COSTA MESA, California — The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid starts at $26,445, including a $795 destination charge, reflecting a $180 price decrease over the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

A new top-of-the-line 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited starts at $31,345, including shipping.

The base 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid started at $26,625, including a $775 destination charge.

Hyundai's base-level 2013 Sonata Hybrid undercuts two of its chief rivals, the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid.

The 2013 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid starts at $27,995, including a $795 destination charge, making it $1,550 more expensive than the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

The 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE starts at $26,935, including a $795 destination charge. It is $490 more expensive than the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

A larger capacity 10.5kW Hybrid Starter Generator, a higher output 35kW electric motor and a more powerful 47kW lithium-polymer battery pack come with the 2013 Sonata Hybrid. Hyundai said the battery pack weighs less and take up less volume in the trunk.

The body of the Sonata Hybrid remains unchanged.

The 2013 Sonata Hybrid Limited adds such amenities as 17-inch Eco-spoke alloy wheels, leather seating surfaces, heated rear seats, a navigation system and Infinity premium speakers.

A panoramic sunroof package is a $1,000 option on the 2013 Sonata Hybrid.

Edmunds says: Hybrid buyers willing to spend a little more money can opt for a fancier Sonata Hybrid for the 2013 model year.
