I can't complain about the car itself, I know it would consume a lot of gas. Don't buy an SUV if you think you will compete with a Corolla. Nissan Sales and Service is not the greatest, but hopefully you won't have to spend much time with them, the less the better. A great car for a little too high price, but I am still happy with it.

We haven't quite had it a month yet, but we love it. One thing, well maybe two. I am 6'3" tall and weigh over 250 (Relatively muscular 250) and it is a snug fit. My legs are pretty cramped and there is not a lot of room on the sides. I know it is one of the stronger V6 motors for this size vehicle, but the mileage is pretty week. I have a big V8 Chevy truck and it gets just a few miles less per gallon.

The 2002 Pathfinder is definitely fun to drive, especially with the newer and more powerfull engine. I have a 4WD LE with everything except the entertainment unit and Navigation system. The drive is smooth, comfortable and fun. The only drawback is the lack of head room, which decreases about another 1 to 1 1/2 inches with the moon roof. It's very tight for anyone over 6'.

Purchased this vehicle used. The cd player stopped working after 6 mos. The dealer wants to charge $500 for a new player. The drive is smooth, only on a smooth road; otherwise, when we hit a bump it feels like i'm about to be thrown out of the vehicle. Passenger leg-room is limited. Very convient to have the radio controls on the steering wheel, b'cuz the radio is hard to reach while driving. Good cargo space when the seats are folded down. The SUV is very durable, and stylish.

The 2002 LE 4WD is my 5th pathfinder (1993,1995,1997,2001,2002).I have had it for 3 years now and I will have it until it dies. My first four pathfinders were XE 2WD models and I splurged on this one and learned a big lesson. You can easily find a 2 year old model and save yourself about $20K and have a very very very great truck. Then engine is strong and the Auto 4WD with limited slip is extremely able to get you through the snow/ice/rain/sand etc etc. I have pulled 4000 lbs with this car cross country and I have taken this off road. I have only experienced two problems, cracked joints on the exhaust pipes and BOSE 6CD head unit replaced under warranty.

Nissan's are built to last as long as you take care of them. I love my Pathfinder. Gas mileage is lousy but then agian, it's an SUV. But the amenities that come w/the truck are great and I will keep it until I run it into the ground.

The Pathfinder is sporty yet classy. It has quick acceleration, is easy to manuever, has great visability, comfort, style, reliability, is not too big, yet can carry a lot of cargo, and is fun to drive. Two cons only: I only get 17 miles per gallon in the city, and the CD player, which has been replaced once by Nissan, is very finicky. Other than that....it is an AWESOME vehicle.

Just purchased an 02 LE. Love it. Had a Honda prior- a lease. DON'T EVER LEASE. I made that mistake 3.5 yrs ago. My Pathfinder has all the perks. Smooth ride. Substantial power when I need it. Averages better gas mileage than advertised, 4-5 miles better. Nissan should revise the mpg to 19/23. Excellent vehicle to start a family with.

This has been a very good vehicle for us. Runs rings around the 99 Grand Cherokee we had before this Pathfinder. However in my 40 years of driving I have never had an exhaust manifold break. Not one but both broke on this SUV at 50,000 miles and the dealer wants $1200.00 to replace them. I feel this is not a normal situation and should have been replaced under the drivetrain warrenty. Besides this issue this has been a very reliable SUV, we travel with it alot and I have confidence where ever I go with it.

Amazing car. Feels like a Jaguar while on the road, and total confidence off road. Fuel economy a little low, but, hey, aren't all SUVs? Bought brand new in March 2002 and no problems at all. That's why it has amazing resale in our part of the world. Prettiest 4x4 in terms of exterior, while interior is comfortable and functional. All in all, $ for $ the best SUV in the world. It's ripe for replacement as it's approaching 4 years, but I can't find any alternative that will match it for build quality, comfort, ergonomics and performance in that price range. So I guess I'll be keeping it!

I must say that I was not thrilled with the 95-99 designs of the Pathfinder. But that all changed when I saw the 02 LE. Wow! DVD in the back seat and Navigation System up front - this is a deal worth having! Keep in mind that the 03 will not have Navigation offered - you must go with the QX4 to get that! So it seems to be an impossible deal to pass up. 3.9 financing and a powerful 3.5l engine, smooth car like ride and rich leather interior. Why pay 10k more for the Acura when you can have the same with a Nissan? Run and get this now! When the 02s are gone, there will be no more GPS in the pathfinders!!!

After One Week In Our New 02 Pathfinder

After a week with our new Pathfinder LE I must admit that I'm very impressed overall. I also heavily considered the Toyota 4Runner, Infinity QX4 (almost the same vehicle as the Pathfinder), and Lexus RX300. Build quality is excellent. Performance excellent! Price was less than the Lexus and the Toyota. Drives more like a car than a truck. Not the most attractive of the bunch (the 4Runner is better looking). However, the 240 HP engine and towing capacity (tows my 2500 lb boat) put the Pathfinder well over the others. Even without the towing capability I would have chosen it though.

Love this SUV. A smooth ride that could induce car-sickness, a powerful engine, and conveniently-placed and thought-out controls make the car a gem. With regular all-season tires, holds the road in ice and snow, and stops on a dime if you're not driving like a drunken banshee. While 4WD can be taxing on tires, the Bridgestones wore out much too quickly - and were vulnerable to shoulder wear despite frequent rotation and balancing. Depending on driver height and seat position, blind spots (merging, etc.) can be a problem - encourage all your family members to test-drive before you buy.

Exellent SUV choice. Good power, nice, if dated ergonomics, pure exterior design, nice leather. Very quiet interior at highway speeds. Everything about this rig instills quality, solid feel. My only complaint is the numb, no feel steering - my wife's 2001Mazda Tribute, although not nearly as refined-feeling as the Pathfinder, is much more fun to drive. That car has also excellent power (200 hp), which it uses well since the Mazda is substantially lighter. I think they are equal off the line, seat-of- the-pants assesment. Anyway, the Pathfinder is roomier than Toyota 4-Runner and probably the best value for the $$$. Go try one, you will like it.

I got my Pathfinder brand new and drive it 30 miles every day to and from work. My husband and I also wind up driving it on the weekends instead of his 2003 Chevrolet Pickup. We call it the "grocery wagon" because it's so easy to access the back to put in shopping bags. It seems like it can haul just about as much as a full-sized pickup when we fold the seats down. It's sturdy, airtight, and has plenty of pickup on the road. I was looking for another SUV, but the new ones don't have much more to offer than my 2002 model.

Bought my LE in Jan.02. Looks great, well thought out interior features, great engine, nice Bose stereo, but it rides like a buckboard, has pitiful headroom, and has garnered nothing but complaints from my family about backseat room, comfort, and ease of ingress/egress.Took it in because "service engine soon"light was on. Now after my 5th trip back to the dealer, it's finally fixed.

Overall my initial impression of this vehicle is very good. I looked at the Toyota Highlander and Chevy TrailBlazer. As a past Super Chevy sportster it was hard not to go with the Chevy but the reliability concerned me. The highlander was a minivan dressed to look like a SUV. The Pathfinder was a true truck buy didn't ride or handle like one. I only have two issues at this point. First, there appears to be excessive play in the drive train. Second, the Bose stereo is underpowered and has disappointing sound quality. I am not a radio blaster but you need to hear the radio when your on the road with the windows down. The in dash 6 CD changer is nice.

Bought this new and thought it was fine. After 6 years of only doing minimal maintenance, this thing rocks. With limited slip diff and old fashioned 4x4 (which I prefer), this thing can plow thru any snow and even does better than most others trucks/SUVs in icy conditions. Just get some good aggressive tires for offroading or deep snow.

Second Pathfinder in the family, first for me, a 2002 SE with the roof and POP options. After 22 years of Honda ownership, with the new Pilot not offering the roof or outside thermometer, I jumped to Nissan and couldn't be more pleased. Bayshore blue color a little weird at first but really grows on you and gets lots of compliments. Car is solid, a gas to drive, no bad news here.

Last year, my wife and I traded our sorry Ford Focus for a 2002 Pathfinder, and I must say, they step up has been huge! I've always wanted a truck, but needed one now because of the birth of our second child. The truck has proved to be extremely reliable, handling last winter's snow storm with no drama. It's also decent on the open road. We go back and forth between PA and NY, and the car handles I-95 wonderfully, as it does Canal Street traffic. Anyone who knows Canal Street knows that it can be unbearable on an engine during a hot summer day, idling while trying to get through the tunnel. The interior is also decent, with full power and access. It was a solid purchase!

I bought a early 1999 Pathfinder LE in 2002. It was my first SUV and I loved it! I had an issue with head gaskets that cost me a bit but well worth it. In December '07 my wife and 10 month old son were rear-ended and the truck was flipped onto its roof. Amazingly the only injury was a scratch on my wife's head. For that reason alone I had to replace it with another Pathfinder ASAP. Just bought a 2002 SE and can't wait to get behind the wheel again. I got a great price but the Bose radios 6 disc changer doesn't work. I would recommend a Pathfinder to anyone looking for an SUV!

This is my first SUV. I never really considered a Pathfinder in the past because I thought of it as an off road vehicle, which I really didn't need. Then I sat in one at the NY Auto show and thought, this is really nice! I bought one and I love it. Though the gas mileage isn't the best, everything else about it outweighs that drawback. It's extremely comfortable, great handling, and has everything I would every need. My local dealer is great also. Very accommodating. So far, I'm very pleased.

Picked up my Pathfinder. Took off the wind deflector for the sunroof that can with the vehicle( I don't like them or the look. It was all scratched underneath. A little disappointed at the fools that installed it. They did a good job messing up the Sherwood Green paint, right to the metal(and not just a little). Bringing it back to dealership, after having it 1 day. Other than that. It's no sedan (previouesly owned a 2001 V6 Accord EX), but I knew that before my fiance and I traded our cars in for one automobile.

Love this SUV. It handles great on the road, as nimble and stable as it gets for an SUV. Great power, gets off the line very nicely. Very fun to drive. Trade-off for the stability and agility is a harsh ride (especially for backseat riders). Bumps are very hard and abrupt with 5 ppl. Even though it's a 2WD I have taken it offroad and it has handled everything I've thrown at it. Average 16-17 mpg mixed (majority city). Zero problems.

Great SUV, if you're buying an SUV expect to get and pay for the gas mileage of an SUV (17 mpg avg). Rides smooth, excellent steering, most comfortable seats front and rear, good utility, 4 wheel drive can plow through anything, gusto V6, Bose sound system is tuned perfectly- sound is great, soft touch plastics, great safe SUV. I have experienced a couple rattles up on the dash but very minor, 02 sensors went out at 75000 ($400), and the muffler (catback, everything) replaced at 65000 miles because it failed on me ($500). otherwise, great vehicle - look into it.

If you're looking for the best SUV under 30K, this is DEFINITELY the car. Leading engine in it's class, rugged yet stylish looks, roomy interior, EXCELLENT VALUE for the price, easy AND LOTS OF FUN to drive. Hybrid on-road/off-road claim is justified. Feels like a sedan on the highway/can handle almost anything you give it off-road as well. 4Runner and Cherokee don't match it overall

I bought The Pathfinder because it was praised on here, and I'm glad I did. It drives well, runs quiet, and hasn't given me major problems yet. I bought mine with 134,000 miles on it, but they are mostly highway miles. She gets around 15-16 MPG, but I'm trying to get her to around 20 or so. Probably going to add a K&N cold air intake soon. Changing your own oil can be kinda a drag too, being that the oil filter is underneath the semi-skid plate.
