,400 option.

The 2013 RDX was extensively redesigned and the base price of the '13 model started at $35,215, including an $895 destination charge.

The 2014 Acura RDX has a lower base price than two of its chief rivals, the 2013 Cadillac SRX and the 2013 BMW X3. General Motors and BMW have not announced 2014 pricing for the X3 or the SRX, however.

The base 2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i starts at $39,745, including an $895 destination charge. The base 2013 Cadillac SRX starts at $38,225, including an $895 destination charge.

Last year's RDX redesign brought a new engine, transmission and all-wheel-drive system. The 2014 RDX features a 273-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and six-speed automatic transmission. New for 2014 is Kona Coffee exterior paint.

Edmunds says: A modest price increase on the 2014 Acura RDX, despite ongoing strong demand for the redesigned version of Acura's smallest crossover.
