Used 2002 Toyota 4Runner SUV Consumer Reviews
Why did I buy a 4Runner?
My 4Runner has been more trouble than it is worth. Between faulty stereos (I'm up to three now), the paint peeling off the front bumper (which Toyota will not consider a factory defect), and the vibration problems, I am wondering if I just got a lemon or if Toyota's high ranking for quality is nothing but a bunch of hype. I can say that if I don't get these problems resolved soon that I will get rid of that albatross and get something more dependable and mechanically sound.
Great Vehicle
I purchased the 2002 4 Runner Sport with added leather interior, and all the bolt on exterior goodies for my high school son in new 2002. I drove it during his first year in college since he could not have a car on campus. I thought it was great; very honest vehicle. I have owned five Toyotas and this is the best for reliability. The vehicle now has 66,000 miles, never had anything wrong, not even a rattle. Just normal maintenance. The best news, he is purchasing a new car and he is giving the 4 Runner to me. I am sure he will miss it.

The only "true" SUV
This is my 2nd 4Runner and I still believe it is the best true SUV on the road. The reviews that say the ride is very "truck-like" are not rating my Runner. I have driven a number of SUV's on the road and can confirm that this is one of the best. I have never had a single problem with either of my Runner's and will remain a loyal Toyota customer based on my satisfaction.
Good value truck
I bought my 4Runner new with the sports package that includes running boards, hood scoop, bumper plate, etc. I have had no problems with it and it performs very good offroad. I highly recommend getting one with 4wd, which makes it much funner to drive.
Worth the extra $$$$
I went from a Grand Cherokee to a BMW 3 Series and then to the '02 4Runner Sport Edition. I had an 88 4Runner with the removable top.. (super cool truck) and now I am back to Toyota again. I test drove every SUV out there and while it may not be the best bargain up front, I am sure it will pay off in the long run. Check the prices on used 4Runners. They're almost as much used as they are new! I have yet to regret making this purchase. I bet you won't be either!
