Cute as a Button
I love, love, love this car. The gas mileage is fantastic!
Great Affordable Car
I bought this car because I needed something I could drive and not pay a fortune for gas. I have two kids and its been a great car. My son is now 5 and starting to outgrow the backseat. You definitely don't have enough leg room for a tall person driving and a person in the back seat. Other than that I have had no problems at all with it.

Great value
It has been three and a half years since we got our xA and we have been very pleased. We have had no problems with the car; haven't had anything fixed yet. We still get >30mpg, even with city driving. The car is great for the city: easy to zip around and park in tight spaces. It still looks great outside and inside, although the audio controls are not very good. It is a capable vehicle for the highway, but you will feel when tractor trailers pass you. While it looks small it has a lot of room inside and is very flexible. You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff you can fit in.
BEST CAR EVER! PERIOD!
I have had my 2004 Scion xA since the end of 03. My car now has 86500 miles on it. No problems whatsoever! Affordable, reliable, and great mileage, at low cost. The perfect car! Back seats fold down flat, perfect to store things. I have had a tandem bicycle inside of the car.
The Car People SHOULD Want
If you know what you're getting this car is perfect. It's a simply built car with just the right standard features (except cruise control). If you can live with a high-revving cruise speed ie. 3000 rpm @ 60 mph, 4000 rpm @ 80 mph, then you'll be fine. After 103,000 miles these are my findings: 40,000 mi: New tires: Yokohama Avid TRZs so they'll last longer than the terrible stock tires. 80,000 mi: new brake pads and rotors. 100,000 mi: new front right wheel bearing. So overall, not so bad. I've heard the bearings are a weakness on the car, but one per 100K? I think I can live with that.
Great Entry-Level Car!!!
This car truly stands out in a boring sea of lackluster subcompacts, most with average quality, below average fit and finish, abysmal resale and few, if any, aftermarket peformance offerings. In 5 speed form, this car truly is fun to drive, offers a 9-second 0-60 time, great build quality and Toyota value. Funky to look at, you either love it or hate it, which is just fine with me. Car is very stable, firm handling, doesn't feel like a small car, even cruising at 85. But keep in mind, while fun a spunky in a 5 speed, this car dogs with the automatic.
Great for the Money
Well I bought an Xa today and its seems to be a tight little package. Try comparing it to Kia Sephia. lol. A great value. Whole car seems well rounded and hella space with the seats down. My only complaint, if I had one, is 108hp, but I'm behond 0-60 at this point and this makes it there fast enough. :)For $12995 you cant beat the stuff this little car has on it. My favorite thing about this car is the fit and finish. Seems like a much more expensive car. And to top it off its a Toyata. I'll be lookin for a new car in 2015. :)
Wonderful Little Commuter Car
My second day of driving the car, and I can conclude that (+) 1) It's amazingly quiet 2) Has a great audio system 3) Has comfortable, distinctive seating 4) Great white- faced display with amber lighting on the other components. 5) Unique design (-) 1)Horsepower - 108 is fine, but more is always better and appreciated. 2)Space - I'm 5'9 and have the seat pretty far back, I would only put a child behind me for long distances, an adult could fit ok but only for a while.. Trunk space is small, but has some space under for small items. There are no pockets behind the front seats, and map pockets are small. 3) Cruise control!
Great first car - good long commuter
I purchased this car not for its looks (which are decent), its cargo capacity (which is small but again decent - took 15 medium sized parcels and a dolly with the rear seats down), or its numerous standard features (great CD sound system, AC, power everything), but for its great mileage! I commute 50 miles to and from work each day, and I gotta have a gas sipper! My last Toyota, a 4Runner, lasted 14 years and 300000 miles for losing the head gasket, but the mileage was half what I'm getting with the SCIONl. I think I'll like this little chihuahua!
Just love it love it love it!
We bought this car more than one month ago and just absolutely love it! It has very responsive handling and is just a joy to drive! I just can't stop saying I love it!
I heart my Scion xA, even after 4 years.
I am a single mom with two kids, and this car has always been reliable, fun, and stylish! I would recommend it to anyone. I just wish it got better gas mileage!
Not for anyone over 5 feet tall
This car allows me to commute for about the same price as my motorcycle, and about the same level of safety too. I truly love this car's ability to get me from LA to SF for less than fifty bucks. The stereo is great and I can fit a drum set in the back with room to spare. The car is actually quite quick if it has a manual transmission. It can park almost anywhere (i.e. double parking on standard sized driveways).
they should do a comercial about me
Had a Toyota echo. Put over 200k miles on it with only changing the brakes and exhaust manifold gasket. Wanted a newer car. The xa has the same power train as the echo. So bought it.$11.9k . Same as the echo. Great mileage (I drive 90% highway. At least 38+mpg). I've loaded it up with lumber (strapped qty 16 16' 1x8's on the roof), cement, you name it, I've loaded it. No probs. I consider ti a throw way car so I'm not concerned about the roof or scratching it. That's why I load it to the max when I do my home depot runs. Cant beat it. The only thing I've done on it is new brakes/rotors in the front and exhaust gasket. (90k miles on it at that point)

My silver bullet scion Xa is incredible
Owned this 2004 scion since 2017 bought used with 60k miles. One of the most maintenance free vehicles I’ve ever had. Other than brakes and some ac recharging and tires, I have had to do very little repairs. I still get mid 30’s mpg and the paint is near perfect. I keep it waxed, but see very little fading on this all Florida car. Oil changes and new tires are my next big purchase.
Not Bad, but also Not Good Enough
First thing I should say is... I like this car. It's well-built, all-around- not-bad features.. I'm satisfied with this car. However, the most factor that affected me to buy it is definitely the PRICE!
Non subjective view
Great sense of maneuver. Perfect acceleration and aero dynamics. The car is very slayable on the road.

First Car..
Umm i've driven more than one car but only owned the XA and i'm very happy with it. I rear ended someone and the grill on the car wasn't stock..? so that cost me about $500 more. The gas pump is weird. When i go to fill up gas the pump kicks off a lot so i have to manual fill my tank most of the time.. annoying but not to inconvenient.
Wow
Great car and fun to drive. Fell in love with the model the "Yaris" in europe in 2000. great mileage and a fun fun ride. still getting looks when I drive by.
Stronger than it looks
I’ve been driving my Toyota Scion xa for almost two years now and about a year ago I rear ended someone. I stupidly hit someone going about 35 mph and my front bumper fell off completely along with a bent up quarter panel and broken headlight. I am a poor college student working a minimum wage job, so I am unable to afford to get any of the damage fixed or to buy a new car. This car still runs perfectly fine though, all of the damage was cosmetic. I’ve put many miles on it this past year and have no problems. This little car truly is stronger than it looks.
