Reliable car!
I bought this car from my girlfriend a few years ago because I needed a fuel-efficient car for commuting to and from work (Jeep was way too thirsty for gas!). The car has a total of 235,000 miles. The car is a little rusty with a big dent on the right front panel passenger side. The car is very reliable. The car is great on gas too. There are some disadvantages to the car. It shifts hard from 1st gear to 2nd gear, I have replaced the governor gear three times, and it leaks oil (a lot of it).
Great college car
I bought this car from a co-worker before I went to college. The car had about 60,000 miles on it. It ran great. It is easy on gas. I get about 34 mpg highway and 28 mpg city. The car is very reliable and a real do-it-yourself car when it comes to maintenance. I changed the alternator and thermostat myself in addition to the plugs. The timing chain is fine just as long as you keep the oil changed on a regular basis. I still have the car, but I just use it as a road runner now. I went out and bought a Nissan Frontier and it is just as reliable.
Boring to look at but can't kill it!
My 1992 nissan sentra has been nothing but reliable for my family. No major repairs except a gas tank replacement @ 397000 kms. The usual repairs for wear and tear only. Interior has held up awesome with little to no wear to the seats. Still getting great gas mileage and no oil burning. This car deserves respect for being so simple in its design and so amazingly well built. I can't understand why they still can't produce all cars to be this well. So anyone looking for a great second or student car, this is it hands down! Hope to get million km out of her yet. My little red rocket just goes and goes.
keeps on ticking
I have had my Nissan Sentra XE for more than seven years now (bought used) and it has 179,000 miles on it. I kinda want a new car, but this one just keeps going! I have had very few problems with it (except that last couple years the heat has been slow to warm up and there is an odd creaking/groaning sound in the suspension when I go over bumps when it is cold out--no one can figure it out...). It has been VERY reliable and fun for me to drive--I'm not a racer, though. It's not really roomy enough for four adults, but I've usually just had dogs in the back seat! I wanted a Honda when I bought it, but couldn't afford it for essentially same features. It has been worth every dime.

great little car, for price...
Best car I have ever owned.
I bought my 5-speed 1992 Nissan Sentra SE in 1992 for my wife who passed away in 1994. She absolutely adored her little Sentra as it was her first new car. After her passing, I kept the car but could not sell it because of sentimental value. It sat in the garage a long time and I would start it every now and again. But I now drive it mostly on the weekends. I take extreme care of it. There are no dents, dings, rust, or any paint damage on it, One thing to note is that the original brakes are still on the car. Only maintenance done was the replacement fuel pump as a factory recall, new drive belts, some battery replacements, oil, and tire changes. I have never had a breakdown or any real serious problems. The Sentra is now 30 -1/2 years old with only 56,937 miles on it as of September 24, 2022. Best car I have owned in my life. Super on MPG - 38 City and up to 48 as Highway. I have had offers from people and some car salesmen for personal use to buy it and have been offered as much as $10,000. Car companies do not dependable, reliable gas-sippers like this anymore.
