I've had my Legacy for about 2 months and driven a little over 2,000 miles of mixed driving (a little more in the city) and averaging 29.2 mpg. I'm very happy with this car. I can't believe how quiet and smooth it rides, yet handling doesn't suffer. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever had in a car. I read a number of reviews stating that the base 2.5 engine is only adequate, I disagree. Sure it's not a sports car, but I really don't think it would be worth the extra money, and lower gas mileage to get the turbo. I also like the CVT. It just does the job, smooth and quiet. This is my first all wheel drive car and I love how connected to the road it feels. I'm looking forward to driving it to Colorado to visit my sister and see how it handles the snow. The only drawback is the sound system on the premium trim level. It sounds hollow. I solved this with some after market speakers for all 4 doors. When I removed the stock speakers I was amazed they sounded as good as they did, I've never seen such small magnets on speakers that size. Overall though, I really love this car and am happy with my purchase. Update after 9,300 miles: I am still very happy with my purchase. I'm averaging 30.2 mpg and have had no problems. I receive lots of compliments on how it looks, and my friends have trouble believing the price I paid. I took a long road trip to Colorado and really enjoyed the comfort and good fuel economy, and sound system once I replaced the factory speakers. I particularly like the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist, they work very well and contributed to a relaxing drive. On my return to Texas I encountered a snow storm. I drove in the storm from Colorado Springs to Amarillo with no problems. I've never had an all wheel drive car before and was amazed at how secure it felt in the snow. The year before I made the same trip in my 2 wheel drive midsize truck and it was a very different experience. I've also grown to appreciate the CVT even more. It continues to be unobtrusive, working quietly and smoothly in the background. It's the smoothest and most comfortable car I've ever owned. Also like the infotainment system. I've seen complaints about the 11.6" screen in reviews on YouTube, but I like it. It's easy to use and it either updates automatically, or the dealer did it during my free oil change. Mechanically there have been no problems. Subaru should mention the two years of free maintenance in their advertising, most comparisons make a point of saying it doesn't come with free maintenance. I check my oil with every fill up and it doesn't appear to have used a drop. Most reviews I've seen say it's sluggish or underpowered, I don't agree. Of course it's not a race car, but it's more than adequate for normal driving. I found an old Motor Trend from 1980, and looking at the 0-60 times my car should be able to outrun a 1980 Turbo Trans Am. If only I could travel in time. In conclusion, I'm very happy with the 2024 Subaru Legacy Premium, it's served my needs perfectly and I would buy it again. I'm sad they're discontinuing the Legacy after 2025. I'll have to make this one last.

Get the XT - Better than the N/A

Repeated Subaru Buyer, 01/07/2024

2024 Subaru Legacy Touring XT 4dr Sedan AWD (2.4L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
19 of 19 people found this review helpful

I must say, after they got rid of the 3.6 in the Legacy, never thought I would even buy a new Subaru again. What a surprise, the XT is a great driving car. It doesn't have all the weight from the larger engine and that has been welcoming. It always felt way too heavy in the front end with the 3.6 and the 2024 is way more balanced. I do have that feeling a turbo could be a little more maintenance but also purchased the extended warranty just in case any issues arise. Living in New England, Subarus check the most boxes. That being said, I do see some shortcomings. I like the big screen, just not the backup camera. It looks like the cheapest part of the car. The second complaint would have to be the driver assist items in inclement weather. I turn them off to not be pulled all over the road. Oh and that auto start/stop, just turn it off, can't stand it. Final thoughts: If you want something fast, comfortable, and AWD, you should definitely put the legacy XT on your list. Most other common brands refuse to put the better engine with the AWD option paired. One other thing, always purchase the later years of the generation. They seem to have the most bugs out by then. Good luck in your decision! All around great sedan, for those of us that still want one. Update - Still enjoying the XT, almost 19k miles and counting.

Amazing power but terrible CarPlay

Sierra , 07/20/2023
2023 Subaru Legacy Touring XT 4dr Sedan AWD (2.4L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
8 of 8 people found this review helpful

I bought this car in February, I went from a tiny civic with barely any power to a sleeper. Truly, the speed and pickup in this touring is amazing. But the CarPlay and Bluetooth is trash, literally garbage. Constantly changing its mind on working properly, disconnecting mid drive half the time. Very very frustrating. However, it seems the car will need to have software updates every so often, as that was the trouble shoot from the dealership. The seats are too comfortable, which is a good thing when you’re not exhausted. Heated and cold ventilated seats, moonroof, and lots of space for passengers who need it. Conclusion, very nice. :)

I'm a one car guy so I'm always looking for the perfect do everything car and I can never find it. Did I find it here? No, but it's got a lot of good things going for it. I have the Sport, and anytime I need to squirt into traffic, i click into the S# and it helps with responsiveness and acceleration. The rest of the time it's just a really relaxed ride. The engine is never stressed. It's easy to drive. The features are all pretty good. I wish I could have opted for ventilated fronts and heated rears as part of some package. There's a lot of little details that are nice like each rear passenger gets 3 pockets behind the front seats. Legroom is generous. As the driver i have a nice padded area for my right knee. The comfort is really good. I wish it was a little more quiet in the cabin, and I wish it had a little more noise out of the exhaust. This thing is an absolute beast in the snow. I wish it was a little better in some respects, but it's really good in so many for the price that it's hard to justify buying an A4 or a TLX in my opinion. I lusted after those other cars, but the value here from the legacy is just off the charts.

Great car....but

I have a 2023 Subaru Legacy Premium with the BLIS/RCTA package. For the money, this was a phenomenal value (Under 29K). The ride quality is supple and the interior is very comfortable. The fuel economy has been outstanding, at roughly 31-32 MPG each fill up (I drive 50 miles a day on a mix of city streets and rural roadways). I have had the car for 6 months now and so far it has been a very good car. The only issue is not the car's fault...As one of the last low to the ground vehicles, trucks and suv's headlights at night are always an issue. If you have the extra money, I highly recommend the auto dimming mirror/exterior mirror package...which I did not order. You live you learn. Thanks.

The one to get.

I have FINALLY gotten back in a Subaru after being without one for the past 4 years... When I moved out of New England to Mississippi I had a 2011 Outback which I absolutely loved. I got rid of it because nobody seemed to know how to work on them and there were very few of them near me. I had a Honda Pilot for a year and got rid of it in favor of a GMC Acadia, which I liked, because it felt like my Outback. But I kept saying "I miss my Subaru" every time I saw one on the road. We'll, that all changed a few weeks back - my wife needed a new car, and I offered to trade mine in as well so we'd get more for it, then we'd figure out cars. As it so happened, the dealer had a 2023 Legacy Sport on the lot which was priced below market value (because Mississippi). I cannot accurately state just how much I love this car, and how much I love being back in a Subaru. The drive comfort is outstanding, and the S# mode absolutely RIPS. Gas mileage is 27~ combined, and it's just such a joy to drive. I did an 18 hour round trip drive to see my parents with ZERO road fatigue... The only real drawback is that the stock stereo & speakers suck. (Non HK) but that was easily remedied by putting new Kenwood speakers in and a Rockford sub in the trunk. Overall, I would 100% buy the Leagacy Sport again.

Smooth, Stylish and Underrated

2024 Subaru Legacy Sport 4dr Sedan AWD (2.4L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

Never owned or even considered a Subaru until my friend bought a Forester and I was impressed. My first impression of the Legacy was how comfortable it was. The interior is spacious and modern, the infotainment screen very accommodating, and I continually get compliments on how smooth the ride quality is. Extra perks is that it is a unique car, as I've never seen a 2023-2024 Legacy on the streets as much as I see its competitors; The cute welcome greetings you get upon entering/leaving the car; and even ways that you can customize the infotainment screen. The only issues I've experienced are that sometimes the infotainment buttons can lag upon turning the car on (usually after a couple minutes it's fine); and some Driver Eyesight features can be set off erroneously, but it's not too oppressive. In short: I love my Legacy. I had test driven a Camry, Acura Integra, and Mazda CX30, and I'm very happy with my choice.

WRX for those over 50

I needed something with 4-Wheel Drive, or All-Wheel Drive, that would give me the horse power to enter freeway traffic properly, not at 30 mph, and pass on the freeway when needed, and some Sunday afternoon Fun Time. I needed something with at least 250 - 300 hp and good torque. I found all this and more with the new 2023 Subaru Legacy Sport. In (i) mode it is a daily driver with good gas mileage, although the CVT takes a bit getting used to. In (S#) mode the Legacy Sport is quick and sporty, while still giving decent gas mileage. The CVT acts more like a conventional transmission in (S#) mode, but at times you can still tell it is a CVT. It corners good, and the seats are ultra comfortable holding you in place. The iSight system works great when in cruise control, with the occasional slowing you down when nothing is in front of you, but that is rarely. May just need to be recalibrated, or caused from sun glare. I will have them check it on my first service appointment. After Market additions, such as side window deflectors, etc are very hard to find, and seems like the 2019 model was the last year anyone such as Weather Tech, made them. This makes no sense to me as there are a LOT of Subarus of all models sold in the Pacific Northwest. My only complaint, so far, would be the lack of aftermarket accessories for this year/model. This vehicle is worth every penny if you are looking for a mid sized sedan, (although Subaru classifies it as a large sedan,) with good amount of bells and whistles, power and torque, and just plain fun to drive. Plus you get the famous Subaru all-wheel drive for that extra security on the road. The dealership is friendly and down to earth; they treat you like a friend / family.

The car is great, the base engine has enough power. Having trouble with setting up sending and Receiving text messages. So far the car is excellent . Just came back from a trip the car got 33 mpg. The car is doing great. I thing it's a mistake stopping production on this fine car. People will come back to a car in the future. What goes around comes around.

Get the Sport Trim

Coming from a WRX that I’ve had for 9 years, I was looking for better ride, interior comfort etc. I tried a premium Legacy but that base engine didn’t do it for me. The Sport really feels like a big sedan with big power and has updated handling without the stiffness. It’s quiet and composed. I can’t find any flaws at this time. Purchased for mid $30’s and with all the extras so to speak, I feel like this is a bargain luxury car. The only thing it doesn’t have is leather seating but has that combo fake leather and cloth. I find them to be extremely comfortable. Love the interior as well.

Very Nice Cruiser/Grocery Getter

30k on the clock with absolutely no issues. Great highway cruiser and grocery getter. Lots of features that have taken me a while to learn though. I have read the stop/start is annoying to many and it is to me as well. I just press the icon and turn it off when I start the car each time. I will be investing in a stop/start eliminator when my warranty is up (currently $99.00). It's more smooth riding than my Lexus RX 350, gets better mpg, 27 town, 33 hyw. The engine/transmission is on the loud side when accelerating. The Harmon Karden sound is great!. The navigation requires an address or scrolling through the nav menu. We usually use our phones with Google maps via bluetooth. Has built in voice recognition to set temp, heated seats, a/c and many other functions and it works fine for us. Drivers can register on the screen "settings" for seat, mirror settings, plus any other preferred settings and will be adjusted for that particular driver. Drivers seat retracts when entry and adjusts when facial recognition scans. I recommend reading the "Getting Started" manual first, it's smaller than the huge owners manual. No rattles or squeaks so far. It's a very solid feeling and driving car, with a feeling of riding on rails. The a/c is ice cold, heat is hot, with separate setting for driver and passenger. Rear passenger seats are heated, with a/c and heat vents and two usb ports. The back seats fold down 60/40 for extra room. One feature I really like are the directional headlights, they move as you turn. Bluetooth connects instantantly, 2 wired usb locations are very tight toget to. I changed the trunk light bulb to an LED bulb because the original bulb was laughably dim. The drivers seat has a section that you can pull out and extend for long legged drivers. I don't think it's real looker on the outside, but the interior is plush. After reading reviews about Subaru's philosophy they are committed to building safe, practical, sturdy and durable vehicles. BTW those that have a hate-on for the Boxer engine that is built by Subaru in Japan, I have a car sitting in my garage with a Boxer type engine that is 61 years old, with 378k miles on it and it still runs fine, has had no major engine work either. Engine oil changes are required every 6 mos. or 6k miles. Front and rear differentials fluid change at 60k miles. The cvt transmission has a chain drive not a rubber composite belt as other failing cvt's have and has lifetime fluid (I may do a 60k cvt fluid drain and fill, NOT flush though) even though some dealership apparently refuse to do it. We really are impressed with this car and hope to keep it for at least 250k reliable miles.

2024 Subaru Legacy Sport 2.4 turbo best legacy yet

This is the second Legacy I have purchased. I replaced my 2016 2.5 legacy with a legacy Sport. What a difference the turbo and the sport package make. The car rides like a luxury car and has responsive acceleration it's an excellent freeway cruiser. I find the ride much more comfortable than its rivals. However, I have had excellent service from my past Subaru, and I like the Subaru philosophy" share the love" to endorse the ASPCA and make a wish foundation to mention a few. No complaints. You get a lot for your money.

I just bought this car in January and the clearcoat/paint is defective. Took it to my local body shop and was told the entire car needs painted. It's not acid rain as my new car is parked next to my 2012 Legacy and my daughter's 2014 Ford Escape and there is no problem with their clearcoat/paint.

I spent a fair amount of time comparing sedans in this class. I chose the Subaru because the cabin fit (I'm tall and don't fit in any of the vehicles with moon roofs. After eliminating those this model had the best trim package/cabin fit combo for me.) The sales staff was very friendly, no pressure at all. The price was great and the car looks very stylish. The rear seats fold down, providing more storage width than others in this class. This is my first Subaru, looking forward to many years with it.

Although this car drives nice and has many nice features especially a big screen to view all applications, there are some flaws. First the driver's door fit is not fit very well. You must firmly shut it which in my previous Subaru was not the case. The rear window defogger is anemic at best and does not clear ice or snow but merely a fogged window. The door opener does not work unless the car is on which in the previous model, it was powered all the time. The car is not as quiet in the cabin as my previous model. The trunk opener is improved and opens all the way when you use the remote. The heated seats are warmer, and the gas tank opens much better than the previous model.

Wanted to Like Wanted to Buy a 24 Legacy

I narrowed down my search to the 24 Legacy Sport or Premium and 2024 Mazda CX50 Premium reasons I was going with Legacy was it is not a CUV number 1. Also that it is not so common. However it is a terribly slow seller one of the worst of all sedans on the market. Subaru counters this by having very few in stock so they don't negotiate that much and rarely have the model you want on the lot. I did give Subaru and offer on a sport but they did not budge much. Also you can't get backup cameras or the minimum parking sensors in 2024 on a Subaru Sedan... really? I wanted to get the N/A model but with the CVT it is loud and unrefined compared to the Mazda. Also the Infotainment better on Mazda... throw in the ground clearance, hatch more inventory and likely better reliability, fit and finish the Mazda was the one i went with.

I drive one of these for a company car and probably one of the worst new cars I’ve driven. The technology feels at least a decade old to use, very slow connection, comfort is lacking, doesn’t drive nicely in the least especially for something that’s supposed to be new. The lane assist is buggy af and pulls for no reason. It looks and feels very cheaply built as well

I like the Comfort and style and the amities of this vehicle. Dislikes Seat Belt attachment to tight near the center consul hard to find and attach. Navigation does not display posted speed limits on The base and Sport Models.

I don't like the navigation Tom-Tom. When asking for information, it does not understand my command and always repeats the question and then sends me to a different state. Not like my old Toyota navigation. I don't like to push the green stop start button, annoying, but can't do anything about it. I don't like having to push the front camera button when entering my garage. My old Toyota did it automatically to show where to stop. I don't like that Subaru does not give you 2 free maintenance. My old Toyota did. Also, that it does not come in a V6, my old Toyota did. The accellaration is not bad, okay. The cargo net is not as good as my old cargo net was, very had to place iterms in it. Besides that, it runs good and looks good.

My biggest worry is the CVT. To be honest, if I had known what it was I probably wouldn’t have bought the car. Fun to drive comfortable interior. AWD is outstanding in rain. When I buy a car I expect 200,000 miles maintenance free. With the CVT I’m not sure if the car will make it 200,000 miles. CVT replacement cost $3,000 - $6,000.
