If you are planning to buy a used car for a new driver or someone going off to college... this is the car for you. I bought this car from my next door neighbor in September and the car has had NO problems (knock on wood) and it never has. I bought it because they were selling it to me for an amazing price.. with 209000 miles on it. THE CAR RUNS AMAZINGLY! In snow.. rain.. ice.. it's perfect and I couldnt ask for a better car for 500 bucks! I'd pay 2000 for this car because it is so reliable!

My dad brought it for my first car at 15 y/o, it was wrote off so my dad and I spend our time together on fixing it. After I got my driver's license, I've been driving this car for 4 years now. I'm a daily driver and it never fail on me, will always take me where I want go, and very reliable as for my first car. Very comfy and easy to drive. No problems at all, runs like new still. Love my car and will never sell it!

This is the 2nd Camry (this body style) I've owned (got rid of 1st one- a '90, due to expensive valve job needed) since 2004 and let me tell you, I will literally keep it until it or I bite the dust! I LOVE the body style, both in & out, and with 193,000 miles, you'd never know it. Luckily, this baby has only highway miles. Someone really was meticulous about the maintenance and is from North Jersey. Anyway, I couldn't be happier with it and is a gas saver, not a guzzler! The interior looks brand new with no stains, rips, or holes in the cloth fabric. The mpg is terrific-28/35, I believe. NOT A THING wrong with her! I felt safe on the test-drive and smiled the whole time!

1991 Camry, my favorite car!

I got this car from my parents when I got my license. I grew up with it as well. But I'm sad I'll have to get a new car in a year since my parents think this car is getting old. They really don't make cars like these anymore. It is very reliable. The only thing fixed on this car since we had it was the Alternator, shocks, and muffler. This is a powerful car and the fact that it's a V6 is great. It runs very well even though it is older than me. It's extremely reliable and safe. I prefer it over my sister's new Camry. Fuel economy is ok, could be a little better but it doesn't guzzle your gas. If I could ask Toyota to make this car for me again, I would.

I bought this car 3 months ago at a used car dealership. I didnt really like the body style because of hail damage. But I liked that it had a v6 engine. And that it has good gas mileage. Plus it is really dependable. I recently bought new tires and a new exaust plus now buying a new starter. Other then that it gets me to point A to point B. Plus I am a college student so my insurance is really low. This car is a great car.

I bought this car with 165k on it and one week later took it on a non-stop 16h road trip. The following year I took another road trip(7hrs each way)with no problems either way.I also made about 5 trips(3.5hrs each way)in one summer with no problems.Has full power, cruise control, air conditioning.not bad for a '91.Basically,I've had this car for over a year, put 20k miles on it,and haven't put a penny into it mechanically. All I needed was new tires.Sure it's nothing pretty to look at and you aren't going to beat anyone off the line with it,but it's an awesome car to get you where you need to go and after all, that's what cars were built for.

I bought it for my daily commute car (100 mi a day), it has been excellent! The car now has over 318k, uses approx 1 qt oil between changes, gets 32-35 mpg as runs great!! Keep up with the maintenance & they'll last a long time. I'd buy a newer one if I had the money, it is a great car & EVERY one still works!! Only bad is they rust easy...it has a few places needing attention.

People don't know what a reliable car is unless they've owned a Toyota. We have put over 200k trouble free miles on it. I replaced the original exhaust 6 months ago. I consistently get over 35 mpg on the little four cylinder. It's a bit underpowered but the fuel economy is wonderful. I drive 20k miles per year, that's about 400 miles a week. I recently put a newer model toyota cd player that makes the drive even better! I love this car but with the rust, I figure I've only got a year or two left. Pity, since it still runs so well. Lovely car though - outstanding - perfect for college kids.

"old" Toyota quality

We bought our 1991 Camry from my in- laws in 1999 with 83,000 miles. Now at 250,000 miles, I can see why Toyota was dominant in the durability department with these cars. Recently our 4cyl. model on a 525 mile round trip got a record of 39.5pmg with only me in it, but used about 3/4 of a quart of oil. Living in the salt belt has taken a toll on its sheet metal, especially around the rear wheel wells. It does lack power but makes up for it in a smooth and reliable ride. After all of Toyota's recalls lately, I wonder if they will ever make a reliable car like this one again? If I was going newer, I may want to switch to a Honda next time. Toyota went too big too fast and its quality shows!

Bought the car three years ago and put 100,000 miles on it since. I beat on the car and have only had replaced the trany and minor maintenance parts. They're impossible to kill and they get good gas mileage. They're also better than any 4-wheel drive vehicle in the snow with the right tires. Also very smooth at highways speeds.

The V21 Chassis

This car is by far the most suprising car you will ever find. It's realiable, a ton of fun to drive, the V6 engine is absolutly superb with nearly a 1000RPMs of acceleration after MAX HP is reached giving you great acceleration in higher gears, the car's handling suprisingly good for a 4 door sedan, it's extrememly comfertable to sit in, the car really looks nice if you step back and look at it from the front, Increadably good in the snow, and just an all around great car. The V21 chassis that his car is built on is said to be the best Camry Chassis period and was the choice of chassis used by CHP for their prototype Police Intercepter. Just a wonderful car all around and great in the snow.

I bought this car 3 years ago with 100,000 miles and I have put 57,000 miles on it. I have gone to Florida (from michigan) New York and Chicago at least 6 times and drive it daily and have not had one, not one problem. I had to get a new exhaust and now I need new tires, but other then that nothing. It is truly amazing. I agree with others that I have driven this car hard and it just won't stop. Not much to look at and not fast at all, but will get you where you are going safe and sound. Runs great on the highway too. I keep test driving new cars and wind up saying, mine is as good as that. Highly recommended.

I recently sold this car (owned it about 2 years) due to noisy valves, but it was a pleasure to own and drive this car. It had tons of power and only very little maintenance was required, such as spark plugs, belts, brakes. Buyers, please change the oil when it's due. If not, the engine will be destroyed as mine was. (Noisy valve lifters). Keep oil changes up to date and check and maintain all fluid levels and it will last many, many years!

I bought this car for $2500 with 135,000 miles on it. I intended to use it twice a week to drive to a bad area and avoid using my new car (2001 Nissan Maxima). Due to the cost savings on gas and depreciation I started driving this Camry more then the Maxima and ended up selling the new Maxima. My Camry now has 157000, yes 22,000 in 8 months, and not a single problem. I do not think this car will ever die

this car is great, i bought it with 65,000 miles on it, and right now have it at about 95,000. i havent had any mechanical problems(toyota quality in action), i get about 25 mpg city, and 30 hwy. i drive fast, and reguardless of what people say about the 4 banger being slow, its not that bad, jsut really bad off the line, and on automatic trany, there is an ect button, which is what they place on the new celicas, basically its a built in performance chip. this car is also great in winter(goes better in snow then my dads f150 4x4), and makes a great first car or for somebody that commutes long distances.

I bought this car from a friend for $300. It had only 108,000 miles but it did need a little work. I drove it to my house, (about 15 miles) and noticed some grinding when turning corners. Priced drive axles from Napa, $75 each. First axle took 3hrs. to replace. I had to attach the axle to my truck and tug to get it removed from trans. Second axle took 45 min. Fairly easy repair. Next gave it a tune-up. This is a V6 engine, and the front three plugs are the easiest plugs I have ever replaced, the back three are the hardest. The back center plug was still the ORIGINAL plug, Next was exhaust, mid pipe, cat to muffler. This car is solid and gets 24 MPG. Under $700 invest. best car I've ever owned

Mileage Improved

I have a '90 and '91 Camry. I bought the former new and it has 242K miles and the latter I bought mine '96 with 96K miles in Calif. and now it has 250K. This summer my gas mileage actually improved on the '91; I got 36 mpg in highway driving when I never had better than 33. I've done the usual maintenance work and am conscientious about changing the oil. I've driven these cars in New Hampshire and now in Minnesota. Rust is starting to show on the '91 and it kills me to think rust and peripherals such as freezing locks and sagging seats will destroy the cars before the engine dies. I am writing to advise anyone living in the sunbelt to never hesitate to buy this Camry.

My uncle gave me a base model 1991 camry for my first car. And boy was it a great first car. it got me from point A to point B, It survived three separated car accidents, with body damage only. luckily my dad was able to fix the car every time. and it even had a name, Cameron. But sadly one day one my way to class my steering locked up while I was turning, and my engine shut off completely. and when I turned my engine back on, every time it would only run for a few minutes and shut off again. we got it towed to the mechanic and that was the last of my little camry. I cried like I had lost a person. but it was a wonderful year and a half, and I would recommend this car to anybody.

I bought this car a year and a half ago. Since then, I have put so much money into it trying to solve a very strange intermitting problem. This car will stall at stops for no apparent reason. It will then run very sluggish that day to the point where I have to ride my clutch very heavily to get it to go. The next day, or maybe even a couple of hours later, it will run perfectly fine...like there was nothing wrong with it. I have had this car in the shop every two weeks with this problem. None of the 3 mechanics (includes the dealer) can figure out what's wrong with it.

I needed a second car fast. I was gonna buy new, but then thought I mostly leave the car by the subway and go to work. So this Toyota Camry DX came along. It's not roomy inside, nor does it have great pick-up. Nothing inside the car is layed out for your convenience except the steering wheel and mirrors. It's not the best looking car inside or out. You may say it's fugly, however, it is FUN to drive. For a 12 yr old car it handles very well, I may say it rides like new and has a fair amount of trunk space and there are plenty of seat adjustements. If you can get past the retro late 80's early 90's styling, you'll enjoy it.

I bought this car with 194,000 miles on it back in Feb. and it ran BETTER than a new car. I let my friend drive it for a month, due to lack of driveway space, then stored it at my house. Maybe it sat too long (4 mos.) but started it every day until the battery AND fuel pump died on me. Another issue was a serious electrical problem with the left blinker flashing on and off when it wanted to! I sold it for $200 and was happy to be rid of this expensive-to-fix car! I will never buy the "90 or '91 models ever again. I might consider a '92-'96 body style models. But these are definitely overrated. I was very disappointed- thought they last until the 400,000 mile mark!

I sold it to my son for a "winter" car, he drove it 2 years and now I am buying it back for my 2nd car during summers. At 125,000 miles, found an intermittent oil leak that occurrs only when on long, fast highways. Can't find out where and what is causing it.Everything else, except the A/C still works great.Have an '02 Honda but this Camry proved itself to be far superior! Will keep it till it croaks!

I bought this car in June with 147,000 miles on it. Now it is November 10th and i have 160,500 miles. This car comes from Ohio, so there is a considerable amount of rust on it. I live in California. All I have done to it is add tires, brakes, and oil changes. This car is quiet, smooth, great milage, and it is just tough as hell. The only bad part is that I need a valve adjustment, and it has special types of valves, and I've been quoted between $180 and $600 to just have my valves adjusted. I am going to just have a new timing belt, coolant flush, and tranny service at the same time so my Camry will be good as new. I definitly recommend this car to all.

I've been driving this car since I bought it more than twelve years ago. Its been through so much I don't have the heart to let it go. I bought the LE model with power windows, locks and mirror along with a power moonroof. Its going to be passed down to my son. I'm a mechanic by trade so the car is in fine condition. In fact there is hardly any rust on this car. I've had to replace the Transmission but that was because my wife doesn't know how to accelerate smoothly and its had some minor engine work done.

We bought our 1991 Camry from our in-laws with 83,000 miles on it in 1999. Now its nearing 250,000 miles and it still runs/ drives great. The 4 cyl. isn't the quickest, especially with the A/C on, but its gets 33+ mpg highway regularly. No squeaks or rattles inside, the cloth seats are holding up extremely well, but the clincher for me is the auto- transmission is rock solid. If Toyota could have made the car bodies less prone to rust during these years, this probably would be one of the best cars we have ever owned. Period. If you only could put Toyota powertrains into Chevy car bodies? I can only hope

Got this car last summer, really love it. Performance was mediocre with the 4 cyl, but gas mileage was great (over 30 mpg hwy) All around a nice car, especially for a college student like myself. Drove it 1500 miles to school last semester without a problem, great on trips. Just be sure to keep on top of the oil. it all burned out within a few weeks into the semester and my engine choked up, the only reason I don't have it any more. Other than that, great car, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I'm sad to have to leave this car, but after 300,000 miles and no major problems, my parents have found it unfit for me to go to college with. It took me awhile to actually get over the retro exterior. But now that I have driven it for a couple of years, the style is probably its biggest flaw. This car is amazing! It is still running on stock items. The only thing that isn't is the clutch, which was only changed once! This car is perfect for first time drivers and/or if you just want a car to rack-up some miles. Because of the amount of miles, my parents are thinking of it as in long-term.

However this car has been super reliable and loyal. I'm depressed that it needs to be replaced but it's 20 years old and I beat the heck out of it the last 3 years. WHAT a disappointment! Starting from the test drive, I had this gut feeling something wasn't quite right. The test-ride was great and it drove like new! When the sales guy accompanied me (I hate when they go with you!!) stating that I had the vehicle out too long, a red flag came up. I still bought it, then I stored it at a friend's and was happy. The mileage was 194K at the time of purchase and right after I washed it at a car wash, the fuel pump died! Also, it had a major electrical problem (the left blinker wouldn't go out!!) and I couldn't afford to fix it. I will never buy the older model again! Only the '92-'96 models and this time will have it mechanically checked out thoroughly!!!!!

I bought this as my first car, and had nothing but problems. It has 86K when i bought it for $4k. Since then i've put 20k miles on it and $6k in repairs. I still can't get my tail lights to work, no matter how many people look at it, and my engine is slower the a horse and buggy. This car has problems.

Hi, I will avoid profanity........... Was my first car, parents forced me to buy it, I knew NOTHING about cars. EVERYONE said Camry is THE BEST, so I bought one. It tormented me, spent THOUSANDS repairing this car even with only 56,000 miles...... now, I am a Sedan fan, always LOVED Cressidas but I was young and parents said NO to a 6 cylinder. To make it short, it was stolen twice and crashed, parents forced me to drive it. So it wasn't just a very bland and baseline "people mover" it was bent back to legal regulations to drive since it had already ate most of my savings as a kid......... I drive a 1989 Toyota Cressida, most amazing car, it has it all, I even cringe at the sound of "Camry"

I've really have some problems with it. For one, this car is designed for small people, and at 6'1" 235, i don't fall into that category. The body roll is lugubirous and i've had a lot of problems with shorts in the electrical system. But the real kicker is the fact the auto transmission is horrible. First, it had a tendency to drop into 1st if i tried to accelerate too hard on the highway, redlining the engine and lowering my speed by about 10 mi/hr. Then, just recently, it's been randomly going into 3rd at about 10 mi/hr, leaving me stranded with no torque to speak of.

This is definelty the most reliable car that I have ever owned. It had high mileage on it when I bought. He had 70,000 miles. I've put radiators and breaks and things, but nevertheless is an excellent car in everyway.

I have had this car since it was new. The only parts that went bad on it were the clutch, and rear struts. I just replaced them last month. Sure the car isnt a preformance god, but it makes it up a hill, so it is all good to me. If you get it maintained at the dealership, then u should be just fine. Overall this is a GREAT car to have. My car has 218,700 miles and starts everyday and runs great with out burning oil.
