Rock solid reliability

I was a bit concerned with the added complication of hybrid technology. But historically the Prius has been one of most reliable cars on the road. I've never see mention of battery pack failure and they seem to last far beyond their guaranteed life span. I enjoy driving the car. The steering wheel is a bit of a reach even with the telescoping column. I cannot get the seats situated where I can spend an extended time driving. I'm 6'1" but because of the steeply raked windshield I have to position the seatback rearward before I can comfortably see under the top edge of the windshield. The pressure on my tailbone quickly becomes uncomfortable. I'd still buy a Prius again, though.

Good car, very comfortable for someone who is average build and 5'8". Interior materials are chintzy, but well laid-out. I have had the car a little over six months now, and have had only normal maintenance. The one nagging thing with this car is the right air vent near the passenger door. It refuses to stay locked in place, after having been replaced. I have learned to live with it, as it doesn't pop off, but does not fit flush with the rest of the dash. The Entune stuff is not that useful, as the few apps on my phone are far better. The bluetooth connection with my tracfone is flawless. I love getting an average of 46mpg in winter mixed highway/city driving. The USB and power ports work, but are very oddly placed in the center console and under the 'hump' between the seats in the front. The road noise is acceptable, but a bit on the loud side. I know part of this is due to our not-so-great roads. I am now a bit over a year in owning the car, and still getting ~46mpg average. The right air vent problem I have had is gone now, as a friend of mine found the proper tool to pop it in and out with for the cabin air replacement, and it has stayed in place since. I am not sure why the selling dealer doesn't have the tool. Life has been boring with this car, as there is nothing to do but regular maintenance, and washes... my kind of car!

My Prius 5 gets 5 stars

I sold my 2008 Prius trim level 6 after buying this for a good price. Both are top of the line models. The 2012 has softex interior, which is synthetic leather. Very comfortable, and with seat heaters it really is a plus in chilly weather. It also has the advanced tech package which includes lane keeping assist, heads up display, and adaptive cruise control. I don't have complaints about the noise in my car unless it is exceeding 70 mph and then it gets a bit louder. Soundproofing a vehicle costs extra money and weight, which costs gas mileage. Go for a Lexus if you want a quieter ride. With about 84k miles I have had no mechanical issues. The headlights on this model are led and are much better than the led lights on my 2008. The tires are 17 inch and are more expensive than the base 15 inch tires on my wifes 2014 trim level 3. Her car has a softer and quieter ride due to the excellent continental true contact tour tires we recently put on. But overall, I still prefer my 5 to her 3 model. The 2014 also gets about 2-3 better mpg than my 2012. I get around 42-43 mpg in town and 48 or so on the highway going 67 mph. My model is very rare but I'd recommend trying to get it if you can.

very reliable comfortable car with great headroom (no sunroof) Great for buzzing around town. On the road have to turn up the radio to drown out all the road noise.

recently purchased it at 0% special. Already saved tons of money. Used to get $400 worth of gas a month on my 4runner. Now I pay no more than $50 a month. It's fun to drive. MPG gets better and better. Battery charges when you apply breaks. Interior looks very nice. High tech functions. It has a built in phone. It uses Bluetooth. I keep my phone in my pocket just use the car. No more keys. Keys are for old school cars. I bought it a grossinger in downtown Chicago. Purchase was quick and simple. I priced the car from the dealer over texting. I got there straight to finance and done. 0%.
