2026 Tesla Model Y SUV Consumer Reviews

The Juniper AWD LR exceeded my expectations
I was on the fence with the Tesla Model Y Dual Motor Long Range for quite some time as I had concerns with the political situation with Elon Musk, however after researching and driving the Y’s competition, I kept coming back to the Tesla. Sure there are other models out there with more attractive styling and more comfortable interiors, there are brands with longer range, and there are brands with better warranties, however, when you look at the overall package, the Model Y Juniper is, not only a great value, but also provides a level of sophistication and technology that is unmatched by any other car in it’s price range. The car just works, and as a driver its controls quickly become intuitive, and the FSD provides stress free navigation, and is especially much appreciated driving in traffic, as well as on road trips. Is it perfect? No, but it is probably the best vehicle I have ever owned, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone that’s looking for a good, economical, everyday driver EV, and with the Tax Rebates, it is very competitively priced to boot.

Huge improvements over older Tesla models!
I have owned various Tesla models since 2014. Although not enough to turn me off completely, all of them gave me some level of disappointment with build quality (interior materials, seat design, cabin noise level, panel gap issues). However, after inspecting my new 2026 model for an hour before accepting delivery, I was unable to find a single issue anywhere!! After owning it for a bit, I continue to be impressed with the overall improvements in design and workmanship in all of the areas mentioned above, plus many more. Of course, the driver assist features are unwatched, including its Full Self Driving capability. Finally, as a recommendation for those evaluating EVs, avoid placing a priority on range and/or charging speed. Once you own an EV for a while, you will realize these criteria are pretty superfluous. You will find that you RARELY charge you car on the road, and Tesla’s Supercharger Network when combined with the vehicle’s navigation system, virtually removes all range anxiety.

Love my new 2026 Tesla
I really liked my 2022 Tesla model y, but I absolutely love my new 2026 Tesla model y juniper. The suspension is much better, it is quieter, I love the ventilated seats, more range, and is better looking. Another factor for me is that Tesla's are the most American made car in the U.S. GM and Ford make many, many of their cars in Mexico. With Tesla I get a great car while supporting America manufacturing.

Significant Upgrade, FSD still doesn’t work well
We purchased a 2026 Model Y AWD in June and promptly embarked on a 2200 mile road trip that we make every year (the last three in a model 3) to Oregon and Washington. This is our third Tesla, and after considering other brands, I realized that the others are still not quite ready for prime time road-tripping in terms of charging convenience—mapping software and charging network. We never had to wait even once to charge, even while traveling on 4th of July weekend. As for the car itself, the seats are incredibly comfortable and now ventilated, which came in handy in the 100+ degree weather we drove through. I’m 60 years old and never had any problems with back support or fatigue. The new suspension is really smooth, but still tuned for good cornering at high speeds in the mountains—great balance. Great visibility, too. My 6’ tall son rode in the back and had plenty of room; storage for three adults was more than enough. We transferred the FSD from my wife’s car to the new one, and I had high hopes for improved FSD performance! This has been the only let down. I enabled it when we left home on the central coast of California, but within 10 miles, I had to intervene at least three times. Through Bay Area traffic and driving on I5 northwest of Sacramento, FSD fumbled so many times I had to switch it off for the rest of the trip. There was no way I was going to trust it in the mountains. After trying hard to make FSD work for us in our older Model 3, we switched it off and never used it. I’ve read about supposed improvements—there are glowing reviews on YouTube—but like the old version, the new one does not inspire confidence. FSD aside, the new Model Y is a significant upgrade and easily the best car I’ve ever owned. If you need a medium-sized road-trip vehicle and want to go electric, you won’t find anything better! The car earns five stars, but the glitchy FSD knocks the overall experience back a bit.

Aside from being fast. It drives great and very comfortable. I love not having to buy gas.
