I'm in love...
Got my Passat 4 weeks ago and already have put 2000 miles on it. I took the following options: Monsoon, Leather and Luxury pakages. Really a great car to drive. Two thirds of my driving is done on Expressways at an average of 85 MPH (140 Kmh here, in Canada). Even if performance are good, I'm now looking to have it chip tuned to improve highway performance. Very powerful in first 3 gears. Good thing the Anti-Slip is standard! In conclusion, this car is really worth a serious test drive.
Awesome Car
Very well built and thought-after vehichle. Everything is were you would expect it and works with the quality you expect. Performance is excellent and fuel economy is incredible. The Passat could easily become a performance sedan with some serious tires and rims.

Too Many Problems
I recently got a call from my dealer saying that I had a couple of problems with my 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLS 1.8T. First, the vacuum line needs to be replaced at a cost of $178. Also, the car needs to be decarbonated at a cost of $198. Third, the brake pads and rotors need to be replaced - cost $440. Is this a joke? The only mistake I made was to buy this terrible car. I have already had a number of problems with it before this, including the ignition coils failing making it undrivable, a number of electrical issues, I have to replace bulbs twice a year. bad quality tires that are easliy damaged, and bad wiper blades that don't work well in snow / rain.
I Expected More
I moved from an Acura 3.0 CL to a 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLS 1.8T and at first thought they were pretty comparable. That lasted less than a year. There have been numerous problems. The coils as everyone knows, headlights, trunk release, and most importantly the oil pump. There is a major flaw in this engine in that the turbo works way too hard to power this vehicle. That coupled with a very small oil pan causes the oil to super heat. I am on my third oil pump in 45,000 miles. At this point I would not consider another VW. Luckily, my lease runs out in two months.
Great car (except for the mileage)
Really like my new GLX 4Motion but the MPG is a shock after getting 28+ in my Saturn SC2.
