104K mi and still a beast

This car is simply the best. It is a zero frills, going to get you to your destination every time vehicle. I have put 104K on it myself, purchased new in 2007. I have done regular-ish service, going about 7500 between oil changes. I used to drive aggressively, but after calming down I now get 37-42 on the highway. I hit 45mpg once.... I never get under 30mpg, ever. The only downside I can think of is that I will not be in the market for a new car in a long time. I reasonably expect to hit 200K and I no longer have a commute to work. (<1mi). Also, I have no ABS and I now live in the northeast. This hasn't been a problem yet. I've made it through very heavy snowstorms.

I bought my Corolla S brand new in '07. It is 04-2011 now. I put 99.7% of the 65,000 miles on it myself. I have only done routine maintenance to date. Brakes and tires at 59,995 miles, Synth Oil changes every 7,500 miles, engine air filters every 15,000 miles, and cab filters every 30,000 miles. I'm planning on replacing belts and plugs at 75,000. It delivers 28 mpg in the city, and 38-42 on the highway depending on how fast I drive. I have had NO problems. None. This isn't a luxury car. It isn't a sports car. It isn't a tiny car. What it is, is a good, dependable small-car with a low cost of operation Everything works like it did when I drove it off the lot brand new.

Good value for the money

2007 Toyota Corolla LE 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Positives: Classic and classy exterior. Quiet and comfortable interior. This car is peppy on the start, smooth on the braking. Excellent fit and finish. Turns corners very easily and quickly. Excellent gas mileage. Short enough to parallel park in city. Negatives: cheap plastic storage slots under radio waste space; drink holders awkward to use, spill onto seats, should be under radio; radio control too complex, too many FM buttons; rear headrests block driver's view; antenna easy to steal, should power retract; needs flat surface for food/small objects in lieu of bulky container under armrest; driver-side piller creates blind spot. For $15,363 a very good value.

I have owned this car for the past 10 years, and it still drives like it's new. The MPG is great, (around 38), which is great since I don't want to go to the gas station every single day. I have made a couple modifications, such as replacing the headlights, (which I needed to aim upwards, not Toyota's fault since they're aftermarket.) There is some road noise, but I don't really mind since it's not that loud, the radio is fine, but I took off my antenna since it ruined the look of the car, and the radio works just fine without it anyways. This car is very reliable to drive, and I'm not worried about it breaking down. Something funny is that I've been using the same battery for the past 10 years, and I think that now is probably the time to replace it. Storage space is excellent considering the size of the car. I would highly recommend waxing the car at least once every year to protect the paint. However, I had to paint a couple places on the car myself, so I will need the car professionally painted. Other than that, I can't really think of much else to say here, other than if you're looking for a car to drive on the daily, this is the one.

Thought I would buy a Honda Civic but dealers were not anxious to negotiate price- Toyota dealers were able and willing to hammer out the best price and I suggest working 3 dealers against each other. First full tank of gas produced 32MPG which is great- Speaker system (6 speakers) is incredible. Great price- Great value
