Used 1998 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
Not as fun as I thought
This car is not too bad. It bottoms out in the rear all the time. The shocks should be better than the one's it came with. Had a problem with the seatbelt sensor and my front lightbulbs wear out quickly.
Great Buy
I am not one that takes very good care of their vehicle and performs the minimum maintenance. I have treated my Corolla poorly and it has always performed great and has been as dependable as can be. I have had not one single problem with my Corolla and I have wrecked it and ran over parking blocks by accident and do not rotate my tires or anything. I take it in for an oil change about every 6000-7000 miles and other than brakes and tires I have spent no more money on it.
Good Car for the price
I bought This car about three weeks ago So far its great, Excellent Fuel Economy. Concerned about paint thats chipped less than a 1/4 inch on the center of the door, Other wise the car is great. I've Changed the stock streo to a new sony in-dash cd player and sounds great with the stock speakers. I would recommend this viechle to anyone in any age range.
Corolla=RELIABLE
Bought this car brand new in 1998. First year it was incredibly smooth and quiet. Very surprising performance for a small car. Ours has the 5 speed, so mileage is GREAT. Recently (2005) I drove 412 miles on 10.67 gallons of gas. That is 38 MPG! This was not all interstate miles either. It was mixed, city and highway miles. That was pretty impressive considering the car just passed 138,000 miles. The AC is great, and so is the heat. The channel preset buttons on the radio are all falling off, which stinks. The cup holder in the rear seat was placed in a bad spot. The cloth seats are adequate and are durable. The interior panels are resistant to temp extremes (no cracking so far). Great car.
168,000 and still strong
We bought this car new. My wife had it, then my daughter and now it's my turn with 168,000 miles on it. Still rides like new but gas tank lever is broken, hood latch sticks, and it uses about 1 qt of oil every 1100 miles. It is about the most reliable car we have ever had other than our Toyota RAV4.
