Love this new update!
I was gas all the way until I drove a 2023 model y. I decided to check out the new 2026 and this was an absolute stunner! The handling is amazing and the ride is incredibly comfortable, with the 19” wheels and the updated suspension. It soaks up bumps with ease and I’m loving all the technology with the touchscreen. Definitely a learning curve coming from a 2016 Nissan maxima, which I loved. Totally digging the Frunk as I now use that as my main storage and it’s great if you have takeout and want to keep the smell out of the cabin. Range is awesome and I’m super excited everytime I get behind the wheel of this thing. Tesla did it right! Will update in a couple months with any changes.

Other Worldly Awesomeness
The Launch is our second Model Y. We bought our first one in 2020. Although we were impressed by our first one, it did have some shortcomings, all of which have been addressed in the new Launch. Short and sweet here goes. Faster, quieter, awesome handling, smooth, great ruby red paint job, ample tint on sunroof, great turning radius, fantastic full self driving, even better sound system, flawless navigation, heated rear seats and cooled front seats, perfect fit and finish, drainable frunk, beautiful wheel design whether you choose to use the hub caps or not and useful outside speaker, rear seats that fold down AND up with the push of a button and front seats that adjust automatically so the rear can fully fold down. We are also getting better MPE. The Launch and Juniper series Model Y are in a class by themselves. I have never owned a car that could come close to this.

Amazing car!
I am not a Tesla fanboy and I'm not even sure EVs are truly the long term future of automobiles. That being said, when it came time for a new car, the new Model Y was at the top of the list because it checked all the boxes that were important to me. I like the size, storage capacity, quickness, style. and the cooled seats. The price was right too. For me, there isn't another car that piqued my interest that wasn't twice the cost. I had read all good things about the refreshed model, and after owning it for 2 months, it has not disappointed. It's the best car I have ever owned. It still has some quirks, but those can and will likely be fixed through software updates. My biggest worry was the lack of buttons and the fact all controls are through the screen. A friend, who owns a model 3, told me not to worry, that I would get used to it. He was right. I have absolutely no issues with the controls being on the screen, and I find myself messing with settings far less in the Tesla than I did in my previous car. Driving it is amazing. I previously had a QX70s and while I loved that car, the cabin was louder, the transmission was not refined, and the suspension was terrible compared to the new Y. It is a smooth and quiet ride, and I have the 20" wheels. I've only had it 2 months so time will tell if it is a reliable car, but so far, it's been amazing.

The Real Deal
Coming for a 2020 Model Y, the improvements are dramatic and immediately noticeable. The suspension improvements, improved fit and finish, reduced interior noise, and faster computer lead to a more enjoyable/comfortable/quiet ride/improved driver assistance functionality. My family did not enjoy road trips in the 2020, but now they request to take the 2026 (Juniper) Model Y. The driver assist hardware/software in the 2026 is also a dramatic improvement from the 2020 and we are now subscribing to FSD monthly. The interior LED lighting, powered rear seats, and cooled front seats add to the "luxury" interior experience. The only enhancements I would like added would be 360 overhead camera view, massaging front seats, cooled rear seats, brighter/larger BSM indicator, steer by wire, and bidirectional power capability. All in all, the 2026 Juniper Tesla Model Y its the best bang for the buck in the SUV category and impressive to see the level of improvements in 5 years in the Model Y. Owners of the 2020-2025 Model Y should test drive the Juniper 2026 and you will quickly see/feel/hear the improvements. The 2020 Model Y was a good SUV but the 2026 Model Y is a great SUV.

I’ll Testify! Can I Get An AMEN?
But seriously, folks. If you ask a Tesla owner how they like it, more often than not they’ll sound like a recent convert to a religious cult. When was the last time you saw a Tesla advertisement on TV or print media? There’s a reason Tesla doesn’t (need to) spend millions on advertising: we gladly do it for them! We began our EV journey about three years ago with a Nissan LEAF. We have solar on our home and installed Level 2 (240v) outlet. We like everything about the LEAF except range. The claimed 150 miles was, real world, more like 120; the level 3 CHADEMO plug wasn’t always easy to find; s-l-o-w to charge. All this added up to impossible road trips. After two years we decided to get serious. We really didn’t try to buy a Tesla Model Y, honest! There were a few competitors with offering EVs at low “trim levels for a bit le$$. But we wanted Long Range. To get a trim level offering +/-300 range (a year ago) was $3k-10k+ more than the Model Y - and had NO access to the Supercharger network. Guess what we bought? We charge at home most of the time (FREE), using the Supercharger network only on road trips. We’ve only done 4 road trips (1000 miles each, RT) so far. The seats are superb - NO fatigue. Charging stops coincide with bathroom breaks, so… perfect. Navigation is flawless, and don’t get me started on FSD! Comfort, performance, range. And maintenance? I spent $26 at Costco for tire rotation. And she’s easy on the eyes.
