You get a little more than what you pay

Some minor problems but I had the saturn no hassle plan for the first 5 years. Once paid off, I make sure to get the oil changed and add a little Dura-lube or Slick 50 for some good luck. 70,000 miles later no problems. I treat it to a christmas gift each year. One upper motor mount in 1999 (didn't need replacing) Tires in 2000, still had 8/32 of tread (practically new) 2001 new sound system (now with 200 watts of clean power) 2002 alignment and struts (against the recommendation of the technician). The Manual trans is the best I've driven from BMW Audi Passat Honda and Toyota (very smooth).

It's definately an economic, low maintenance car. I have, however, had to have an "annual tow" and a few hundred dollars worth of work once a year, but outside of that, it runs well.

My Saturn experience

Other than having excellent fuel economy my Saturn has really been a lemon. It's had to go in for electrical and engine repairs numerous times and it has even had parts just fall off, like a part of the covering under the steering wheel. Also, it's very noisy & gets stuck between gears often even though it's automatic. If all of this model are like this, I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone. It might have been a lemon though.

great reliable car with wonderful gas mileage. manual transmission is my favorite way to drive, but this particular car has problems with the first gear. if you can not drive a stick with skill, you will jerk the car on start due to the first gear. i totaled mine, T-boned a car while going 50 mph, and this car had no intrusions, and i was not injured from the wreck due to its great safety

We purchased this vechicle new and have nothing but fun driving it. It currently has 122,000 miles and it has never left us stranded. We still get 30 miles to the gallon on the highway. The car has been no trouble, but I have been good about getting the major service at 30K, 60K and 90K.
