18,000 mile update - mileage is better than advertised. Anywhere from 56 - 60 miles per gallon on an 1,800 round trip to north Georgia and back. I am becoming to addicted to the blind spot monitoring and the back up camera. All previous first impressions are holding. This is our 3rd new Prius. First was bought in 2005 and major concern was would it start sitting outside in cold weather. Would the battery work and last? Local dealers hadn't seen a hybrid car when we had the oil changed locally. Bought a 2010 Prius II. 110,000 miles later all we change are tires and oil. With every generation they have gotten better. We finally stepped up to the 2016 Prius IV because we wanted the blind spot indicator. The cabin and ride are all improved. The headlights are better than the 2010 which were better than the 2005. There are many great cars available today, but the cost per mile to purchase and drive keeps bringing us back to the Prius. 27,000 mike update - still enjoy the vehicle. We did experience a rattle in the back seat area when driving at slow speed - very irritating. I took it to the dealership and they mentioned they did have a notice stating the nuts on top of the struts may work loose and rattle. Two hours later I was on my way - no rattle and no charge. Still very satisfied. Update September 25, 2019 - still enjoy the 2016 Prius. We’ve also added a 2018 Prius Prime. I was a bit skeptical of paying the extra for the plug in feature, giving us all electric miles, until moving seamlessly to the traditional hybrid engine. As a Realtor, I do much of my driving around town. I get approximately 30 miles in town on a single charge. A quick car with the electric option since you are full power while all electric. As grandparents, we head out of town, and get approx. 21 miles on the interstate(75 mph) before the hybrid engine takes over. All the safety features take some getting used too, I now signal when changing lanes on the interstate. Our car insurance is less for our 2018 Prime than for our 2016 Prius, a testament to the safety features- auto braking, lane drift alert. Plugging the car into a standard 110 outlet when I get home takes seconds, while the overhead garage door is closing. Still love both current Toyota Prius vehicles!

Best Car I've ever owned

This is my second Prius. The first one was a 2006 model 2. It was a great car and I sold it with 137,000 miles. The 2016 model is so much better in every way: handling, technology, 20% better fuel economy, comfort. I especially like the self parking, the intelligent cruise control, and the lane warning system. I recommend this vehicle highly.

It's a reliable car with great gas mileage. The car is much better insulated so you don't hear too much of the outside noise. For the basic it has everything I would need.

I have owned the car now for 8 years and I am still happy with it. It has required very little maintenance - had to replace the small battery once. On my most recent read, getting 50+ mpg. Prior to this car, I had always driven a hatchback because I prefer the cargo functionality. The Cargo space in the 2016 Prius is adequate but not as good as my old Honda Fit due to the low angle in the back of the car (and obviously does not have the "magic seats" of the Fit). What I am most impressed by is the smooth and relatively quiet ride of the Prius. I find the performance and handling to be quite good. Obviously, it does not have the same pick-up power, but they provide a button to give you extra power. Problem with that is that it needs to be more easily accessible - like on the steering wheel. Who is going to remember where the powerboost button is in the moment of need?! The controls and buttons are confusing and not intuitive, but with time and patience you can figure it out. Unfortunately, the way the controls are designed makes for distracted driving. The control panel may look sleek, but you have to look down at them too much in order to operate them. What I wish was different: As with virtually all cars - the headrest that pushes your head forward and the bucket seats are AWFUL for your posture and comfort. Just the same, this car is very comfortable. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and glad to be doing my part to reduce fossil fuel consumption.
