Used 1998 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
great car
i am a very high-mileage driver. in the 8 months i've had my corolla, i've put 15000 miles on it. the ride is smooth, the engine is quiet, and the engine can give a little extra when you need it.
Solid, reliable car with no frills
Have had my Corolla CE with 5-Speed manual transmission for past 8 years (73k miles). Runs same as when new. It's a small car that isn't great on the highway due to the weight and powerplant (and additional passengers and/or having the AC on will bog it down somewhat), but it was cheap, reliable, and gets over 30 MPG city. I have had no mechanical problems - just change the oil, etc. Haven't even changed a light bulb. Overall a great value and I plan on driving it at least another few years.
The energizer bunny
This car is awesome I have just under 270,000 miles, use it everyday like a taxi, going from client to client mixed city and expressway driving, only repair has been struts cv joints and rack and pinion unit. Original alternator, starter, ignition and exhaust. ac tranny never repaired, inside cheap materials make the car look abused,but as far as driving it it's still almost as good as new
Great car!
We purchased this car new in '98 and besides regular maint. and a $1 muffler repair (no joking, a bolt came loose) this car has been problem free. Not bad for over a car with more than 100K miles. The ride is comfortable and handling in the winter is much better than I expected. I also like the fact there are *no* rattles or squeeks. I don't think you can do better for a inexpensive small car.
Toyota = Reliability
I've owned several (4) toyotas now, and this car is by far the best one of the lot. The others were trucks, and performed well for me, but I've been impressed with the Corolla. I used to do quite a bit of driving (for a long distance relationship) and have put almost 105,000 miles on my car, and its still running every bit as good today as it did when I first purchased it. I've changed the oil regularly, and with the 6-disc CD changer, 15 inch alloy rims, and automatic tranny, I've put off plans to purchase a new car in favor of driving this one well into the 175,000 range.
