Comfy commuter where everything makes sense
I had an old 2004 Camry which I LOVED, but with high mileage (nearing 300k) I got tired of the time and money for the little repairs. I like the Crown just as well, which has never happened with any other car. The hybrid system is extremely smooth; you can barely feel the engine or motors kick on or off. It seems to select the most logical mix of power based on the current situation. You can drive a surprisingly long distance on city streets without the gas engine. At reasonable speeds on the highway, it's common to rev extremely low, even without the electric motors: think 1000-1600, depending on the situation. Fuel economy is something else. I expected 40 based on the government numbers, but I'm getting 48.5. Most of that is highway driving. Yes, I'm a slow driver. I only break 80 to pass and it even feels composed at 90. I generally drive 55-65. The fuel tank empties so slowly. When it comes to speed, the car is surprisingly good. The electric motors really pull. You can pass and accelerate quickly with ease. I've never been over 5000 rpm, so I don't know what it's like up there. There is a mildly irritating rattly noise around 3000 rpm and the engine's loud at anything over that. It's very quiet when driven calmly. I thought I'd despise the CVT, but it apparently doesn't even qualify as one, being some kind of unique continuous transmission. It doesn't feel rubber-bandy or slow to respond at all. The ride comfort is exceptional. I'm extremely susceptible to carsickness, even when I'm driving. I haven't felt even the slightest bit queasy in the Crown. It doesn't ride like a bouncy castle or rock and roll like a large, overly soft SUV. However, compared to a sporty car, the cornering isn't effortless. You can feel its weight, but it's very comfortable when driven slowly around significant turns. The interior is very cozy and has an upscale, semi-luxury vibe. There's not much to say other than everything makes sense, PLUS comfy and classy design elements. Bronze-colored trim flows through the cabin and ties it together. The stitching on the leather seats is gorgeous. Everything pretty much works perfectly and as expected. There are really no surprises... except for how nice it is. You should expect that for the high price, though. I've had people ask what the car is. It makes me feel nice to have something special that'll remain notable in the future. I would recommend the Crown with almost no reservations. If you like to drive fast, something else would be better. You get maximum comfort out of this car driving like a grandpa; it's so cozy that you don't even want to drive faster.

Not your Grandma's Avalon!
1000 mile review on our 2025 Crown Limited in Oxygen White. We purchased this gem three weeks ago and as is evident by the mileage, it is a winner! Smooth riding, quiet running, and so very comfortable. Love the air conditioned power 8 way driver's and passenger seats, and plenty of leg room for our 5'10" and 6'2 in bodies. We drove the new 2025 Camry in se, xse, xle all wheel and rear wheel drive versions, the Lexus Es 300h, the VW ID4, Hyundai Iconic 5. Looked at an Lexus NX hybrid but didn't drive one as our heads were too close to the headliner even though the seats were as far down as possible. The Crown was the most roomy, quiet, and pleasant to drive plus fabulous gas mileage at 40mpg. We removed a few features such as lane change assist, and the warning to check your back seat every time you get out of the car, plus the warning light if you are exceeding 1 mph over the speed limit, and a couple of other features that are more annoying than useful but overall we are so happy with this vehicle. Plus, lovevthe sporty, unique style, and higher riding height on the road. If you need to spice things up just put it in sports mode. But plenty of power in ecomand normal modes. Not your Grandma's Avalon for sure!

Nothing else like it
I purchased my Crown Platinum in January and now have almost 4K miles on it and couldn't be happier. Besides the distinctive coupe-like silhouette, my favorite feature is the engine/transmission, acceleration is smooth and effortless. The interior is quiet, though there is some minor wind noise above 80 mph and in strong crosswinds. It has 5 driver's mode settings that can adjust the steering, transmission and suspension. While not a sports sedan, in the "sport" setting it corners smoothly and rides relatively firmly though not harshly despite having 21" wheels, which is my preference. The brakes work fine with a linear response but the pedal is soft, I'd prefer a firmer touch. The seats are extremely comfortable, well padded with good lateral bolsters to keep you in place and are also automatically heated and ventilated. Climate control uses real switches which is a plus. The center screen is large and I find that I prefer the native Nav system over Google maps from my phone. After the free trial ends, I'll have to decide if the subscription price is worth it or not. One good thing is even if my phone is connected, I can still listen to SiriusXM via the car satellite where it sounds better than from my phone app. Speaking of sound, I've read a few mediocre reviews regarding the JBL system but I've found it to be quite good with nice clear highs and decent bass. Certainly better than the Bose systems in my last 3 vehicles. The dashboard screen has 3 separate displays which can be customized for looks and information provided. However, the personalization process is less than intuitive. I found a helpful YouTube video to assist the set-up but if I want to adjust things in the future I'll probably have to review it again. There are numerous safety features and I especially like the birds eye camera view for parking. One that is very annoying though was the driver attention monitor. It would go off whenever I touched the center screen and sometimes when I was only looking at it. Thankfully, it's easy to turn off this function. The trunk is deep but relatively shallow, which makes sense given the coupe-like shape of the Crown. It was nice to find a spare tire included which seems to be a rarity nowadays. With a mixture of city and highway driving, including a couple of road trips, I'm getting 27-31 mpg on a tank of regular gas. All in all in very please with my Crown Platinum.

Nice but confining interior
I just test drove the 2025 Crown, Platinum trim. Fully equipped, beautiful ride. But, I'm a 5'6" woman. In order for the car to see my face and me to see the head up display, I had to adjust the seat as high as it would go. And then I had to remain absolutely erect in my seat. Positioning meant the frame where the windshield meets the roof was claustrophobic-ly close to my head. Deal breaker.
Unique Luxury in a Interesting Package
I just bought a brand new Toyota Crown Platinum for $51,800. It’s the best car I have ever owned. It’s like driving a Lexus for the price of a Toyota UPDATE: I wanted a top of a line Camry XE with tech package but it wasn’t available. Almost instead bought top of the line Subaru Outback at about $44K. Crown looked fascinating but top of the line at $56K was out of my price range. Then dealership offered me a new Platinum for like $51K. It seemed like a no brainer to choose this Crown for like $6K more than the Outback. Best car decision I have ever made. Yes the 29MPG for this more powerful model initially concerned me the power baby is well worth the mpg sacrifice. The car is comfortable and loaded with tech features. Well built and fun to drive. I read the reviews from Haters and frankly the Haters are dead wrong on this.
