great suv
i have had my highlander for 1 month now,i just love it . great suv
Nice to look at, boring to drive
The quality of the vehicle itself is excellent, but the Toyota side step bars have rusted and been replaced 2 times already. Beware of dealerships trying to sell you 'extra' services also. During servicing (20k miles) it was 'recommended' that coolant be flushed(insisting it was not 'long- life' coolant), perform a brake service AND balance. I declined all of these services and for good reason - I will contact Toyota to express my concerns that a $60 service would have topped $300 after taxes. So why buy a Toyota for reliablity and longetivity if you are paying the cost? Consider Honda if you wish to have the complete 'Japanese' experience.

REPALCE THE LEX
THIS IS MY FIRST HIGHLANDER, WHICH IS REPLACING MY RX300. LOOKED AT FORD, CHEVY AND CHRYSLER, AND WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE VEHICLES FOR THE MONEY THEY WANTED. THE HIGHLANDER IS VERY COMPERABLE TO MY RX IN MANY WAYS EXCEPT PRICE! 10 GRAN LESS!! THE LEX IS QUIETER AND A SOFTER RIDE, BUT FOR 10 THOUSAND MORE? THE HIGHLANDER WAS A GOOD COMPREMISE.
great car
excellent drive and handling. one design flaw is high pithced noise the moon roof makes when open which is alleviated when the front passenger windows are slightly opened.
Touch Of Class
Saddens me that USA won't build something of this caliber. Has all the personality of a perfect gentleman. Refined, reserved, full of class but never snooty, this is as near a perfect vehicle as I have ever seen. Bland? Boring? Never! Want exitement? Buy a Pontiac. If you want the Ultimate Family Machine, the HL is for you. 10 years from now it will still have its dignity, which is more than can be said for the competition.
